A/N: This is based off the current PreeKar wedding track, but I am 115% sure this won't happen in the show but the idea wouldn't leave my head.
X-X-X-X-X-XShraMan OS: A Blessing in Disguise"That's everything." Preeti smiled looking at all the bags.
"Pushkar ki reception waali sherwani nahi hai." Shravan said looking at the shopkeeper who flipped through the papers frantically wondering how he had missed that.
"Oh! Alterations mein hai, give me ten minutes." The shopkeeper said before disappearing behind a door marked "employees only".
"Di, mujhe saath waali dukaan sai choodiyan dekhni hai, so Shravan and Aditya hum car ke paas miltai hai?" Preeti smiled looking at the two of them. Shravan nodded, his eyes on Sumo who refused to look at him. "Chalo Di!" Preeti said dragging her out of the shop. Suman breathed a sigh of relief, being around Shravan and his intense stares was taking a toll on her and she was glad to get away for a while. The way he looked at her made it hard to look away, his eyes seemed almost pleading, asking her a million questions that she couldn't answer.
Shravan sighed as Sumo walked out, wondering what it would take for her to just talk to him. He felt like she wanted to say something but was holding herself back and trying to figure her out was harder than any case he had ever handled, and he had handled a lot of difficult ones.
"How excited are you for the reception bro? Tum dance-wance toh karletai ho naa, or are you too cool to dance?" Aditya laughed with his normal exuberance causing Shravan to roll his eyes as the shopkeeper returned with two bags and handed it to Shravan with a smile.
"Thank you." Shravan said before turning and walking towards the exit.
"Doosre bag mein kya hai?" Aditya asked curiously as they stepped out of the shop, they both caught sight of the girls standing by the car talking.
"I hope ki tumne Sumo ke saath PCT ke baare mein baat karli hai." Shravan said to Aditya, refusing to answer his earlier question.
"Abhi nahi bro, tum bahut zyada hi worry kartai ho, chill." Aditya said.
"Mein Sumo ko jaanta hoon, woh iss sabse khush nahi hogi." Shravan murmured.
"Tumhe nahi lagta ki yeh decision uss par chodh dena chahiye. Kya pata Suman ko koi problem naa ho." Aditya retorted as they started walking across the street. "Waise bhi tum itne sure kaise ho sakte ho?"
"Tumhare liye woh Suman hai, meri liye woh Sumo hai, meri best friend, I've known her for half my life." Shravan said.
"Best friends? Aisa lagta toh nahi hai, tum dono toh aise act karte ho jaise tum dono ajnabee ho." Aditya scoffed causing Shravan to roll his eyes, his eyes going to Sumo who was staring at them intently from a few feet away.
Sumo was leaning against Shravan's Mercedes as Preeti went on about how hard it was to find perfectly matching choodiyan. She saw the two of them walk out of the stop and immediately noticed that Shravan's body was stiff, like he was trying to hold in the anger, she didn't miss that Aditya seemed to get on Shravan's nerves. Aditya was a lot too handle sometimes, but he was a nice person.
They seemed to be arguing about something as they walked across the road, completely unaware of their surroundings. Sumo's eyes widened as she saw a car whizzing towards the two of them at full speed, but the two of them were too engrossed in their conversation with each other. Her eyes locked with Shravan's just as the car hit the brakes coming to a screeching halt, but still hitting Aditya and Shravan and knocking them off their feet and onto the ground before it came to a full stop.
Sumo felt like time had slowed down as panic crept up her spine and her heart sank with utter dread. It took her less than five seconds to put everything together and act, but she felt like her feet were tied to rocks and she couldn't move fast enough even as she ran across the road. Her throat felt parched but she heard herself yell out "SHRAVANNN", her voice resonated through the air, she could hear Preeti behind her but she was too focused on Shravan's body on the road to pay heed to Preeti's words. The thought of Shravan being hurt and in pain made her heart clench painfully and her stomach to sink.
Sumo fell to her knees beside Shravan and grabbed his face in her hands, picking the upper half of his body off the floor. She could feel the tears running down her face as she repeatedly said his name trying to get him to open his eyes. "Shravan! Shravan! Open you eyes, mujhse baat karo! Shravan!" She cried brushing his hair away from his face. "Shravannn!"
Preeti sat beside Aditya who was sitting up, with just scratches on the hand he had fallen on, Shravan was closer to the car and had taken most of the hit. Aditya was taken aback by what he was seeing. He had heard her scream Shravan's name and bolt across the street like she could see nothing else, she hadn't even cared that there were cars around or that Preeti was running after her. She just made a beeline for Shravan, completely ignoring him as well.
Tears streamed down Sumo's face as she remembered her own accident and it just caused her to yell louder. She quietened when she saw his eyes twitch, he let out a groan as his eyes opened and met hers. "Sumo, puri Delhi ko mera naam sunana hai kya, mere kaan." He groaned lifting himself up so he was sitting on the road rather than laying on it. Sumo still had his face between her hands and a small smile appeared on her face.
"You idiot!" She said whacking his arm with her left hand. "Dekhkar nahi chal sakte kya? Tumhe kuch hojata toh? Mujhe laga ki-" Her voice broke at the end thinking back to her own accident. Shravan smiled at her slightly because of the way she was acting, finally like the old Sumo.
"Pata hai." He murmurred, and the pain she saw in his eyes told her that he was thinking about her accident too, and she knew that he must have felt a hundred times worse because she was covered in blood and unconscious. "At least mein hosh mein toh hoon, tum toh maharani ki tarah beyhosh hogai thi." He teased to ease the pain he saw in her eyes.
"Not funny Shravan." She said rolling her eyes and rubbing his cheek with her thumb, her right hand was still cupping his cheek, her left one rested on his bicep where she had whacked him.
"Tum theek ho Aditya?" Preeti's voice broke through the little bubble they were both in, both of their eyes widened when they realized that Sumo had completely ignored Aditya. Guilt welled up in Sumo, Aditya was the last thing on her mind, even though she had seen him get hit by the car too, she couldn't think beyond Shravan for a moment.
"Haan, mein Shravan kai peeche tha, mujhe zyada nahi lagi." He smiled at Preeti as he got up. Sumo sighed and got up pulling Shravan with her, it would have been impossible if he didn't pull himself up though. Sumo noticed that he wasn't putting any weight on his left foot.
"Phir se sprain?" She asked looking up at him. Shravan smiled remembering the last time he had sprained the same foot, and she had showed up at his house with a million things and plans.
"Delhi brahaman phir se cancel, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and popcorn fights on." He said on purpose, trying to keep her the way she was acting right now, he had missed this, the care, the banter and the ease.
The driver of the car was standing to the side, his face apologetic as he waited for them to acknowledge him. "I am so sorry!" He said when the conversation lulled. "Meine aapko dekha hi nahi, yeh road hi itna curved hai ki door sai dikhtha nahi hai-."
"Haan, toh iska yeh matlab nahi hai ki aap aise gaadi chalaye, itni speed sai! Agar aapko pata hai ki yeh jagah theek nahi hai toh aapko sambhal ke chalana chahiye na! ITNA LAMBA QUTUB MINAR DIKHA NAHI AAPKO? Aandhe hai app? License kaha hai aapka, license dikhayi mujhe, police ko bulati hoon mai abhi, aise kaise- dhfsdofdkd." Shravan's hand covered her mouth to stop her with a small chuckle.
"I am so sorry." The driver said looking at Shravan, realizing that he was probably the more sane one right now despite his accident.
"Koi baat nahi, hota hai." Shravan said, he was actually thankful for getting hit because it brought his Sumo back.
"AEKAIEHTRAVNNN." Sumo yelled against Shravan's hand.
"Aapki biwi...bahut caring hai." The guy said looking towards Suman who was glaring at him.
"Jee, Pushpa toh aisi hi hai." He smiled causing Sumo's eyes to shoot up at Shravan with a glare as Preeti and Aditya looked between the two of them with confusion. The man got back into his car after giving them his card to contact him if they needed anything.
"OUCH!" Shravan yelped when Sumo bit his hand.
"Usse jaane kyun diya?!" She said whacking him.
"Yaar, tum ek ghayal aadmi ko aur maar rahi ho."
"Moch aaye hai tumhe, tsunami nahi aagaye hai! Ghayal aadmi." She said rolling her eyes.
"Abhi toh itna zor zor sai chila rahi thi, mere kaan abhi bhi baj rahe hain."
"Shut up, aur ghar chalo." She said looking at him with narrowed eyes before turning to Aditya. "Tum chal sakte ho naa?" She asked him and he nodded. Sumo turned to Shravan again and wrapped her arm around his waist, and he put his arm around her shoulder as they made their way towards the car. "Iski aadat si par rahi tumhe." She mumbled as they limped towards the car with Preeti and Aditya behind them.
Sumo got a devious look on her face when she realized that she would be driving his Mercedes. She unwrapped her arm from around him and reached into his pocket picking out the keys. "Sumo nooo." He groaned.
"Shut up, tum drive nahi kar sakte." She said opening the passenger door and helping him get in the car as Preeti and Aditya got into the back of the car.
"Be careful." Shravan said as she sat in the driver's seat.
"Are you calling me a bad driver?" She snapped.
"Nahi, just- dhyan sai." He mumbled causing her to roll her eyes.
"Preeti, Pushkar kar ko phone karo aur usse kaho ki Dr. Arora ko ghar bulaye. " Suman said to Preeti who nodded taking out her phone.
"Iski koi-" Shravan started
"Chup." Suman said.
Aditya sat in the back of the car his head processing the events of the past few minutes, so much had happened that he needed time to process it all. It was like a huge curtain had been lifted and revealed the real Shravan and Sumo. He figured that this must be their normal relationship.
He had written of the intense glances and how they seemed to just know each other to time, even when Dabboo had brought up that they were best friends he didn't think much of it because they didn't seem like they were. But seeing them today made him re-evaluate every interaction he had with them. He figured that there was definitely something going on between them, and that something was bothering the two of them - maybe a fight - which led to the cold behaviour he had been observing since he had gotten here. He couldn't believe that he hadn't put that together before, thinking back, Sumo's discomfort and the way she looked at Shravan should have indicated something. And Shravan's words about knowing her, and his dislike of him made sense because they clearly had a thing.
And today, the way Suman ran across the road screaming and fell by him with tears streaming down her face - like nothing else apart from Shravan existed - that is when it had really hit him. He had also felt a nudging pain that she had completely ignored him, but he was glad that he had figured out that Shravan and Suman has something going on before he fell too hard.
Their banter, the way he teased her to make her stop crying, and the way they kept referring to past events made him realize that their relationship ran deeper than he had initially thought. They were suddenly so at ease with each other, she cupped his face like she had done it hundreds of times before, she picked up that his ankle was twisted in a second, he put his hand over her mouth without even thinking, she wrapped his arm around his waist and let him use her as a crutch like they had done it so many times before.
Even now, she was driving but she kept peering over at him every chance she got, like he was going to disappear or something. And Shravan was smiling, no one smiled after they got into an accident, but Aditya figured he was smiling because his equation with Suman shifted again. The coldness had just evaporated and they seemed to be on good terms again.
Shravan breathed a sigh of relief as Sumo pulled up outside the Malhotra mansion without a mishap. She rolled her eyes at him but didn't say anything as she got out of the car to see Pushkar rushing out of the house.
"Tum sab theek toh ho?" He asked as soon as he saw Sumo. Sumo nodded as Pushkar propped the car door open. Shravan hoisted himself out of the car and Sumo wrapped her arm around his waist again as they maneuvered inside of the house leaving Pushkar to check over Aditya.
"Shravan Puttar! Aah ki karleya?" Kamini Chachi gasped as Suman made Shravan sit down on the couch pulling his left leg up.
"Mein ice lekar aaye." Sumo murmured before disappearing into the kitchen and coming back with an ice-pack a minute later. Kamini smiled when Sumo lifted Shravan's foot into her lap and held the ice pack against it. Shravan let out a hiss and Sumo let out a laugh and arched her eyebrow at him and she knew exactly what she was thinking mard ko dard nahi hota naa. He just glared back and Aditya sat to the side feeling like he was missing yet another inside joke.
The doctor came and looked over both Shravan and Aditya, they were fine apart from a few scratches that warranted tetanus shots and Shravan's sprained ankle that needed to be iced. Sumo had to look away while Aditya got the shot making Shravan laugh and shake his head at her. "Hospital mein pata hai tumhe kitne injections mile thai." He murmured as Dr. Arora came to him and gave him a tetanus shot too.
"Ugh, yaad mat karao." Sumo groaned.
"Agar Suman ka bas chalta toh ek bhi injection nahi lagwati. Yeh toh Shravan lai aata hai aur usse distract kar leta hai, nahi toh." Dr. Arora laughed pulling the needle out of Shravan's arm. "Arm mein thodi soreness aur dard mehsoos hogi, but that's normal."
"Thank you Doctor." Lala ji smiled before showing Dr. Arora out leaving everyone else in the living room on the Malhotra mansion.
"Kya bhaiyaa, mere shaadi hai aur aap phir apna ankle sprain karke beth gaye." Pushkar whined.
"Koi baat nahi puttar, Suman hai naa, pichle baar ki tarah phir theek kardegi isko." Kamini Chachi said gleefully, she had noticed that Suman had been avoiding Shravan and now she wouldn't which would make Ramnath angry.
Shravan's eyes met Sumo's as both of them thought back to the last time they were sitting right there. She gave him a small smile, still holding the ice pack against his ankle.
"Kya hua?" Ramnath's voice came from the door.
Shravan's face took on a confused look as Sumo tensed and dropped the ice pack, her eyes going to Ramnath. Shravan looked up at his dad to see him watching Suman with a peculiar face, he looked back at Sumo who got up and excused herself without even looking at him again. The interaction left him confused, and his heart sank when he realized that Sumo had just put the walls back up again. He couldn't help but notice that she was completely fine until his dad had spoken.
Aditya sat on the couch noticing the exact same thing that Shravan was noticing, and he wondered what the deal was. Suman had been gravitating around Shravan like he was her sun until a few seconds ago, but as soon as his father had walked in she had left with a sad face. Aditya sat back into the couch and let his gears turn, he had always been a fan of mysteries.
This was supposed to be an one-shot that stopped right when Shravan realized that Sumo is back to being her normal self...but I have a problem that I can't stop writing once I start. I feel like there are a lot of loose ends to tie up here, I don't know how many parts it will take so I am just labelling it a TS (two/three shot) right now to encourage myself to be concise. My friend keeps pointing out that I am obsessed with Aditya being ShraMan's saviour and idk why but I feel like he's here for that, I don't hate him, he's such a cupcake, just an over-friendly cupcake.
