Chick, u sweetie...we have had this thing going from IPK days...π I love u for this...πRekh,U do remember! I can be as stubborn as our dear Shravan. ππ€Hehehe U r more stubborn than Shravan...that I can assure u
I am sure there must be a new thread out by now, but I'll comment here anyway for continuity. π³After having read your and Indrani's replies:I totally agree on the message being conveyed here- it is very subtle, with no woman glorification thankfully! πAs for Suman already knowing about Shravan's feelings- 'I have moved on' nullifies that letter in my eyes...and Suman gave up twice. The first time, Pushkar quoted Ramnath's eg. and that raised her hopes. She gave up again when he clarified what exactly he thought of women- It is only because she was melted by the child in him yearning for his mom, that she decided to reconsider...I am not saying she was going to cut off all ties with him, but the child in him tugged at her heart when she had to decide between her pyar and her atmasamman...here, she chose that little lost boy. (β€οΈ)What proof or guarantee does Sumo have that he still loves her? She sees it in his actions, as we do...there is still nothing definite about it...Am I understanding you correctly here, Chick? Why is the above question even relevant in a true blue love story? You love...because well you love... Btw, when is a confession due for a love story? Does it follow any rules? I guess, "who first" came about only as a matter of who is more aware of their feelings...not who is more aware of the other person's feelings.. The mask is up for both people really, more or less...Its only when they will lower guard that they will be able to confess without worrying about the outcome of their confession. Heart is the first casualty in love. U can't protect the heart when in love. So, it is futile...be it Sumo or Shravan...In a love story, someone will gather more courage than the other...
And it is not that Sumo wants Shravan to confess to her...She wants him to CONFESS TO HIS SELF...She is not expecting an ILU- but an 'I love her'...the day he gets that realisation, Sumo might confess too...Though the way things are going, with Sumo's multiple failed attempts to make Shravan realise what is in his heart, I feel Shravan will simply have to connect the dots finally...once he does that, I guess nothing would stop him...Will also depend on how far he/ circumstances might have pushed Suman away, by then.I am not anti- Shravan at all. π³ I love the friend and lover in him...and the child...And when I talk about respecting her...he loves her as a 'friend', no doubt...but in his mind she is still an aurat- no matter how many times he apologised for that dialogue, the fact is, he did think of her like that for a second...Even if she can forget it like that in a second. And respecting her as a working woman...all I am saying is, he needs to see her for who she is and really appreciate her work, at least in his mind...Has he ever done that, other than loving the karela and feeling proud of her at the preeti-bhoj (a family function where she fulfilled her designated role as a woman). If he really respected her, he wouldn't have come out with that male chef dialogue...so in his eyes, only a male chef could have made that dal...no woman...not Suman or any other woman...I am hoping to see a change in that attitude.π³Chick, you will agree poor attitudes to the female population is a larger societal issue. There is no justifiable cause for a poor attitude to women/misogyny. There is no condoning Shravan's attitudes to women..mommy issue or no mommy issue. Knowing that a person has a so called "issue" only means he receives greater empathy to get clinical support or certainly help from trustworthy sources who can help him with his trust deficit issues. Shravan would have been better off not spewing sexist remarks...Shravan could have been shown flawed even without all that silly male talk on food...I guess writers always struggle to highlight real personality issues becos that calls for so much research so its becomes a lot easy to bracket this under MCP tag and be done with it. A huge disservice to the Oxford education ππ
Other than that, he loves her...he cares for her..she still has the power to hurt him...I love all that about him and accept him for the lovable bachha he is! ππ
