Am very sorry if you find this lame and boring... But I couldn't think better than this. I sort of got stuck up in my own story and hence all the time I took to pen it. It's a bit long, so please try to bear with it
Hope I entertained you enough through this Three Shot. Hope to see you soon now, maybe with a new story or an update!
He was standing at the window, seeing her trudging shadow fade away. The Moon seemed a little less bright today. A cold wild swept past him. Suddenly, he tapped his feet and smashed his fist on the window sill. He had got a brilliant idea!
He folded his fingers and put them in his mouth to produce a low, hooting Cuckoo Sound. He did it again and again, till the moving figure stopped. On the other hand, Sumo got her senses alert. Her dull face beamed as she recognised that sound. It wasn't any random bird out in the open, why, it was Shravan!
Flashback
"Sumo", called out an excited Shravan as he raced into her room. "Sumo!!!"
"Kya hai, bolo naa!", Said Suman, getting irritated.
"Sumo, aaj Maine Ek movie Dekhi, James Bond ki! Usmein, Hero and uske best friend Ek signal use karte hain, secretly communicate karne ke liye. So interesting naa?"
"Hmm, toh aaj kal Tu movies bhi dekh leta hai", teased Suman.
"Sumo!! I'm serious!! Toh Kyun naa hum dono bhi share karein?"
"Kya??"
"Ek secret signal", he gasped softly, in secret. "Aur Humaare secret signal hai yeh..."
He made a low, hooting Cuckoo sound. He repeated it twice, thrice until Sumo had got in straight down her head.
"Jab bhi hum communicate naa kar sakein aur tumhe yeh suniye de, turant Uncle Tommy ki Chai Tapri par pahunche jaana, ok?"
"Hahahabwahaha...!!!", Shrieked Sumo. "Dekh, yeh sab khaali TV aur Movies mein hota hai, real life mein nahi."
"Theek hai phir, main jaa raha Hoon. Par yaad rakhna, yeh signal tumhe hi kaam aayega"
Flashback ends
Sumo yet another time mentally slapped herself. Shravan, yet another time, was proved right. She understood that he couldn't talk to her, hence made that sound. So, she immediately left for Uncle Tommy's Place.
Shravan, on the other hand, paced his room up and down. All his thoughts were going haywire. Had he done the right thing to send her, at midnight, to a tea stall? He recalled the Goon incident were she was saved just in time. And this time, he was sure Preeta won't be there to save her, nor will he coz he was stuck in his own house, in his own father's words.
"Shitt", he exclaimed. This was one terribly wrong move taken! He and his stupid Bond Ideas. Sumo was right, it didn't work in real life! He drank water to calm himself, but in vain.
Ramnath too was restless in his room. Kamini 's words were ringing in his ears. He couldn't believe Shravan could have done that, for Sumo. He thought of Tiwariji, and then Sumo. How respectable these people were. And Kamini? Of course he knew how she reacted all the time and over thought of things. He knew she didn't like Sumo. So... So... Had she made it up?
The phone rang to interrupt his thoughts:
It was Tiwariji.
"Hello, Ramnath? Janam din ki bohot badhaiyan!"
It was his birthday! And it had slipped out of his mind. But not his. This overwhelmed him. He seemed to lose his voice.
"Dhanyavad Tiwariji", he managed to stutter.
So wrong he was to think like that, for him and for Sumo!
After a short chat, he rushed straight to Shravan's room.
"I am sorry beta", he apologised, looking down. He felt that he couldn't look up in his eyes.
"Pata nahi ab tak kya Soch raha tha, am extremely sorry! Jao beta aur dhoondho Sumo ko. Baat kar lo apni best friend se"
Shravan felt as if a huge load had come off his shoulders. He felt so light, he thought that he could fly to Sumo.
Grasping his car keys, he ran towards the car and zoomed towards Uncle Tommy's Shop. He tried her cell but it was unavailable. Never in his life had he felt so stupid. What if something happens to her? He wouldn't forgive himself his whole life! His hands trembled and sweat appeared on his forehead. But the worst was yet to come.
As he reached the Tea Stall, he found no one. It was pitch dark over there. A few wooden sticks were strewn on the ground. His imagination started running wild. What if a Gang had come over and taken her? What if...
He kneeled on the ground. His knees felt weak. It was all his fault. He had almost lost his Sumo, yes, she was HIS. No one could deny that. He loved her, had been loving her ever since he first met her. Even if that was Ten years back. And he didn't have the cheek to say it even once.
He had left her then, and even now. He had left her to her own. What a foolish guy he was! He cursed himself again and again. Tears flowing down his eyes.
After five minutes, he heard a soft pant behind him. Someone was taking deep breaths. A hand came and rested on his shoulder, as she leaned over him.
"Woh, woh ... Ek minute, Tum ro rahe ho?", She said.
Shravan ,for a second, felt that he was dreaming voices. Was she here? For real?
He turned around and saw her face, red with panting and puffing. Looked like she had ran down all the way here.
He quickly got up, as he felt a new gush of energy.
"Woh woh, am sorry...", started Sumo.
"Coz you are late", completed Shravan.
Sumo nodded in foolishness.
Why, he should've thought of it! She was late, yipeee, she was late!
He was so happy that she was late , for good, this time.
"Shravan... I wanted to tell you that------"
"Wait, let me first, please!"
Sumo nodded.
Shravan took a deep breath. He was going to say it now. Didn't know that this was right or wrong but he had to say it! Had to tell her that they were much more than "Just friends"
"Doobta Hua Sooraj, Lehrata Hua Samundar Ho...
Geeli Geeli Ret Par, Bass Main Aur Tum Ho...
Jaane Kyun Tumhaari Hasee Par Dil Bekaraar Hota Hai
Jaane Kyun Tumhe Dekhkar, Ek Naya Pyaar Hota Hai"
Sumo was all teary by now. Flashes of that letter came flooding back.
The "Is Is Love" line that was troubling her had vanished. It definitely was Love! Pure love, kindled over ten years of togetherness, pain and separation.
"I love you Shravan!! And I have no shame in accepting it. I have loved you ever since but only was too childish to know of it. But now I know, I love you, now and for ever!"
She tugged to his chest and wrapped her arms. She didn't care that her family won't accept her. Or she won't have a roof over her. As long as she had Shravan, it didn't matter.
But Shravan's silence was terrifying. He hadn't spoken a word. She looked up at him and saw those deep brown orbs full of love.
"I love you too Sumo"
Truly, love didn't need words. It was beyond relations. It didn't need justification coz love in itself was a deep Adobe.
