Suman was on the terrace of the banquet hall,tears were building up in her eyes.Her heart just wanted to let go, to cry it out but her mind was trying to stop the tears. There was no one else she rationalized and at the same moment the mind gave up and she let them go. As each drop fell,she felt lighter,she only wished she could cry out aloud. Music was loud downstairs in the banquet hall, no one would hear her and there were so many people, no one would miss her.She was wrong.The moon was shining in its full glory. Another full moon,she reflected, how different it had been.
"Zindagi, kahan kahan se, guzarti chali gayi?
Main sochti rahi, sochti hi rahe gayi...
Zindagi, kahan kahan, se guzarti chali gayi? "
With both hands on the parapet wall Suman looked upward towards the stars to her mother,she would jump from there right now and join her had it not been her sister's wedding. What she had thought will be one of the best nights of her life had turned out to be a nightmare. They had rehearsed together,he was supposed to be there. But Adithya showed up. She was too shocked to do anything else on stage. She had to dance, she couldn't run away then. In each beat of the song she missed him, she yearned for his touch, somehow Adhithya's hands felt different to her, they were not soft in handling her like Shravan. She kept looking for him as they danced and found him seated at the very end, in a corner, turning away not willing to see her dance with another guy. It hurt her even more. How much more could she lie to him ?
"Kehta hai dil, ab tujhme samaa jaon.
Ankhon se teri dekho, tere labse muskurao.

Just then she felt someone pull her dress. She turned towards her right, still holding the wall with her left hand.
"Didi, yahan kya kar rahe ho ?" Daboo asked
She quickly wiped her tears and smiled for his sake.
"Aise hi Dabbu, thoda dizzy feel kar rahi thi, yahan acchi hawa hai na"
"Didi, jhoot bholna acchi baat nahi hai, maine dekha aap ro rahi thi"
"Nahi to"
"Didi, aap sach bolo, aap to Shravan bhaiya ke saat dance karne wali thi na ? Aapne unhe miss kiya ? Isliye ro rahi thi na ?"
"Chup Daboo tu aj kal thoda zyaada nahi bolne laga ?"
"Bas haan ya na bolo Didi"
"Haan Daboo, bohout miss kiya"
"Shravan bhaiya ne bhi aap ko bohout miss kiya, unke aankhon mein bhi aasoo the"
Thats when it struck her, Shravan had wanted to dance too, but someone had forced Adithya to dance instead. She knew who it was.
"Daboo, yeh baat kisi ko mat batana ki mai ro rahi thi. Preeti ki shaadi hai, chalo neeche jao, main abhi aayi"
"Oh my God Didi, kya mai kisi ek ko bata sakta hoon ?"
"Kyon ?"
"Kyonki Shravan bhaiya ko pata chal gaya hai na ?"
She felt his hand on her left hand which was on the wall.
"Shravan Bhaiya, mere sau rupai kahan hain ?"
"Yeh ho"
Daboo took the money and ran downstairs. Shravan turned Suman to face him. He took her right hand and placed on his head.
"Tumhe meri kasam Sumo, bolo kya baat hai, sach bolo"
And thats all was needed. He listened to every thing she said, every syllable, every breath, every pause, so intently as if nothing else was around them.
"Sumo maine tumhari saari baatein sun li, ab to rona band karo, dekho kya halat bana rakhi hai apni ?"
She stopped crying and smiled faintly.
"Accha tum bolo, us din coffee pe kyon bulaya tha ?"
"Teek hai batata hoon. Pehle aankhen band karo"
Kuch baat hai adhoori, kuch raat adhoori hai.
Hoti jo akele main, mulaqaat adhoori hai.

Har aarzoo hamari, taras ti hi rahe gayi...

As soon as she closed her eyes, Shravan held both her hands and titled her head upwards.
"Ab kholo aankhen aur dekho sitaron ko"
"Baat to batao Shravan"
"Jab tak hum dono sitare nahi ban jaathe , tab tak kya tum mera saath dogi, ek dost banke nahi, meri humsafar banke ?"
She looked down and saw that he meant every word he said.
"Kisi aur ke bare mein mat socho, mere liye bhi nahi, bas apne dil main kya hai woh bolo"
She said nothing, instead she just moved closer and hugged him.
"Sitare ban jaane ke baad bhi rahoongi mai"
"Isi baat ka tho intezaar Sumo"
"Lekhin uncle"
"Chup, main dekh loonga, mujhpe barosa hain na ?"
"Hmmm" she mumbled
He hugged her more tightly than ever, the biggest dream of his life had come true. The moon shined upon them, but it was their love that filled the moonlight !
