I came across your lives in July, I was scrolling through Tumblr where a blog called Mystical Paradox would document your lives episode by episode, I also saw pictures of you guys being intimate and I was very very very eager to know what was this show, Ek Duje Ke Vaaste, About? I started from episode 1, and I started off being 105ish episodes behind, I caught up within 7 days, I watched 20-30 episodes each day, at uni, at home, before I slept (I was only sleeping 3 hours each night, because I needed to watch '1 more episode' which would become 5 more episodes). And so I would like to write a message for each and every one of the characters that touched my heart:
1) Shravan Malhotra:
When I first saw you, I found it comical how you towered over everybody, needless to say you were tallest Indian man I had ever come across - I live in Australia and caucasian men are generally taller. Little did I know I had fallen hard for your looks, and then I saw how petty you were, you humiliated Sumo in front of everyone, and yet instead of being mad at you I wondered why? We saw moments of your childhood, being the sweet teenager you were, and I wondered what happened to him that he became ruthless now. Then I saw you regret, regret what you had done and saw what had happened all those years ago and how deeply they affected you. My heart went out to you Shravan. Then during the Khosla case I saw how smart and suave you were, I fell in love with another shade of yours. Sass. I jokingly started to call you 'Shravan Sassy Malhotra' because aapko 'sasti cheezon ka shauk nahi hai' and I got to say my favourite scene was when you slapped Varma and as he says, "tujhpe manhani ka case tokhunga" and you reply with anger in your eyes and confidence in your voice, "Physical assault ka bhi thok" and slap him again. During the case you and Sumo got closer and I was rooting for you two the whole time, you guys deserved each other. But then things took a turn, and I started to see how badly whatever happened to you 10 years ago affected you, my heart bled for you. I understood each and every emotion of yours and saw how similar we are as people, when we love, we love completely without wanting much in return, and betrayal hurts us the most. No matter what you did, what you said even when you said the 'sab kuch' thing to Aditya, I didn't ever blame you, in fact I defended you. I knew you were a broken man who craved for love. I knew your biggest insecurity was abandonment. You may feel weak, but Shravan you are stronger than most, the ability to forgive someone no matter how much they've wronged you so easily is condemnable only because you love them. Whoever you love is lucky to have you, to know that when Shravan Malhotra loves you, he will stand by you no matter how much his brain tells him to run away. You are man of righteousness, life has been cruel to you and you still do whatever you think is right. So with this farewell, I want you to know that I know you may not be real, but to me you are more real than reality, and even in 10 years time you will see me watching your episodes again and again and again, and all I want is that wherever you are you stay happy.
2) Suman Tiwari/Malhotra:
When I saw you for the first time I was blown away, you were the opposite to any other female lead I had watched, and I absolutely loved it. You were also someone who life had been a bitch to, but not once did you show it anyone. You found happiness in the little things, and you didn't let things affect you unless it was your work or Shravan. Yes, people misunderstood you, I was one of those people, but now I came to realise something. You were never a person that voiced her feelings easily, maybe that was because of your childhood, or you had learnt to accept life as it comes. You would rather show than tell. You were strong, independent and a #bawse. I loved the way you handled people and the way you would go from a lioness to a quite middle-class girl depending on who you talked to. People doubted your love for Shravan but I understand, you loved him when he came back, you dressed up for him, you cooked his favourite sev ki sabzi, you became the person he would open up to, you knew him inside out, you confronted him when needed, you showed you could do anything for his trust, you made his mother's dal for him, you could never say "I love you" to Aditya because you knew within yourself that no one deserves those words other than Shravan. You loved him and showed it through the little things whether it was trying to bring his mother back, or keeping the truth of his father from him so you don't hurt him. You showed everyone to show someone you love them you don't need to do extravagant gestures, just calling them every morning/night can show your love for them. Yes, your methods were wrong, very wrong, but that didn't make you wrong. You were trying to fix your best friend's life and you probably didn't know how to do it, but you tried, for his happiness, and this backfired on you as well. Sometimes people made you the villain, sometimes you made yourself the villain, but your heart was still made of gold and that's all that matters. I admire the fact that when you know you are right and have hurt someone, you would apologise for hurting them, but not for what you had done. It shows that you aren't fake, and you don't do things that you don't believe in and this is what is your biggest strength. Despite being lonely, despite feeling that all of the world's responsibilities are on your shoulders, you never let go of that positive attitude, and when your marriage with Aditya was fixed, that was the first time I saw you break, and I was glad that you pulled through. Thankyou Sumo, for being Sumo and I pray that your smile continues to brighten up everyone's day, and you have 2 kids, a daughter as tall as the Eiffel Tower and a son as tall as Burj Khalifa (because Qutub Minar ke bache peeche nahi rehne chahiye!)
3) Kamini Chachi:
You were an enigma! I loved how you would try and get what you want and when one method didn't work you would have 20 up your sleeve. You gave us hope that when Shravan and Suman were fighting you would get them together. You don't take shit from anyone no matter who it is and the way you kept it real when Ramnath blamed you for Shravan's behaviour, you showed him who's boss. I loved your eye shadows, your sarees, the way you held yourself and ofcourse the 'Kuchvi, ainvayi", you showed how much you loved your son, that even if you didn't like Preethi, you tried for Pushkar, because in his happiness you found your own.
4) Pushkar Malhotra:
You are a positive, chirpy cutie who tells people that they don't want to her. The way you just straight up told Sumo that day at PCT, "You love bhaiyya", without warning, was condemnable, you win for being the biggest ShraMan shipper, and the way you told your bhaiyya off, no matter what, you did not give any f**ks that the bhaiyya that the whole world feared, when he had done something wrong, you would make sure to tell him. Also the speed of your 'seed' is shocking ;) (2 weeks and she's already pregnant?!)
5) Ramnath Malhotra
You are a mystery, no matter how much anyone tries to hate you, we can't. You are our Ramu Kaka, we would've liked to hate you for what you had done to Shravan, but I couldn't, because you loved him, and yes, your love was selfish, but you loved him and in his love you rectified your mistake, and that in itself shows that Shravan was your life.
Thankyou to all of you even the ones I didn't mention for becoming a part of my life, I will try my level best to do justice to you through my writing. I hope mami gets to be with Anuj, Nanu stops getting heart attacks, Preeti and Pushkar's child is healthy, Vandy continues to Slayyy, Varun understands that he has a wife, and Nirmala finds a new recipe other than Dal (I feel so sorry for the Malhotra clan that your signature dish is dal out of all things)
