Hmm.. so must of us, I presume, are confused. Interestingly, none of us now seem to be confused about Sumo's feelings for Shravan, is it? 😉
But, apparently, Shravan seems to be another ball game😆
Why did he friendzone her? Yet why is he flirting with her?
Playing mind games? Giving it back? Or making her to confess?
The answer is not simple... but it is none of the above.
Let me explain by recounting few past incidents again.
Shravan Malhotra who loved her and yet was not able to cast aside his feelings of hurt, disappointment, rejection and rage that he felt for Sumo got the first shock of his life when he was pushed by her and so hard that he even cut his hand. It was not only Sumo's anger and frustration that reached him but also, a young friend's pain, her disillusionment that he wasn't her friend anymore. Shravan was doing the right thing he believed .. saving her from the clutches of people like Verma and also, at the same time, giving her the address of a lawyer who would have helped her.
Help?
Did she merely need a lawyer or she required a friend one who would have understood the story of a child's identity as merged with that of a mother long dead.
Shravan understood and he stayed back adding his famous line .. "mera dimaag thoda kharaab hai"
Cut to the next incident, Shravan solved her case by paying off Khosla with 6 crores. House saved and Sumo ought to be satisfied (happy.. in fact) as he believed she would be.. in spite of him not wanting to tell that he had paid off the swindler.
But, she wasn't happy, neither satisfied.
She felt let down.. in tremendous pain that the person whom she had expected would have understood what winning meant in the first place.. took the easiest way out. He failed her... badly.
He realized that Sumo's characterization of victory went beyond the usual connotations.. it meant being aware of the bareeqian of right and wrong.
Legally he might have won but ethically and as a friend he had lost the battle.. badly. He rectified his mistake like nothing else. He emerged as a winner... a hero in the true sense. Understood a daughter's fight to redeem her mother's name.. understood that the house was also a home.
Cut to the next incident, Shravan Malhotra articulating two thoughts related to each other in complex ways.. "sabse Khoobsurat ehsas" and that he has been waiting for her always (unstated, he shall always wait for her).
Primarily, the focus of this scene was not only to read, understand and comprehend Shravan's friendship as the beginning and end of love but more so, this was needed to frame Sumo's increasing feelings of passion in a different way. Sumo's mind had been filled with Preetha's ideas of Kiss.. and blah. She fell for it (it didn't help matters that Shravan is a charming man😉). She expected a kiss also, a love confession... probably expecting marriage. But... isn't she reading Shravan superficially? And supposedly they do get married in this scenario.. will Suman be really happy?
She who valued, laid such a great esteem on both intentions and results.. would she be happy that she only fell in love with a man without understanding his journey, without understanding where he came from.
Shravan's whole vocation in life has been to love Sumo (in different contexts the hues might have changed.. yet it has always remained love) and here, was Sumo who had merely fallen in love with the idea of love. Looking at it as a game...
I had said earlier in one of my posts that Shravan will never go wrong in his estimation of Sumo (after the 6 crores incident) and this friendship is part of that narrative of Sumo he has understood. Sumo the girl who was loud, bullish, was also a girl whose understanding of what constitutes real victory, what constitutes Truth is way beyond other mortal beings.
But, here was a girl who was failing to realize herself and her love for him. Did Sumo know why she loved him? Was she only happy that Shravan Malhotra, the top-notch Oxford lawyer loved to be in her company?
Shravan had learnt once through her about putting a smile on a girl's face and it is Sumo's turn to realize that only retracing, going back in time to write the narrative of friendship with Shravan will she ever find love. Shravan's is not a teacher or an educator but he shall be there as a friend and probably when she had again re-read, re-written the friendship narrative will she be able to refashion the narrative of love.
What if she doesn't read it exactly in the same way? Well, then it wasn't only love.. it was a beautiful companionship which should be or will be buried in the sands of time.
What about Shravan? He shall accompany her, never raising her hopes and yet not belittling them, stand by her and one day, if she realizes that the narrative of friendship is never or was never different from that of love she will find Shravan waiting to pull her into his arms.
She will realize that intention is as important as the results, as she herself had said it so once and shall reiterate again.
This is merely my perspective I am sure yours might be different. But, then that's the beauty of this show.
Is Shravan right in the way he is dealing with Sumo? Again, the answer is not easy but then love itself is not easy.
CVs also might have planned differently
Yet I do believe that if a game is afoot.. it is like a Rubik Cube, not all the moves shall lead to the desired end.. one will commit mistakes and then rise. Likewise, Sumo/Shravan will rise and so shall their love. It is not only Sumo's learning of Rubik cube that we shall see but even Shravan will in this game of rubik cube make mistakes (not wrong but not required probably) but, the beauty of this game of rubik cube called love is that both of them shall travel together holding hands, nay, holding hands of the other without realizing it as not one's own.
Sorry for the long post. Had to get it out of the system. 😆
Please do offer your thoughts. Will be waiting for your responses.😳
