So, our lawyer babu has fallen back for real on his nerd avatar to help him decode his biwi's hints... love how his vulnerability (wrt Sumo's feelings for him) reveals itself through his conflicting understanding of her actions and words... Mr. Sexy Malhotra please itna matt socho... tumhara dimaag waise bhi kharab hai!!! Give that beautiful dil a chance instead bro, and that's enough to sweep your lady love off her feet :)
Awww, I want ShraMan back and NOW!!! I want to see Shravan finally get what he has yearned for and deserved all these years...
Love you for keeping ShraMan alive, Nith!

PS: BTW, will Sumo actually say I Love You to Shravan? That's gonna be something! Time for Googlu to move over, then?

Anu 🤗
Thank you so much !
@bold 1: That is so true, he thinks too much. If only Sumo thought half as much 😉
@bold 2 : My pleasure Anu 😊 . Miss them so much.

P.S : Take the hint girl 😆

This chapter is such a beauty man *___*
I absolutely loved this short but sweet update.
Shravan is such a cutie.DAMN!
This guy and your update made me fall for thisan again. Adorable.

And I loved how Shravan was sulking wanting his wife just for himself, such a baby.

The way Shravan was writing the hints as your title suggests was on point and so realistic. Well guess what? I do the same and have been doing it for some time now, confusing signs or rather confusing mind of mine I shall say.

Beautiful piece you have got here!
Update Soon :)

Thank you Mittu ! Good to see you here 😊
@bold : And does it have anything to do with certain someone ? 😉 . Just curious 😳

Dear friends,

This is the final part. It is quite long by my standards as I don't write anything long generally. But this time looks like the writing bug bit me quite hard I hope you all like it. I know it is a little here and a little there, but then I tried to bring it together. Do read and let me know what you all think. I have taken a lot of creative liberty in this piece, so if any one finds anything wrong, it is creativity

Cheers !

The Tiwari's had left to the US. Mausa and Mausi were feeling very lonely. So Sumo spent a few evenings there, just cheering them up and helping them clean and rearrange everything. She expected Shravan to join her, she even invited him but he was working on a new case.

Sumo remembered to pick the gift she had got him, years back. The time was right, finally!

But she sensed something was going on in Shravan's head. Every time she tried to start a conversation with Shravan, he would either walk away to take his father's advice on the case or call one of his London friends and start talking. Eavesdropping on the conversation didn't help; she didn't know any of them anyway. She found it odd, to put it mildly. Her mind confused her further when it related the blank paper to his new behavior. But Sumo was not one to be bogged down so easily; she would talk to him about that again, let him handle the new case first. It was not that he could run away from her anymore. But the gift stayed in her handbag, a few more days.

It had taken him a week to get her visa processed after forging her signature on the forms. That was the easy part. The difficult part was to hide it from her. He pretended that there was a new case and he was busy with it. He was determined to look preoccupied but kept stealing glances at her whenever she was in their room. She always caught him doing that and before she said anything, he would walk out of the room to find either his father or Pushkar.

Oxford would be cold this time of the year, he was sure. He packed her warm clothes as well.

Shravan had come home right after lunch. He had no idea how many clothes she would carry for a 2-day trip. He picked 5 pairs for and 2 pairs for him along with all the essentials. As he packed he realized how little he knew about her.For one, her clothes were so small. Even in his wildest dreams he had never imagined a Sumo this thin, his Moti friend had somehow shrunk in his absence and turned into this beautiful woman. He wanted to understand her but before that he wanted to show her how and where her "Chasmish" had evolved into this current version.

Money had suddenly become somewhat of an issue. He wanted to spend his money and there wasn't too much left after he had invested in his new office. Last minute reservations were very expensive, both on flights and hotels. It was not what he wanted but he would have to settle for Economy tickets. He would make up later when his practice picked up. He double-checked every item on his list, just 2 things remained. He hadn't told his family and Sumo had to be picked up from PCT. The second could wait.

Nirmala had returned to Mumbai to take care of her business. His father was at work.

Ramnath Malhotra was happy to see his son in his office.

"Aao Shravan, baito"

"Paapa aap busy to nahi hai na ?"

"Tumhare liye to main bilkul free hoon. Bolo kya baat hai"

"Aap mere friend Rishi ko jaante hain na ? "

"Haan, tumne bataya hai unke baare mein, kaise hain woh"

"Actually uski shaadi fix hui hai aur woh Bangalore aaya hua hai, for his engagement, main soch raha tha ki main aur Sumo Bangalore jayenge, shaam ki tickets available hain to abhi thodi der mein nilkalna padega"

"Ofcourse jao, enjoy karo."

"Teek hai paapa, we'll be back in 2 days."

"Nirmala ko bi bata dena aur driver ko bol do ki tum dono ko drop kar de" he said

"Haan main call kar doonga, teek hai papa"

Shravan's plan was working perfectly. He didn't want anyone to know where they going.

Exactly at 5, Shravan reached PCT. Sumo was just locking the door.

"Sumo, tum na keys Preetha ko de do"

"Kyon ?"

"Nahi, shaayad tum kal nahi aa paogi"

"Kyon ?"

"Bas de do, detail mein bataonga. Aur tumhare car yahin chod do, baad mein driver aake pick kar lega"

Sumo didn't want an argument. The last time he had picked her up from PCT, they had ended up getting married.

Saying anything now would remind him of that and it would hurt him, so she decided to do as she was told. The ride to the airport was quiet. She didn't want to ask where they were going and he didn't want to tell.

But as soon as they reached the airport, Sumo couldn't take it any longer.

"Kahan jaa rahe hai hum ?"

"Bangalore"

"Par Shravan, yeh international departure hai. Is liye kehti hoon, chashme ki zaroorat hai tumhe"

"Tum sab se yahi bologi ki hum Bangalore gaye the, Rishi ke engagemement mein "

"Par ja kahan rahe hai ? " she was annoyed now.

"Guess karo" he said calmly.

"Oxford ?"

Hint : She knows me in and out.

Hint : And yet she wont say she loves me ?

It had been her dream to visit him someday while he was studying there. But she had neither the means nor the opportunity. Sumo had always rationalized that, saying that he was always with her, no matter where he was. But this felt nice.

Shravan expected her to question him, but she didnt. All she asked was

"Mere kapde ? Mera toothbrush"

He pointed to the suitcase.

Hint : Sumo trusts me.

The queues were long, but he suggested that they eat first as the flight wasn't until 1:30 and they had lot of time. Dinner was followed by standing in a long queue at check in and then again at security. The airport seemed to be full of newly weds. It was so easy to identify them, they all looked the same, at least to Shravan, excessive sindoor and hands full of bangles, the mangalsutra was visible as well. They were all holding their husbands hands. He saw Sumo look at them; there was a yearning in her eyes. He had already realised, the gravity of what he had done, of how he had crushed her dreams but these constant reminders made him feel guilty.

Hint : Sumo feels bad about the wedding

She had read his mind again and pulled his sleeve. They looked into each other's eyes.

"Sumo..." he said feebly and she instantly put her forefinger on his lips.

"Shhh..."

The queue moved forward slowly but steadily and finally security checking was complete.

She was still wearing her shoes when Shravan picked up her handbag. She panicked and snatched it from him.

"Shravan, ladies bag tumhe utana nahi chahiye. Itne saal Oxford mein yeh bhi nahi sikaya tumhe ?"

Hint : Sumo doesn't like me touching her things

They went back to their normal chit chat.

"Shravan yahan se kitna time lagta hai?"

"9 hours ke kareeb"

Flight was announced. They had a window and an aisle. Shravan's legs wouldn't fit, so chose the aisle.

"Isliye kehte hai ki itna lamba bhi nahi hona chahiye" she laughed putting her handbag below the seat in front of her. She couldn't let it out of sight.

As soon as the flight took off, Sumo did something Shravan didn't expect at all. She released the armrest between the seats and pushed it far behind. She pulled him closer, giving him space and then leaned on his shoulder.

"Tak gayi ho ?"

"Nahi, mere husband ke lambe hona ka faida uta rahi hoon"

She intertwined her fingers with his held it firmly and for the first time Shravan felt like a newly wed. Yes, they had hugged, cuddled and kissed before in the confines of their bedroom but this was something else, something new and unexpected. It its own way this tiny gesture overwhelmed him. This was already turning out to be one of the best days of his life. All his problems with travelling in Economy seemed trivial now.

Hint : "Mere Husband" :)

They both woke up only when the landing announcement was going on. Heathrow airport was filled with people of all races and languages, some scurrying, some walking calmly and some bumping into others.

"Aur kitna door hai" she asked impatiently like a child

"Sumo abhi do trains lene hai hume, Do gante to lag jayenge. Tum pehle fresh ho ke aajao, main wait karta hoon." he said pulling out his jacket and her sweater from the suitcase.

They left the airport in the first train they could take.

Shravan was happy just to be with her, to have her just for himself, her whole undivided attention but London came in between them. He was amused by her reactions but he had no intention of saying anything, at least her reactions belonged only to him.

He was really happy. They switched trains at Paddington, Oxford was just an hour away.

They were hungry when they reached but decided to check in first. After a quick nap, Shravan showered and woke her up.

"Sumo uto, thoda ghoomte hai"

"Paanch minute aur"

"Teek hai, main tab tak tumare handbag dekh loon"

She woke up immediately, grabbed her handbag and rushed to take a shower.

Sumo had never seen Shravan talk so much. He went on and on showing her places, Carfax tower, Bridge of Sighs, Trinity college etc, places where he had spent so many years, restaurants which he had loved, he had even worked part time in some, stores where he had shopped, lanes he had walked, colleges, churches.

One employee in the Indian store he frequented actually recognised him.

"My wife, Suman" he introduced her proudly.

Sumo absorbed the sights and sounds of each place he took her. Sumo could feel the happiness in his voice, it was as if her chashmish was more visible now. There was a spring in his step and a grin on his face, only the glasses were missing.

"Kyon naa hum-tum

Chale tedhe-medhe se raston pe nange paanv re

Chal bhatak le na baawre

Kyun na hum tum

Phire jaake almast pehchaani raahon ke pare

Chal bhatak le na baawre

Inn timtimati nigaahon mein

Inn chamchamati adaaon mein

Luke huey, chhupe huey

Hain kya khayaal baawre"

So this was where he was, all the years that he had not been with her. She felt jealous not because he had studied there and she had not, but because Oxford had stolen her Shravan from her, a feat no other girl could achieve. This was where her "chashmish" had transformed into Mr.Malhotra.

To its credit, it was the most beautiful place she had seen. There may be others words that fit better but beautiful was the only word that came into her mind.It was autumn and the place was green, yellow, orange, magenta and crimson at the same time. Fall breeze was blowing the leaves away. On some buildings the creepers were turning brown, and on some they were still yellow, it fascinated her. She tugged his sleeve as they walked through the roads.

In every word he spoke, she saw how much he wanted to share everything with her and how he had probably not shared all this with anybody else. Even in such a place, where there were so many other people, pretty girls, intelligent women, it was her that Shravan had missed.

There was a chill in the air, her nose was turning red and she sneezed.

"Bless you Sumo, lagta hai woh sweater kaafi nahi hai, meri jacket le lo"

She didn't reply. She merely looked in his eyes. That's when he saw that they were moist.

"I am really very sorry Shravan" she said

It was his turn to "Shhh" her, he knew she was talking about what happened 10 years back.

"Naa lafz kharch karna tum

Naa lafz kharch hum karenge

Nazar ke kankadon se

Khamoshiyon ki khidkiyan yun todenge

Mila ke mast baat phir karenge"

She just squeezed his hands tighter. She wanted to tell him right there in the middle of the sidewalk how much she loved him that there was not a day she spent without thinking about him, but she decided against it. The place would have to be special.

"Shravan, tum aise bak bak hi harti rahogi ya apni favourite jagah bhi dekhaoge?"

"Are you sure Sumo ? Kaafi takh gayi ho"

"Shravan ..." she insisted.

Hint : Sumo is bored with my talking.

"Yeh phone mein baar baar kya karte rehte ho ? Lao mujhe dikao" she interupted before he could type

But she is enjoying Oxford.

"Teek hai, handbag aur phone exchange... deal ?"

"No deal... accha yeh bolo ki woh jagah tumhari favourite kyon hai ?"

"Batonga tumhe par promise karo ki tum hasogi nahi"

"Pakkawala ?"

"Haan"

She hesitated for a minute before agreeing.

"Ek din mein St.Mary's church ka tower dekhne gaya tha. Wahan ke views bohout acche hain"

She was thoroughly confused now. There were so many churches.

"Hum gaye the kya ?"

"Nahi woh Carfax tower the, yeh University church hai"

"Mujhe jaana hai wahan... abhi, story wahan jaake batao, nahi to samjhoongi kaise ?"

They were the last people to make it to the tower before it closed for the day.

Shravan took her to a viewpoint.

"To main yahin pe khada tha"

"Woh kya building hai ?"

"Yeh Radcliffe camera hai, yahan pe Radcliffe library tha pehle, ab madam ok bolengi to continue karoon ?"

"Yes, mere tour guide"

"To main yahan khada tha"

"Akhele ?"

"Haan... aur mujhe laga ki tum neeche ho... ab haso mat"

"Phir ?"

"Phir kya main jhat se neeche gaya to tum nikal rahi thi, to maine tumhara peecha kiya"

"Aur ?"

"Tum chalti gayi, road cross kiya aur us taraf chali gayi"

Sumo had already started walking in down the building. Shravan ran after her and caught up.

And on the way she saw Christ Church College.

"Yeh Harry Potter wala college hai na ?"

"Sumo ... tum jaanti ho ?" he teased

And she hit him hard on his hand.

"Aur thodi door... chal paogi ?" he asked as he felt her slow down. They had been walking for nearly 5 hours now.

"To main kahan gayi ?"

"To tum chalti gayi aur main tumhare peeche tumhe "Sumo" bulata gaya"

"Aur maine palat ke nahi dekha ?"

"Hmmm...nahi"

They were at Christ Church meadows. She realized that they were close to the river now.

"Aur yahan aake achanak tum gayab ho gayi" he said pointing to a spot near tree, just on the bank of the river.

The tree itself was red, yellow and magenta and to add to it the colors reflected in the river.

"Yeh tumhari favourite jagan hai ? Bohout khoobsoorat hai" she said dreamily

"Hamesha itna accha nahi dikhta, kaafi dull jagah hai yeh"

"Too nahee toh yeh bahar kya bahar hai

Gul nahee khile ke teraa intejar hai""

She knew at once, that this was the time and place. But Shravan continued.

"Chalen ?"

"Nahi, baite hain " and they sat by the banks of the river. Suman opened her bag and brought out some snacks, which she had picked up earlier.

"Shravan, ek baat poochon ?"

"Us din ke baad tum yahan kabhi aaye ?"

"Main jab bhi tumhe miss karta tha to yahin aata tha Sumo, London shift hone ke baad bi yahin aata tha"

"Aur ?" she knew he was hesitating to say something

"Mein chahta tha ki main tumhe yahin pe propose karoon"

"Aur ?"

"Tumhe pata kaise lag jaata hai ki main kuch chupa raha hoon ?"

"Tumhe kya lagta hai Shravan ki tum mujhse kabhi kuch chupa paoge ? " she asked

"Maine apna first case jeethne ke baad tumhare liye ek ring bhi liya"

"Diya kyon nahi ?"

He pulled it out from his pocket. It was a gold ring with the initials SS, one S within the other.

She held out her hand and he slid it along her ring finger. They both started laughing at once.

It was too big for her.

"Isliye nahi diya. Meri moti Sumo bohout patli ho gayi thee"

They sat there quiet for a very very long time, both so much in love, both so content that they were with each other, nothing else mattered at that moment.

It was almost sunset when Shravan finally spoke

"Chalen ?"

"Nahi.. " she said opening her bag again.

"Aur kuch hai kaane ko ?"

"Bukkad ! Tumahare liye kuch liya tha Shravan"

He was genuinely surprised

"Kholo, dhyan se, do chote gifts hain usme"

Shravan opened it and found a book and a cube.

"The Bates method, better eyesight without glasses?"

She had started laughing already.

"Tumhare yahan aane ke baad book exhibition mein liya tha"

"Aur ye cube ?"

It was not the normal cube, there were alphabets all over it, it was custom made.

"Solve karo, yeh bhi kaafi saal pehle liya tha"

It took him a minute but what he saw brought tears to his eyes.

I love you inscribed on 4 sides and two pictures of them embossed on the other two sides.

"I love you Shravan" she said and hugged him tightly

Shravan kissed her on her forehead.

Dil dhadak dhadak ke de raha hai yeh sada

Tumharee ho chukee hu mai, tumhare pas hu sada

Dil dhadak dhadak ke de raha hai yeh sada

Tumharee ho chukee hu mai, tumhare pas hu sada

Tum se meree jindagi ka yeh singar hai

Jee rahee hu mai ke mujhko tumse pyar hai

Tum se meree jindagi ka yeh singar hai

Jee rahee hu mai ke mujhko tumse pyar hai

Ke mujhko tumse pyar hai

Ke mujhko tumse pyar hai

"Suumooo... pata hai mujhe, par main bhi dar gaya tha, mujhe laga ki main tumhe rush kar raha hoon"

There were tears in both their eyes.

"Soch kaise lete ho aisi baaten Shravan ?"

"I love you too nahi bologe ? Mujhe baar baar sunna accha lagta hai" she continued

"I love you too Mrs.Malhotra" he couldn't stop smiling, hints were not needed anymore

"Ab chalen ?"

P.S : IF just informed me that the post was too big. Sorry, this was unexpected. Continued in the next post

They went back to the room after dinner. Some dreams do come true, after all; and sometimes when there is still a chance, we should pick up from where we left off.

As soon as they opened the door Nirmala called Shravan and they spoke about how nice Bangalore was. Sumo kept laughing in the background till Shravan passed on the phone to her.

He kept tickling her as she spoke till she chased him off. He took their nightclothes from the suitcase and went to change. Shravan rushed out of the washroom when it stuck him how quiet everything was but it was too late.h She had finished talking and he realised that he had forgotten to close the notes.

Sumo's face fell as she read the hints

"Sumo wants to spend time with me

Sumo is hiding something from me. She wants to spend time alone

Sumo cares for my family

Sumo is avoiding me

Sumo likes me

Sumo adores chashmish

She knows me in and out.

And yet she won't say she loves me ?

Sumo trusts me.

Sumo feels bad about the wedding

Sumo doesn't like me touching her things

Mere Husband" :)

Sumo is bored with my talking."

So this is what he had been doing on the phone. This is probably what he had wanted to write on the paper. Was she that difficult to understand? She was disappointed with herself, had she made him wait that long that he had to resort to this?

She didn't say anything.

Shravan felt he had blown it. Sach mein nazar lag gayi.

He cursed Bunty and the Math teacher. He wanted to talk about it but Sumo changed, switched off the lights and went straight to bed.

Shravan had no choice. He did the same. The moment he got under the blanket, he felt her move closer. Her lips were on his and she kissed him, more passionately than ever. She got up suddenly and he pulled her back but she freed herself.

"Suuumoo" he pleaded but stopped when he saw what she was doing.

She slid out of her night gown and right back into the blanket, and kissed him again, taking off his t-shirt

"Need any more hints Mr.Malhotra ?" she asked.

They made love passionately. It was as if their bodies were on fire. It was like nothing they expected or imagined, in fact it was slightly uncomfortable. They were not in sync and it was the first time for both of them. They were too careful not to hurt each other. He was worried if it was painful for her and she was wondering if he enjoyed it. When it was over, they could feel each other's smiles. She put her head on his bare chest and he kissed her hair. They both knew, that like everything else this too would fall in place. They were together now and nothing else mattered, nothing else would ever matter.

Nith This is AMAZING and ADORABLE 😳
Beginning with Shravan taking Sumo to Oxfard and packing her stuff,Husband and Wife goals *_*

Also I loved the Handbag and and Mobile fight,to adorable and your writing brought out the perfect essence of it!

Also I really really loved was the part where you mentioned that Oxfard has stolen her Chasmish and given a different Mr.Malhotra and DAMN that got me! Kudos fod thinking, going to that level and bringing it up.

That praposal bit by Sumo and the cube part was so unique and beautiful and your words just made it shine brighter.

Shravan being the baby he is, was so adorable.
Nith, you really leave me craving for more.

Haaahaa I so loved the baby Shravan's reaction while he got to know that Sumo had read all the hints and was probably pisssed.Had me in fits.

Then came Sumo being bold AF and taking of her nightgown along with Shravn's shirt and asking if he needed any more hints!
That was EPIC!

It was one heck of an update and you killed it!
Keep rocking.

Looking forward to more stories by you.
