One is running from past, Other is stuck in it...

That's the conclusion I can draw from what I saw of ShraMan last night. Both of them are at fault here, yet justified in their own way.

Talking of Sumo, Last night most of us, including me, were not too happy with the way Sumo responded to Shravan's request. When she disapproved of letting the Malhotras do the expenses of the marriage, at the face of it, she appeared more egoistic and selfish than someone who values self-respect. But when I analyze this again, I can so see where this girl is coming from. Her whole life she had given up on her happiness and choice just because she was never the master of her own life. Her decisions, her choices always had to be dependent on the way her masters (mama-mami) wished. Well because she was indebted to them for bringing her up and giving her a home, for making her an educated independent woman...For which she has been re-paying them in all forms, be it money, her happiness, her decisions or even her love 😭 And thats why now when she is starting this new life with Shravan, she wants only herself to be the master of her life, of their life. With her decisions dependent and directly linked to Shravan from now on, she does not want to take any help from anyone and let them become her master once again (Ramnath in this case). Yes after marriage Shravan's money/belongings would also have been hers and vice-a-versa and she would have had full right over them and no one would be able to say anything if she spent it all but till they weren't married, she accessing a right over Shravan's money, especially for wedding expenses would once again in-debt her of her in-laws/Ramnath, which she definitely didn't want. This was not her ego, but her fear of again losing the control of her life (now Shravan's as well). But in all this she fails to realize the extreme hurt she is causing to the man who is totally unaware about the devilish face of his father. If not empathy I atleast expect sympathy for Shravan from Sumo; sympathy for him being fooled so bad by his own father whom he regards as his hero 💔

As of Shravan, the guy is totally stuck in past thanks to the repeated mentions by Ramnath of the so called betrayal by his mom and more than that, Nirmala stamping all those allegations rightfully with her actions 😡 Add to that Sumo's coldness and rejection in childhood...He just cannot come out of it! He has formed this pre-conceived notion that whatever Sumo does is for her own happiness just like the childhood days and beyond that non one's feelings matter for her And sadly these notions have blinded him off basic logic as well. He cant see through her hopes, her tears and her love. He doesn't introspect if she really was baiting for rich men as prospective grooms why the hell would she not wish for an all expenses paid lavish wedding?

So in a way both of them are wrong and right at their own places. While one wishes to let go off her past even if it somehow destroys the present, the other wants to be stuck there, being totally oblivious to the changed scenarios of today.

And I can really wish and imagine how amazingly intriguing this journey of bridging the gaps between these two obstinate lovers will be...And I am totally trusting CVs with it this time. I think there's a reason the cvs are behind the screen and we are in front of it. They always stump us with the character graphs and variations of the protagonists and thats the difference of thinking between the creators and the audience. If we can presume everything, whats the fun of it?😉

Malika,
Amazing post... Very well put across thoughts...
I'm also waiting for the beautiful journey to unfold... Yes it will be tough but they will tide over n be triumphant...
Yesterday was a brilliant episode... Full on dhamaka despite who was at fault n how much... I loved every bit of it... Coz it as hilarious as meaningful, as sassy as shocking... Everything about yesterday... The dialogues, the looks, the attitude, the overall impact was superb...
Bring it on, I say... I'm eagerly waiting for the journey of these two people where they both learn n grow...together...

In a way Shravan did a favor...

Yeah she may feel bad as this was not what she hoped...

A wonderful post Malika!

Are conflicts mere disagreements? Nah..to most of the people conflicts are THREATS! That is how Shravan sees conflicts too. He sees conflicts in a bad rap and thus desires relationships to be completely conflict-free..Parental model acts as a relationship template for a child and therefore Shravan completely lack the skills to face a conflict, let alone resolving it..No wonder he wants everyone in his family to be happy and at any cost..

On the other hand Sumo sees conflicts as problems that will fade away with time but still insists from the outset on her initial solution or opinion rather than trying to understand Shravan's underlying concern. Selling her POV to Shravan does not work for them and thus settling even a smallest discussion turns into a battle...I don't want her to bow down to other's demand when it is about something that she feels strongly about, but at least take time to question the level of importance of the matter at hand...

Shravan need to realize that conflicts are mere disagreements that are unavoidable, even important and necessary while Suman needs to understand to find a solution that works for both of them, and even more importantly, that gets created by both of them...

And communication is the bedrock for successful conflict resolution.

Eagerly looking forward to see Shraman's journey of rising in love - a learning, a changing, a maturity (as both of them are truly devoted towards making this relationship work, albeit in a different manner at the moment).
