A young boy of say about 16 years of age ... battling the woes of puberty & adolescence ... he falls in love with a BEST FRIEND ...& wham bam .. he looses both .. Friendship & love ... in what he feels was sheer DISINTEREST ... in the GIRL... ...

AT the same time ... the one anchor in a persons life .. their Mother ... the one who is supposed to offer u UNCONDITIONAL LOVE ... walks out of this commitment ... she walks out on LOVE .. cause there were CONDITIONS to it ... this young boy first fights with his father .. saying .. SHE CANNOT HAVE GONE AWAY ... U SURELY MUST'VE DONE SOMETHING TO SEND HER AWAY ... ( he was privy to their fights) ... & then he is shown a visual of his mom ... someone other than him WAS CONSOLING HER ...

Lets pause here a bit ... lets go back to the Urvashi episode ... at that time he had said i want someone who would stand by me always .. thru thick & thin ... he looked at Sumo ... but subliminally he was looking at his mom ... someone who walked out when the going got tough ..

This is a brilliant connect Red👏... I had literally forgotten the Urvashi saga and the way he looks at Sumo. Yes, you are right that Sumo, his mom and love are all connected in his mind and in his heart. And that look of his was not only posing questions to Sumo but to the unseen and yet always present figure of his mother.

@bold... conditions which Ramnath placed, conditions which Nirmala refused herself to bind herself by and conditions which Shravan allows himself to be coloured himself in... the colour of black, the colour of rejection, the conditions of negativity.

This is a wonderful line Red... beautiful❤️ Awesome...

Now here's thot no. 1 for Shravan .. his mother actually stuck it out with Ramnath till the going was tough she quit on him only when things got better for him ...

Here's thot no. 2 for Shravan ... in the fight between his parents ... his father was perfectly alright with his wife working when things weren't going well for him ... but he refused to let her work once things were alright with him ... noble thot ... but then why accuse ur wife of adultery ??? was adultery okay while he had a need ?????

These two thoughts would go a long way in solving this problem... but, Shravan has not been able to decode this fact owing to his resentment, anger and disillusionment with the notion of love. Agree completely...

These are the 2 thots that need to be cleared in SHravan's mind before he can even begin to contemplate a mothers love ...

The other big obstacle is abandonment ... now go back to the dialog ... he tells SUMO ... the girl i loved was not INTERESTED IN ME ...

Cut to .. his mother .. had an issue with his father ( he understood that - which shows maturity of thot) ... but according to him there was no issue with him ... her not running amok to him when he is sick ... all amount to SHE IS NOT INTERESTED

Yes, yesterday in one of the post I had mentioned that he was willing to make concession to both his parents. He did show a great maturity even in times of crisis.. when he did ask his father that you must have quarreled that's why she must have left. But, yes.. her leaving and coupled with the fact that she left him, his family for someone else (his belief)... made him align to the same notion as he applied to Sumo (She was not interested in me)... Lovely connect Red.

OKAY Enuf about recreating the past ... now for why i did it ...

This is a love story .. do not doubt that at all ...

This story is from Suman Tiwari's pov .. do not doubt that as well ...

This story ... The story of SHRAVAN MALHOTRA ... revolves around SUMAN TIWARI ... hence she is the single middle point in all things connected to him ... all the major things that happen to SHRAVAN ... IS ABOUT SUMAN ... even his OXFORD degree is about Sumo ... had she not ragged him that day at school this young boy would have stayed back ...

Yes, the first promo did make it clear that it would be Sumo's point of view. But the files falling all over and around the figure of Shravan who lingers at the background did explicate the fact that though all the events which shall eventually take place will be related to Sumo.. the responses to it (how, when, where, what) shall be undertaken by Shravan. That is a given😆

Hence what u see today is SUMO .. the link between ... SHRAVAN & his mom ...

Cos she was in the middle of it when the 2 parted as well ... she has to be in the middle of it when they finally meet as well ...

The story of the dal ...

Now before i go into the flavor of the dal ... do u see one big difference in SHRAVAN ... ever since the memory of his mother has been recreated for him ... the boy has started becoming distant with SUMAN ... the guy who could leave everything ... his career .. for this girl suddenly distances himself from her ...

The biggest grouse of us forum members... 😆

Now sit back & think why ... is this a jerk in direction .. or has the script writer suddenly gone berserk ... nope ... he has recreated the PAST ... Shravan apologized to his friend for saying rude things to her ... but did he apologize to the woman he loved/loves ... NOPE ...

The moment the mention of his mother cropped back into his subconscious .. he was reminded of treachery ... & he was reminded of that - LOVE DOES NOT LAST ... MARRIAGE DOES NOT LAST ... = Shravan the KID BEING DEVASTATED ...

Agree completely

So he cloaks himself in his armor .. like the last time around he puts a HUGE DISTANCE FROM HIS LOVE ... SUMAN .. last time it was physical distance ... this time around he needs her as a friend & so does she ( their convo in her moms house) so its EMOTIONAL DISTANCE ...

But the one glimpse u get of the real Shravan is when she calls him & tells him about her upcoming marriage ... he pauses .. his heart broken once more ... ( yea love did not have lasting power ... & she was still DISINTERESTED in him) he shouts at her ... & then what we did not see was SHRAVAN introspection ... but by the time he meets her ... he has introspected .. he was very far from the guy who shouted at her & wanted to meet her ... he was cool suave London lawyer extraordinaire ... the mask was back in place .. or rather the ARMOR OF SELF PROTECTION WAS BACK IN PLACE ...

Yes, the mask was clearly on.. the time he answered Sumo's call and the intervening time before he met Sumo at her home... is not shown. But, it was clearly understood

The confused viewer is wondering .. how does this guy smile thru it all ... whenever he talks about her marriage how is he so casual .. coz like Sumo we all to have to be made to believe he has moved on ... but all he has done has put on an armor of self protection ... & the only glimpse we as a viewer get into Shravan's mind space is .. he is ruder .. shorter in fuse ... & emotionally distancing himself away from Sumo ...

Sit back & think about all this ... probably watch some of the epis in fast forward again .. maybe this link will shine thru ... coz the question which plagues everyones mind is ... where is the Shravan who came on to Sumo in her kitchen .. who was busy flirting with her ... ??? i hope this answers ur question ...

Does.. but, you know for us viewers.. the mask (of Shravan) itself vanished to reveal only a bowl of daal. I know its our fault as viewers for failing to see the connect but.. the metaphor of daal became it self the main text. It was only supposed to be a signpost😉

Now why the dal ... For Shravan... his only memory of his mother are BAD .. he has obliterated all the GOOD MEMORIES from his mind ... he has obliterated the reasons why he LOVED HIS MOTHER from his mind..

Now link this to SUMO ... he has obliterated all the reasons he had fallen in love ... he has more or less wiped softer memories (except the jewelry one) from his mind (he remembers the playful ones) ... he has blanked out his mind ...

Yes.. no two doubts on this... he has refused to acknowledge those feelings.

Now in his life an ECHO OF HIS PAST .. has come to whisper .. in the form of a DAL .. he knows what it is ... he knows who used to make it for him as well ... his mind refuses to acknowledge this ... but the dil (heart) ... wants more ( yeh dil maange more) ... he keeps yearning for it ... willing to go to any length to keep this ECHO ALIVE ... keep this one memory flirting with him ... basically ... UNABLE TO WALK AWAY ...

Now link this on your own with SUMO & HIM ... ( not gonna help u here😉) & come back & lets discuss ... i am sure the moment u make the connect ... ur floored & in love with ur show once again

I wrote in one of my earlier posts... that Shravan's letter was a whisper captured in print... love the fact that you have used it to connect it with this Echo😳..

I have often written here ... EDKV is all about subtle nuances ... subliminal thots ... & this whole track till now is all about subtle nuances ...

Now heres one last sublime thot ... go see the shot when Sumo tells Shravan about her marriage on the phone & his very long pregnant pause ... & then watch the scene when he eats the dal for the first time ... look at him .. its the same boy of 16 odd years ... yearning to break through & HOLD BACK TIME ...

ya... this I managed to understand.. thankfully 😆

Thats the link between the dal & the leads love story ... the way this story is written is ... all characters will act only as cupids to the lead .. in each track u will see their relationship go thru a metamorphosis ... Urvashi, Khosla, Mother ... & the next one as well ...

Sit back enjoy the ride ... PYAAR TO HONA HI HAI ... but the fun in a love story is the RIDE ... so lets enjoy that ...
