Hello! Sorry for this overdue post! Hectic schedules and festival season is tough for late night writing! But here's an update! Hope y'all like it!
Also, what is with this horrid viral infections all over the place? And dengue! Machhars, you dont have to suck our blood to prove that you suck. We all know you do. -_-

And here's the update:
They had just eaten and sat on the swing on the porch, enjoying the night. The air was cool and breezy. They swung slightly, side by side, shoulders resting against each other, she hummed quietly and he listened. He had forgotten she used to do that. But now he remembered it used to be one of his favourite things. Suddenly she stopped singing so he looked at her. She looked back, perplexed.
Shravan: ruk kyun gayi? Gao na
Sumo: tum sun rahe the?
Shravan: haan! Ye wahi gana hai jo tum aur nanaji saath gaya karte the.
Sumo: gana nahi ghazal...
Shravan( thinking hard) : chupke chupke raat din...wahi wali na?
Sumo looks at him in surprise: haan...ghulam ali ki...ye actually ek urdu poem thi...tumhe kaunse gaane pasand hai?
Shravan: pata nahin...hindi gaane mujhe zyada pata nahi hai...London mei itna time hi nahi milta tha...kuch closed concerts attend kiye the...but nothing specific...chalo andar chalte hain...sardi badhrahi hai
They walk inside the house.
Sumo: kya yaar shravan...koi toh gana hoga! Itne saal mei ek bhi gana pasamd nahi aaya tumhe?!
Shravan: oh ek minute. Ek gana hai jo mai bohot suna karta tha...sunogi?
Sumo: sure!
He takes his phone out and searches for that one song on the internet.
The sound of the song fills the room as it starts, rhytmic drums and bass h
Guitars.
He looks at her as she arranges a few things in her cupboards and the song hits him.
"All i am is a man, i want the world in my hand,
i hate the beach, but i stand, in california with my toes in the sand,
Use the sleeves of my sweater

He sees her slowly bobbing her head and swaying herself slightly to the beat. He walks over to her and stands right behind her. She turns her head to see his palm outstretched and waiting for her as he looks at her eyebrows raised. She fills his palm with her's and they move to the centre of the room.
They entwine their hands and start moving their arms around lazily, not caring about the song.
"She knows what I think about

Nothing that I wouldn't wanna tell you about, no"
The song was building up.
They step far apart and come closer, bumping into each other, laughing and sway around. Taking steps back and forth. He knows the song too well and starts slowly singing it along. Then the chorus arrives and he pulls her into him suddenly.

Both your hands in the holes of my sweater"
Her breath hitches as he pulls her steadily into him and she grasps his shoulders to stay put. The sight of him singing along to this song so casually and carefree was a sight to behold. The song was amazing, no doubt but he made it better.

I don't mind if there's not much to say
Sometimes the silence guides our minds
So move to a place so far away
The goose bumps start to raise

They moved around goofily and clumsily dancing, pulling and pushing each other until it ended. He seemed to be enjoying the song more than he ever did before. Maybe it was the fact that he had subconciously thought of her evertime he had heard it.
Shravan sighs and looks at the girl in his arms, still swaying, looking at him tentatively.
He pulls her right cheek like a kids and boops her nose. He doesnt know what made him do that. So he quickly asks her a question.
Shravan: kaisa laga?
Sumo: bohot achha hai. Kya naam hai?
Shravan: Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood.
Sumo: hmmm tumhari choice kaafi achhi hai shravan malhotra!
Shravan: ofcourse! Is hi liye toh tum is waqt meri baahon mei ho aur mai tumhare room mei.
Sumo blushes at his statement.
Sumo: waise meri choice bhi theek thaak hai!
Shravan: haan...theek hi hai. Warna mujh jaise akdhu insaan se tum kabhi pyaar nahi karti!
Sumo: haan woh toh mai ne bachpan ki mohabbat ki thi na is hi liye!
Shravan's heart swells with love for her. He gives her a tight hug and kisses the top of her head. She was so small, pressed against him so he squished her even more by wrapping his arms more tightly against her.
"Ow ow wrong timing for a bear hug" she mutters against his chest in a muffled voice.
"Shravan chhorho mujhe" she says and he says "nahi!" And presses her tighter into him. "Arre please i have cramps and my front hurts you fool!" She cries in the muffled voice. He instantly opens his arms and lets her out. She folds her arms in front of her, massaging her sides. "Sorry...tum theek ho?" He asks worry etched in his face. "Haan...bas thakgayi hoon. I'm crashing now."
He climbs into bed with her and she refuses to let him near citing cramps and she wont find a proper position to sleep in comfortably. He tries to argue but defeatedly lies straight on the other side of her bed.
They lay in silence until after some time, he breaks it.
Shravan: sumo, tum aise hi every month ek hafta mujhe apne se door sulaogi?
Sumo: cramps last only 3 days.
Shravan: but 3 nights still seem long.
Sumo: greedy kyun ho rahe ho? Baaqi ke din toh hai na.
He is silent for some time.
Shravan: sumo?
Sumo: hmm?
Shravan: mujhe lagta hai mujhe aadat hogayi hai tumhare saath sone ki. I mean ek bed pe.
Sumo: mujhe bhi. I mean tumhare sath.
Shravan: kuch karna padhega.
Sumo: kya karoge?
Shravan: roz raat tumhare kamre ki khidhki se andar aajaunga.
Sumo: haan. Aur subah jab mamiji ya preeti mujhe uthaane aingi toh unne heart attack dedena.
Shravan: arre kapde pehne rahunga!
Sumo hits him with a cushion.
Sumo: tum pagal ho shravan.
Shravan: tumse kam.
And they drift off.
She wakes up next morning, head resting on his chest, rising and falling rhythmically. Their alarms go off, waking both of them up.
Shravan: milgayi comfortable position? Mere uppar?
Sumo: haan. Tum sahi the. Kuch karna padhega.
They get freshened one by one. He sits on the counter with the news paper in his hand as he sips on the coffee she made for them. She frets about the kitchen, gathering stuff to make breakfast.
"You know i could get used to this?" He quips.
Sumo: kya?
Shravan: ye hi. Saath mei coffee aur breakfast.
Sumo: oh. Kal se phir ghar ki coffee ke liye tayyar hojao. Aaj shaam sab aarahe hain wapas.
Shravan: toh mujhe konsa yahan aane ke liye bahane dhundne padhte hain?
Sumo: woh bhi hai.
Shravan: sumo?
Sumo: hmm?
His heartbeat quickens. He is sure he wants this. And there was never a better time or a better opportunity. This was it.
Shravan: shaadi karogi mujhse?
There is dead silence as she stops in her tracks. She doesnt even turn around to look at him. They've had this comversation before but there is a certain finality to it this time.
He gets off the counter and steps towards her. She turns around to see him looking at her intensely. Is that worry on his face? She gulps and looks at him dead in the eyes.
Sumo: this better not be a joke.
Silence again.
Shravan: it isnt. Sach mei pooch raha hoon!
Sumo is on the verge of hyperventilation. Why was she so nervous? She knew what she wanted to say.
Sumo: tum pagal ho shravan...
Shravan: mujhe laga jab humne itne saare future ki planning already karli hai toh tum bhi ye hi chahti hogi...
He knew she wanted it too but did he do this too soon?
Sumo laughed. She was tearing up.
The bell rings and they look at the door and then at each other. He leaves to check the door. She stops him. "Koi tumhe itni subah yahan dekhega toh bawaal hojayega." She says. And goes to open the door herself.
She unlocks it and swings it open only to be completely mortified by the woman in front of her. Nirmala aunty.
"Arre suman! Kaisi ho?" Nirmala asks a very shocked suman.
"Mai theek hoon...aap yahan?" She asks brokenly. She loved nirmala aunty to bits but Shravan was in the house and she didnt know how he would react. And right then was the time she found out.
"Kaun hai sumo?" He asks walking towards the door and atops in his tracks when his eyes fall on the visitor. He goes white like he's seen a ghost. Nirmala gasps and freezes in her spot.
Shravan could not believe his eyes. Was it really her? So many emotions welled up inside him. Yearning, anger, frustration.
Nirmala: shravan? She whispers. Eyes pooling with tears.
Sumo just stands there not knowing what to do as she looks back and forth between the mother and son.
Shravan: sumo. Ye aurat yahan kya kar rahi hai?
Sumo: shravan ye-
Shravan: mai janta hoon ye kaun hai. Mujhe ye batao ki ye yahan ab, itne saal baad bhi kya kar rahi hain?
Sumo looks at nirmala who replies: mai sheher mei thi toh milne chali aayi tiwari ji aur tum se...
Shravan goes back into the house and fetches his belongings and starts walking out of the house. Sumo follows him trying to stop him but he doesnt budge. He gets in his car and leaves. Sumo goes back into the house and sees a shaken nirmala on the couch. She offers her water.
Sumo: sorry aunty woh...
Nirmala: sorry mujhe bolna chaahiye. Mai aise hi bina bataye chali aayi...im sorry...kitna lamba hogaya hai na shravan?
Sumo smiles half heartedly. Her heart sunk thinking how nirmala's visit would affect her relationship with him.
Nirmala: woh mai tiwari ji se mil loon?
Sumo: naanu aur baaqi sab roh ghar par nahi hain...aaj shaam ko lautenge...
Nirmala: oh achha...phir shravan yahan itni subah?
Sumo's eyes widen at her question and a blush creeps up her entire face and she looks down trying to find words but Nirmala understands.
Nirmala: oh...
Sumo feels too embarassed to even look up.
Sumo: aunty woh...
Nirmala: its okay suman. Tumhe kuch explain karne ki zarurat nahi hai.
She looks down again.
Nirmala: mai jaanti hoon mujhe koi haqq nahi hai ye poochne ka...par kaisa hai woh? Khush hai?
Sumo doesnt say anything for a while
Nirmala: achha laga dekh kar ki tum dono ab tak saath ho.
Sumo smiles and looks down deep in thought. What must shravan be thinking right now? Nirmala looks at the distraught girl.
Nirmala: suman mai chalti hoon...shaam ko ya kal aajaungi milne.
Sumo nods and bid her bye.
She instantly rushes to her room, finds her phone and dials his number. He doesnt pick up. She dials again and again and again but in vain.
She walks into the mansion, mind reeling and heart sinking. She doesn't notice the women looking at her until one of them calls her and breaks her chain of thought.
Kamini: suman puttar!
Sumo suddenly stops in her tracks and sees Kamini chachi and vandy bhabhi seated on the sofa. She smiles a grimace at them and says her greetings. They call her to sit with them.
Kamini: kya hua puttar? Aisi safed kyun padhgayi ho? Koi tension hai?...aur ye tere gale par kya hua?
Sumo replies in negative and chided herself for fogetting a dupatta.
Kamini gets up to answer a call.
Vandy: haww suman tiwari naughty girl haan...oh please dont tell me woh hickeys nahi hai! Woh toh mummy ji thi toh mai ne unke saamne kuch nahi kaha! But tell me! Kaun hai woh jise tum itni zyada pasand aati ho?
Sumo blushes furiously in embarassment. : nahi vandy bhabhi aisa kuch nai hai...bas woh-
Vandy: tum bolti ho ya mai shravan se poochun? Usshe to pata hoga!
Sumo instantly says : nahi!
Kamini chachi hears this all and asks: kya pata hoga shravan ko?
Vandy: ye hi mummyji ki suman ki life mei-
Sumo: mujhe shravsn se kuch kaam hai mai abhi aati hoon!
And she flies up the stairs to his room.
She opens the door and slowly calls his name.
He is sitting at the edge of his bed and looks up when he hears her voice.
Shravan: yahan kya kar rahi ho?
Sumo: shravan meri baat suno...
Shravan: kya sunu sumo?
Sumo: mai janti hoon tum iss waat bohot gusse mei ho-
Shravan: oh tum janti ho! Toh ab kyun aayi ho?
Sumo toughens up.
Sumo: tumhare sawalo ka jawab dene.
Shravan: good. Answer me now. Nirmala Ahuja tiwari killa mei kya kar rahi thi?
Sumo: woh meri maa ki best friend thi aur naanu unhe apna maante hain.
Shravan: aur tum? Tum bhi unhe apna manti ho? Unho ne jo mere saath liya uske baad bhi?
Their voices were rising.
Sumo: shravan. Nirmala aunty meri maa ki ek akeli dost hai jinhe mei janti hoon. Unho ne jo tumhare saath kiya woh ghlata tha ya shayad unke paas unke reasons the. Par iska ye matlab nahi hai ki mai ane saare naate unse todhdungi! Woh chaahe kitni bhi door chalijaye, woh hai tumhari ma bhi hai.
Shravan: reasons? Aur meri maa? Mera us aurat se koi lena dena nahi hai! Mere sab rishte un se us hi din khatam hogaye the jab woh mujhe chorh kar chalegayi thi!
Sumo: chorhkar to tum bhi mujhe chalegaye the na shravan?! Toh kya mujhe tumse saare rishte todhdene chahiye the?
Dead silence.
Shravan: tum mujhe unse compare bhi kyun kar rahi ho? Itni gira hua nahi hoon mai!
Sumo: please shravan! Tumhe unhe apna nahi maanna toh mat maano! Mere liye woh important hai.
Shravan chuckles sarcastically: Nice. Ek aur baar mujhe andhere mei chorhdiya. And i thought i you were off your high horse. Ghalat tha mai. Phir se.
Sumo: iska kya matlab hua? Andhere mei mai tumhe nai dhakelrahi sharavan tum khud apne aap jaa rahe ho!
Shravan: oh shut up! Nahi sunna mujhe ye emotional drama!
Sumo: this conversation does not even make sense anymore. Mai yahan tumhe ye batane aayi thi ke nirmala aunty se mai touch mei hoon toh kyun. Par tum is waqt kuch samajhne ke mental state mei nahi ho.
Shravan: mujhe koi faraq nahi padhta tum us aurat ke saath jo bhi karo. Par woh bhi tumhe chorhke chalijayegi, jaise mujhe chorhkar gayi thi aur tumhare parents tumhe chorhgaye the and then, when you have nowhere to go, dont come back running to me like a little bi- !
But the damage was done. He had taken it too far and he knew it. She stood wide eyed and flabbergasted at his words. Like a wind had knocked her out of her senses.
He felt a weight drop in him as his words hit himself. In that moment, he there was nothing more he regretted in the world.
Sumo ( trying to control sobs): ruk kyun gaye? Aur bolo na...
He looks down and says: sumo i'm--
But she had grabbed her bag and ran out the room, sobbing.
She flew out of his room not noticing a figure nearby. Her eyes were streaming tears and she cold barely see anything. Luckily she had her way to and fro him room memorized. Her head spun as she sat in her car and broke into hysterical sobs. How could he?
