For me, of late it is Shravan who is making more sense (since the time they visited Sumo's paternal home)😃
Pushkar's reading of her desperation does fluctuate from that of plain excitement in meeting a long lost friend and as something more than friend. Even when he agreed to a bet with Preeti, he is shown as doing some mental mathematics... he is not completely sure.
For me the fight was insignificant, she really did feel sorry however she might have penned down the apology note. All of a sudden you cannot verbalize those years of loneliness, the felt loss in words... her very silence and that small smiley was enough for me and also, the way she kept that apology note in that book (last page and all).. allowing Shravan to reflect that they were still standing on the same page... she had not moved on. It was again a sixteen years girl's heartfelt sorry.
FB, is however, something which both were doing.. they were following each others movements and yet.. I would still label these actions as merely friendship. If love it is to be understood (which it was the way she treasured his pictures and other stuff buying it from the raddiwala and Shravan also holding on to other relics from the past).. yet another picture does arise. Shravan did not need to follow her (fb movements) considering that he felt so bitter towards her.. Sumo, on the other hand, was never bitter in her feelings towards him, so her following her friend was like keeping tabs on him so that the day he arrives in India she will be able to make up to him.
She felt she did a mistake and knew she can make up to him as countless times she had done before. The eagerness and the excitement she felt for her friend had a history which yet could not be labelled as love.
Shravan, it is true that he doesnt want to complicate matters.. his child-like enthusiasm does allude towards this. Yet, he is the same man who could not spell out to Sumo why he did hit out at Verma.. a friend would have definitely revealed this fact to Sumo, a lover might not. In fact, even when he announced his engagement to Urvashi, his eyes were probing her and the line "musibat ke waqt apne sath chodd jaate hain" was a clear reference towards his relationship with Sumo. He had already exacted his pound of flesh by this time and yet he was not happy, he wanted more. We know he didnt want revenge anymore.. then what was that unsaid narrative?
I do think he knows where he stands.. yet he is stopping himself... because he is unsure of Sumo's feelings as he believes that this time around she should come around to reveal her feelings. Or, is he plain scared that this time he would lose it all? He has not read the narrative holistically looking at the smaller picture.. wonder what would happen when he realizes that these small pleasures he has again found in her company shall have to be left behind for ever. Will he play it squarely...or only wait for Sumo? Does love need to be spelled out? Does he need to be secure first that she loves him and then make a move? Can he again listen to his small sixteen year old teenager's voice and go ahead and claim her hand without thinking of the consequences? The way he went ahead and held her's and Nanu's hand during that famous court scene.
Yet, the fact remains that even ten years before his revelation was unknown to Sumo so why does he feel the need that only Sumo should explain. Ten years is a long time.. recently, he also exacted revenge in the worst possible way.. why would Sumo knowing how he felt for her in these ten years go and reveal everything? Yes, he helped and his actions did speak louder than earlier.. but then she might read it as him being a person of integrity and also, that of a dear friend.
My only point is suppose all of Preetha's tricks are successful will they mean she is in love or Shravan is in love with her? Lets take it that she decodes his actions as Shravan being in love with her.. will that make her fall in love with him or she will just read it as both being in love. Whether Shravan loves or not, she should take time to contemplate whether she is in love with him. And if she has already fallen in love with him, I am not very sure this has been executed very well in the show. Her excitement, her desperation have been too few.. and her hesitancy, her blabber might also stem from the fact, that now there is a decided disparity between the two. He is far more assured and confident and she doesnt know at times how to deal with these changes.
Definitely yes, more so when Shravan has time and again assured that he has changed over the years.. which btw, applies to her as well (Pushkar's line). But, then again apart from a sense of loss and the world torn apart how is she going to deal with this space that cannot be bridged. Will she again start testing him (whether he is still the same) or just letting him go? And supposedly, she reads that letter somehow I also feel aesthetically and emotionally it reduces so much of Shravan's love. His teenage crush or not, he does keep that letter secured as a token of what he had lost, hurt pride, love and also, carrying his childhood in his heart in spite of him being ever so successful.
I would want the letter to be read not at this point but when they are together.. at this point, it only means Sumo would know what she had lost (she might not yet reveal it to Shravan that she had read his letter).. it will never spell out why this Oxford-returned lawyer values it so much that he cannot share it with anyone.
So, again status quo😛
They will both have to step up and I do believe, its time for the makers to concentrate on their musings as well.
Shravan should have realized why Sumo was unable to thank him, going around that elaborate tom and jerry chase while Sumo should reflect on his behaviour (why was he so bitter for the past ten years going so far as to humiliate her.. why did he change for good or bad) but more so, on why she cannot do without him.
Primarily, the ten years thing should be kept under lock and key for now.. let them understand each other and move beyond a game.. Love is more than a game
Ultimately it is not itni chhoti si baat😉
This show is wonderful, na.. most of the time we are constantly accumulating our sidenotes and yet the text is not being understood...
Thank you Chick for taking the time out and replying to a puzzle called Shravan-Sumo😆
Though i am very sure we are going to do a lot of rereadings😊
