Hey! So I'm back with an OS. This one's for
as I lost to her in a challenge. So this one's for you my darling! Hope you like it.đ¤đ
Since many of the PreeKar rituals are covered, I'm giving an insight into our Gujarati customs, for a change. Again, hoping that it's well received!đł
"Maine chun li hai woh ladki, aur woh mere saamne khadi hai", he said quite confidently.
"Yeh tum.. kya keh.. rahe ho, mere kuch samajh nahi aa raha", she mumbled and stepped ahead to leave only to be pulled back to him by a strong force.
"Ab tumharaa haath thaam liya hai Sumo, ab nahi chodoonga, I promise.", He winked
"Bohot saalon tak intezaar kiya hai yeh baat kehna ka, ab jab keh diya hai toh zindagi bhar nibhaonga"
"Dekho...", she took a deep breath. "Yeh baat pehle bhi kahi thi aur ab bhi keh rahi Hoon, main... main tumse pyaar NAHI karti!!"
"Really Sumo?", Asked Shravan, peeping into her eyes. "Haan, woh...", Suman could only stutter, looking into those deep brown orbs.
She pushed him slightly and escaped from his clutches.
"Main bhi dehkta Hoon Ms. Suman, kab tak Mujhse bachogi... Challenge accepted!"
Shravan laughed at that moment, when it seemed that the world had ended for him.
"Tum janana chahti thi naa ki mere dil mein kya hai? Toh aaj sunn lo. I love you Sumo! My heart is filled with love only and only for you! Aaj se nahi, uss second se jabse Maine tumhe dekha tha."
"Shravan... ", at first her heart had leapt hearing that. Her man loved her back! That was the life for her! But then, that Ramnath deal flashed in front of her.
"Shravan tum mere liye Ek friend ho. Bass", her heart was crushed into a thousand pieces. And she left immediately for if she would stand there a second more, her patience would've given way to her feelings.
Those words made the world spin around him. That couldn't be! She was his, his Sumo. He was just a friend? No!
He recalled her words : "Shayad Maine tumhaare dil mein woh Jagah ab tak nahi banayi hai"
"I still trust you to love me. And I'll prove it."
Since then, he had told her these words a hundred times and she'd denied it every single time. But then, he was Shravan Malhotra, the one who never gave up. And once he'd decided that he will make her confess, he will have that for sure.
And Suman knew it wasn't easy. Denying his heart was getting more and more difficult because the feelings jumped up to the surface every time she saw him. The dam of patience and self control was getting weaker and weaker by every passing minute.
Grahshanti
It was time for Grahshanti meaning the Shanti of the various planets and our horoscopes. In Hindu Mythology, it was believed that our fate depended on the placements of different heavenly bodies and taking their permission before such an auspicious event like marriage was important for the successful future of this holy tie.
Preeti sat near the fire in a yellow ghagra teemed with a red choli. She was looking simple but beautiful. Mami and Mama sat beside her and soon the Havan began. The holy thread was to come from the groom's family and someone from the Malhotra's was much awaited to complete the proceedings.
Suman stood near the Mandap, tapping her feet impatiently. The Mahurath was slipping quickly and the thread had not yet come.
"Grahshanti ka Mahurath beeta jaa raha hai", said Panditji.
"Main dekhti Hoon", said Suman and was about to leave when she met Shravan outside.
"Accha hua tum aa gaye!", She said immediately without thinking.
"Accha?!", He said with a smirk.
"Hmm... umm.. Chalo ab shagun ka dhagaa lao", she asked
He removed a red and yellow thread wrapped around a coconut from the huge pocket of his Kurta.
"Lo"
Suman stepped ahead to take it but he swished it before she could grab it.
"Yeh kya mazaak hai! Dhagaa lao!", She shouted.
"Dum hai toh le lo", he winked.
"Yeh kya baat hui? Dekho Mahurath beeta jaa raha hai"
"Maine bhi toh tumharaa intezaar itne saalon tak kiya? Thoda patience tum bhi rakhna lo", he teased
"Yeh sahi nahi hai"
"Aur jo tum kar rahi Ho woh sahi hai?"
"Dhagaa lao"
"Le lo"
"Shravan woh main...", she looked down and said shyly. But the moment his attention got diverted to her face, she leapt and grabbed it.
"Ha! Dekha! Bade aaye naa dene waale", she stuck out her tongue.
"Badi samajhti hai khud ko, par hai Abhi bhi bacchi hi", he thought smiled fondly, looking at her excitement
"Tumhaari iss smile ke liye main baar baar Haar jaon tumse"
"Toh socha tumne... "
"Dekho Shravan. Main last baar keh rahi Hoon. Maine tumse nahi karti pyaar! Samajhe?! Mat karo mujhe pareshaan."
This time really he felt disappointed. A small doubt crept inside him. What if really?
"Theek hai, nahi karoonga"
Sumo was so heartbroken on hearing this. She'd expected him to smirk again and kept in pleading to her. But this time, he was dejected.
Before she could console him, he left without a word.
As he opened the car door, he looked at her for one last time and said : "Tumhaare bina nahi jee sakta main"
Her heart stopped. Time froze as she saw his car disappearing into the distance.
"Aree Suman!!!", Called Mami. She'd completely forgotten about the Dhagaa.
Baraat
The wedding procession was at their gate, finally! Time for Hast Milaap meaning the ultimate union of souls.
Preeti nervously came into the Mandap as Pushkar's wait was over after long. Suman was searching for him but couldn't see him. She was worried after the last sentence he'd spoken before the Grahshanti. Her heart and mind weren't interested in the events of the marriage.
She couldn't wait anymore now. So when Panditji called Mami for Kanyadaan, she quietly slipped out of the place.
She searched through the Rooms. She also searched the verandah, the open lawn and lastly the terrace. Her anxiety touched the sky when he was no where to be seen. What a fool you are! She thought.
She came down and sat on the bench, in the park. She was still keeping an eye for his 6'4" figure, but in vain.
She clutched her ghagra in tension when suddenly she felt someone was behind the pillar. Overwhelmed by curiosity, she went to see it.
She circled around it but found no one.
Suddenly, a tug swept past her and she was pulled forcefully and pinned against a wall.
"Ek ghante ke liye mujhe nahi dekha aur itni tension?"
Suman couldn't decide on, whether to be joyous on seeing him or to start her distance drama immediately.
"Jach rahi ho"
She blushed on that compliment.
"Kahan the tum?!"
"Ahem ahem! Toh kisiko meri fikar hai"
His smart look was getting irresistible to bear. He was looking so sexy in that cream Sherwani with a golden brooch. She didn't even mind marrying him instantly.
"Ab aao mere saath"
He took her hand in his and lead her to a small shack with a Havan Kind in the center.
"Maine socha, tum toh manane se rahi, iss janam mein. Aur phir meri umar bhi toh nikali jaa rahi hai. Yoon zindagi bhar kuwaanra toh nahi reh sakta naa"
Before she could open her mouth to oppose it, he said "Aaj kuch mat bolna"
Still clutching her hand, he started framing his promises and they took rounds
"I promise that I'll never leave you in times of need"
Suman recalled how he had stood beside her like a rock, when she was surrounded by difficulties.
"I promise that I'll never let any problem reach you Without crossing me"
She recalled how he'd taken all her problems on himself every time.
"I'll never let you down"
And she remembered how he'd saved her from death and also cured her.
"I'll love you till time allows me to"
Suman was completely overwhelmed by now. So much love, devotion and intensity! And what was she doing?! Breaking him again and again?!
Shravan stopped now. The four vows of the groom were over and it was her turn now. But he didn't have hopes.
He left her hand and turned to leave when she held his hand again. This time, she lead him to take the remaining vows.
"I'll never leave you till death"
Shravan was so happy! He kept in admiring her conviction. Indeed, she was different from Nirmala Ahuja. He knew she won't leave him till lifetime.
"I'll never break your heart"
Shravan recalled how she broke him every second till now, even in their childhood. But not anymore.
"I'll support you always, even if it hurts me"
The seven vows were over - the seven promises which bound two souls in a holy relation.
Shravan clutched her shoulders and leaned on her slightly. She closed her eyes as he moved forward and softly kissed her on the forehead and then on her cheeks.
"Thank you Sumo", he whispered
"Thank you for trusting me", she replied.
