Perhaps one of the most talked about notions today is Sharavan's notion of "moving on". Poor Sumo. it's left her utterly heartbroken. 😆
My two cents - The notion of "moving on" is something Shravan has being carrying with himself since day 1 I think. From the time he left for London, to when he came back and till now when he was about to leave again; it's played a rather important part in being able to facade the hurt and anguish he carries within himself.
"Moving on" as a notion played just as of an important role 10 years ago in Shravan's life as it does now. At the time, it allowed him to move on from the loss of his mother. It allowed him to move on from the heartbreak he received upon realising that his love for Sumo was only one-sided, and it also allowed him to move on from the hurt and disappointment he received from her behalf as a friend. He embarked on a physical journey..."moving away" from all the haunting memories of his vulnerable childhood. The notion of moving on was physical as well as emotional 10 years ago since it took him away to an astranged city, away from all the painful memories.
Then when he arrived in India, he was still carrying the baggage of "moving on" with him. He used it to mask his hurt from the wounds he had gained as a school kid. He presented himself as someone ignorant, blunt and rude to convince Suman in specific that he had moved on from being the innocent, emotional and sentimental Shravan he used to be. Once again he used "moving on" as a weapon to make her believe that her existence was of the least importance to him.
And even now as we reflect upon some of the more recent episodes where Sumo has found his childhood letter and has been insisting him to confess her love to the girl of his hamesha, he has been using the notion of "moving on" to seal the corner of the heart which holds all the secrets of his childhood crush. He's a lawyer after all, knows well how to play with words.
Sumo seems to believe that his reference to "moving on" means he no longer loves her like old times. Whereas the truth is that he uses that term to hide those feelings so no one gets a chance to ever mock them or make fun of them like kids back at school used to tease the younger Shravan. He has learned well. How to safeguard his memories and love safe in his heart. His love will always stay with him...hamesha. But the fact that he is so unaware of Sumo's growing feelings for him, makes him want to keep those special feelings only to himself.
He's moved on in the sense that he has learned to keep his love alive in his heart, without any resentment of why he couldn't attain Suman's love. This idea of "moving on" for him signifies the ability to continue loving her, but secretly, and continue living their content lives as friends. Just friends. Just the way she would've preferred 10 years ago.
This was so random, i apologise.
