Hi Rosh,

nice post...😊

My views pre and post watching epi were vastly different and here is why...

At the very outset, let me just say that Shravan insinuating about a physical relationship with Sumo to anyone is a lie and that is the first and foremost thing that is wrong about this... However, that is by no means any reason for Aditya to fly off the handle. A person's past relationship is the person's personal business. If anyone thinks otherwise...i presume they have a lot of learning to do...so back to the learning board...😡 Also anyone can say anything...it does not mean u go about molesting anyone...nothing justifies this!!

Also, I feel the sequence is a bit more nuanced than how the forum is viewing it and by that I mean even those who are disappointed with Shravan. When I saw the sequence, it clearly looked like an attempt to get a rise out of Adi...nothing more nothing less. I am not going to dwell on the motives for now becos Shravan's misogyny may be mixed in this...but let that be kept aside for a minute

Another thing...one is this assumption that talk like this compromises a woman's character. The way all of us are reacting means we consider our "modesty" outraged by such talk..However, that means we still see these issues from society's age-old mores We should stop viewing a woman's character from the prism of a man's world. A world, where there is some shame for a woman for some conduct and no shame for a man's similar conduct...MY question is why? Imagine this conversation in a gender sensitised world where there are no qualms about this aspect...the thing we called a "outraging a woman's modesty". Imagine the opposite, women getting together and discussing their past relationships with men...would it affect the men in any way...so big deal!! why should it affect women in any way...If men can't learn how to react to such matters...let them go back and learn how to react to such issues...or better still let them be bred well!!.

Having said this...its terribly important that they don't make this about any loss of Sumo's self respect becos that is not the issue. the Issue is of a man molesting a girl based on heresay (it can be anyone making any kind of insinuations but that does not allow the person to do what is to follow) I hope the CVs show it as a case of Shravan asking Sumo..."What were u smoking when u agreed to marry this lout?" for me that would be real emancipation...sorry if my views look too incongruent..

The reason why I say this...if they make this about Shravan apologising for his conduct it somewhere would mean that Aditya had a right to behave the way he did...This would make it similar to the scene where ASR in IPK told Khushi after Anjali's abortion attempt that "if u had not come in my life, my did and Shyam would have led a great life" Sorry no way can that be justified...

Can I expect the CVs to be sensible about this...Yes if Namik's tweet is anything to go by...

i was feeling pushed by those two, how can we not expect him to go over the brink, given his already volatile reactions to this woman..

he has never been able to control himself when it comes to her.

he was bad. he forgot that this was sumo he talked about. it will hit him. but before that, he needed to hit adi. damn, i needed to hit adi. i am so done with his steely, weird glinty eyes.

but what shravan did wasnt meant to hurt sumo. he knows its not true, so he said it, not imagining for a minute that it can harm sumo. perhaps he even felt he was doing her a favour helping her get rid of this pestilence, all the while giving effect to his subconscious desire to stop this marriage. not defending him.

but compare it to what adi did? he went and molested sumo? are these two comparable????

one is wrong, other is a heinous crime, against women and nature. shravan can and will redeem himself. but no matter what, cannot justify molestation or the attempt to box these 2 in the same category.

Nothing justifies a physical assault or molestation... If Aditya had a problem with what Shravan said.. The max he could do is cancel the wedding.. But it does not warrant a molestation... You can't do that... You can't put them in the same bracket also..
How can you... One is a mistake which wasn't even about tarnishing Sumo's character... And the other like you said a crime..

Rekha,
Thanks.
Absolutely... Nothing Shravan says/said could have made Aditya want to go n physically assault a girl.. It's his own demon n can't be put on anyone else...
Yes Shravan never tried to tarnish Sumo's character.. He wanted to hit back at chomu n that is what he did.. The issue like you said is he demeaned his friendship... Which was wrong...
No it wasn't outraging her modesty... Bcz Shravan's intention was never that. And he didn't mean it like that too..
The rest of it... I agree absolutely on this.

First of all, I don't think you need to apologise for having a different view. It just means you interpret the situation differently.

Completely agree about Aditya. Nothing nothing justifies sexual assault and molestation. Whatever Shravan said (even if he had said worse than what he said), his anger should have been directed at Shravan not Suman.

Regarding what Shravan said today, yes I am sad and disappointed. I think it was demeaning considering the kind of relation they share. I understand his anger at Nirmala and Aditya, but I wish it was done differently.

Did not watch IPK, so cannot follow that exactly, but to me Shravan should apologise not because of what Aditya did, because he is not responsible for that, but his own words and actions.

I hope the CVs show good stuff henceforth. Too much angst now, I cannot deal with it anymore. And I am someone who loves angst. Lol!!

Hi Rekha (if I may call you by your name) , my pre and post reactions have been very different for a few episodes now. Before watching I am actually jumping to conclusions and after I watch it I kind of understand where this is going, so hi5 on that !

Another thing I completely agree with you is that if there was a past relationship, it is the past and Sumo doesn't have to tell anyone unless she wishes to. I don't see where intimacy comes into play, at all. How does it matter ? Does this mean that relationships in which there is physical intimacy are deeper or more intense (bad vocab I know ) than ones without it ? Is there a scale to measure relationships then ?

What saddened me was that Shravan was now behaving like Sumo, not thinking about consequences but reacting to the situation. What he said cannot be justified, I stick by that but I think there was a lot more leading to it that what I had initially assumed. All Shravan was trying to do was this, Adithya I'll tell you exactly what you wanted to hear, now deal with it.
Both Shravan and Adithya are adults and hence they are responsible for their actions. If they chose to act this way they have to face the consequences for their actions. The irony is that the whatever they both are doing is actually going to hurt the woman they claim to love and they both are not thinking about her.

Many times on this forum I have wished there was a "Love" button instead of the more generic "Like"... This last paragraph, Nith, gave me such a moment... Yes, that's the let down...

Hmmm..read your replies...

I am not all defending Shravan...I am just providing a nuanced view on this..Let me try to explain myself better when I said that Shravan should not apologise for his conduct...
Imagine a scenario...where Adi molests Sumo and then he is say kicked out...let me here play the devil's advocate (no I don't mean Adi's advocate 😆!!)

what is Shravan supposed to feel? Remorse that he spoke in that fashion to Adi that got him in that state? or Relief that Sumo is out of harm's way? or A bit of anger that Sumo let herself be subjected to all this? (by this I don't mean molestation...but the agony of being involved with a man she did not clearly love) For me its is relief and anger but not remorse...Think about this deeply...the remorse can only be for his misogyny that perhaps equates his thinking to men like Adi..at some level. Which is why I maintain as women we need to examine our positions at every step so that we are not falling for the positions of misogyny ourselves even as we talk of our self-respect.

My view is that CVs have not completely thought thru when they decided to turn Shravan into a misogynist. Its a tuf role to give your male protagonist. I am not sure how well they will handle this issue from here on.

What Shravan said and the reason he said this is at the core of the issue. What was his intention behind saying this... Lets just say his main intention was to get a rise out of Adi, because he is constantly troubling him on the issue of his friendship with Sumo. So he says it okay...there u go...deal with this...now this is the part I am not comfortable with becos ..it somewhere means that this is an aspect that men like Shravan, Aditya consider a matter to get hassled over...That was the main reason for my discomfort. At that moment it equated Shravan and Aditya. If Shravan had said this as a man not having any misogynistic traits...I would have condoned it as a ploy to irritate the highly irritating Aditya but unfortunately that is not true..so Shravan has to get his ideas about women in order soon...So how they will treat this issue now on will determine how Shravan's characterisation shapes up.

I don't know if I explained my stance better. Its just that I don't consider it a big issue that the marriage will break on this ground. It is better it breaks on this ground becos men like Aditya have to accept that that a past relationship is no reason to force a woman to comply. If the past makes you insecure, first learn to deal with it...Having said that, Shravan had no business lying about that matter not becos it has anything to do with that so called "female modesty" but simply becos it was a lie and Sumo was not part of that convo. So essentially what he indulged in is trash talk which he has to apologise for.

This!!!
Absolutely agreed.
He gave Aditya what he has been pestering him for all this time. When he gave it, Aditya couldn't handle it.. And that in no way is Shravan's fault..
