Chapter 5

At 11 AM, PCT

Suman and the employess of PCT were busy preparing the meals that had to be sent out in a few hours. But her mind wandered on the conversation she had with Shravan last night. She couldn't help but think about him. "Did he understand what I meant? Did he confront his father?" she thought. Her train of thoughts were broken by someone calling out to her. It was Preeta. She told her that someone was waiting for her at the doorstep. Hearing this she went to the entrance of PCT. She was irritated beyond measure to see Khosla waiting for her.

"Good morning Suman puttar! How are you? All is going well, isn't it?" he said. She was irritated to see him and her temper began to rise. "What the hell are you doing her? Hadn't I made it clear to you last time that you're not welcome here? Do you have a problem in comprehending what I told you" she asked him angrily.

"Didn't I tell you that I am out of prison and you will be seeing a lot more of me. Well here is the thing, Devinder Khosla is back and I have a proposal for you. I want to buy the land on which your PCT stands. And for that I am willing to pay you a good amount, that is Rs 50 Lakh. Take your time and think about it. Call me with your decision and let me know. I am sure it'll be an affirmative but still I am giving you time to tell me the same." he said grinning from ear to ear.

All this while that Suman was listening to him, her temper gradually rose. She couldn't digest the audacity of the man to tell her such a thing. Her decision was clear and she told him the same, "I am not selling PCT. Neither to you nor to anyone else. Understood? Now, leave."

"Take your time Suman. I'll come back soon." Saying this, Khosla left. By now Suman was disgusted with herself for having entertained the conversation.

On the other end of the spectrum, Shravan was still shut in his room. He had realized the dirty game his father had played with him. To top it all, Kamini was in the know how of the truth. He had already had enough. It was time to set things right. He immediately got up, grabbed his car keys and headed out. A distraught Pushkar standing at the door called out to him. Shravan signaled him to come along. Together they were headed to Tiwari Qilla.

He walked in through the front door with all the bravado only to be brought to a halt by the sight of his mother in the hallway with the Tiwaris'. She was shocked as well as surprised to see him after all that had transpired. He walked to her and asked to speak to her in private. She agreed and they went to Suman's room where Nirmala was put up.

During the course of the next hour, the mother and son reunited. They had cleared the misunderstanding between them. Shravan apologized to her for all that he said and felt about her. She also apologized to him for not acting wisely. They discussed their lives. She told him everything about her life in Mumbai, her longing to see him, her silent prayers for him to succeed and the small hope to see him. He in turn told her about his life in London, his studies, his firm, his longing for her, the dilemma he was in, her daal, their memories together. They tried to fill the gap of 10 years in an hour but both of them knew that it will take time.

Nirmala was happy beyond words. She had never thought the she'll live to see this day. On the other hand, Shravan was at peace. All his suffering and agony had come to an end. They both came out of the room happy and smiling. Pushkar came up to her and said, "Badi maa, I don't think you know but..." Nirmala cut him off mid sentence, "I know who you are Pushkar. You were born right in front of me. You were such a cute child. You've grown up into such a gentleman. Thank you for taking care of Shravan", teary eyed he took her blessings. Together the Tiwaris' along with Nirmala, Shravan and Pushkar sat down for a meal. All was fine, well almost.

It was time for them to leave. Shravan asked Nirmala to come with him but she refused. "I so happy that we have sorted things out and are beginning our lives from scratch but I am not going the place where Ram lives. I hope you understand. I am sorry, son" said Nirmala.

"Don't be sorry, mom. I understand. We'll work something out, pakka" he said, smiling. Both, Pushkar and Nirmala were relieved to see Shravan happy and calm. Pushkar smiled at Nirmala and excused himself and headed to car, knowing what was to come. Before parting, Nirmala told him one last thing, "Shravan, there is one last thing you have to do." "Sumo", he said almost instantly. She nodded. He took her blessings and left with a smile on his face.

That night, when Suman returned, she was filled in by Preeti about all that happened. She even spoke to Pushkar and was filled in with the happenings with greater detail. Her happiness knew no bounds. She had finally succeeded in uniting Nirmala and Shravan, ending their anguish for one another. The sense of victory within her made her happy. She even did a small victory dance. She wanted to talk to Nirmala but had to wait till next day morning as she had accompanied Maamiji and Mousi to a jagrata. That night she went to bed happily.
