@ Beagle wonderful analysis. Thank you for your 😃response
Shravan's love for Sumo has been articulated in different and in multiple circumstances. True.
But, Sumo's journey has yet to be mapped. Absolutely agree.
Friday's episode did inexplicably show Suman to have developed feelings for Shravan .. one whose trajectory, to say the least, has been to seek closure from what she had done those ten years ago.. a mistake committed inadvertently. Maybe, the makers wanted to show as if it was just there waiting to be ignited.. as if it required a faint push and those pictures triggered what was always meant to be.
Yet
I do agree her response portrayed as love does seem to be rushed (because its a finite series.😕.), there doesnt seem to be a lot of reflection. Why Preetha? Shouldnt she look within? My post was titled as Rubik cube, its not an easy game.. even when you have mastered its intricacies.. you do commit mistakes, and might be, these convo with Preetha are just part of that exercise. Maybe then she would realize that beautiful ehsaas that they shared was always love though it might be classified through various means. Isnt it time that she also needs to reflect on both results as well as nateeja?
And you are right, at the present why should Shravan explain or clarify his feelings to her. He is willing to wait.. as he himself said that he has done so for these many years.
Also, primarily because of this reason I do not want that letter to be read by Sumo. Let her find her own notes which she might have mislaid during this journey of companionship that she shared with him or let her write her own notes. Even Shravan i would want him to read his letter again and add few notes all supplementing or even conflicting with what he felt those ten years ago.
Love is not static so why rely on an ancient relic.. time to draw a new painting

Hi Indrani,
That's quite an interesting discussion on Sumo.😊

Actually Sumo makes a lot more sense to me than Shravan...
We have not seen what Sumo was like in the past ten years. Pushkar has. He has read 'love' in her bechaini to meet Shravan...Suman is just fitting the pieces together now.

In ten years, she has matured, and waited for Shravan...because in those ten years, she went back to being lonely...She could have surrounded herself with the noise that she had wanted to drown her loneliness in...It doesn't even look like she made an effort. She withdrew more and more into herself, much like what she had been after she was orphaned...Only, this time around, the changes were not visible to anyone else. In those ten years, she didn't call it love...But she did follow up on him through the fb...and her admiration for him had reached a prime even before he had come back to India. The girl who cleaned up Shravan's room and left that note for him was certainly having a crush on him, though she called it friendship...she dressed up, to the point of being called desperate...but Puskhar waqs right too...She had been so eager to please Shravan...their fight years back had become insignificant in the excitement of meeting him again.

When did Sumo fall in love? Who knows? All she must know is that the moment Shravan left, happiness drained out of her life.

And what happened after he was back? She hated the guy who had become so insensitive- to her, her family (when he left the pooja, she thought he was getting back at her)...Then Khosla happened...They got back to where they had left..That Shravan and Sumo who had been good friends...

Now from Shravan's POV, what is the hurry to rush anything at all? He has built a life in these ten years- ten fruitful years...He doesn't even know if he has moved on from what could have been a childhood crush..but he does value her as a friend..she is still his best friend...he doesn't want anything else complicating that for now...until he has figured out where he himself stands...he wouldn't fall head over heels this time, he would go about it practically..looking at how feasible this would be...He will make sure he won't lose that friend, come what may.

For Sumo it is a different story. She is getting constant inputs from people telling her there is something beyond friendship here..Be it Khosla, her mami - masi, Preetha..and now even Pushkar...Even Preetha realising there is something more than friendship here, has happened gradually. So I find it quite sensible that Suman would want to know exactly where she stands with Shravan...She would accept whatever he wanted..If he said they were friends..even if it hurt her...But what if they were actually more than friends? Should she wait for Shravan to come around, or should she find out if he is waiting for her to make the next move...She is desperate to know.

As for the letter-let us see how it plays out. If Shravan has written a letter like that years ago, where does it say he has to still feel the same about her ten years down the line. In fact, if he stresses on the friendship zone, it must mean he has moved on...at least that is what it could look like to Suman. 😉

@Chick

For me, of late it is Shravan who is making more sense (since the time they visited Sumo's paternal home)😃

Pushkar's reading of her desperation does fluctuate from that of plain excitement in meeting a long lost friend and as something more than friend. Even when he agreed to a bet with Preeti, he is shown as doing some mental mathematics... he is not completely sure.

For me the fight was insignificant, she really did feel sorry however she might have penned down the apology note. All of a sudden you cannot verbalize those years of loneliness, the felt loss in words... her very silence and that small smiley was enough for me and also, the way she kept that apology note in that book (last page and all).. allowing Shravan to reflect that they were still standing on the same page... she had not moved on. It was again a sixteen years girl's heartfelt sorry.

FB, is however, something which both were doing.. they were following each others movements and yet.. I would still label these actions as merely friendship. If love it is to be understood (which it was the way she treasured his pictures and other stuff buying it from the raddiwala and Shravan also holding on to other relics from the past).. yet another picture does arise. Shravan did not need to follow her (fb movements) considering that he felt so bitter towards her.. Sumo, on the other hand, was never bitter in her feelings towards him, so her following her friend was like keeping tabs on him so that the day he arrives in India she will be able to make up to him.

She felt she did a mistake and knew she can make up to him as countless times she had done before. The eagerness and the excitement she felt for her friend had a history which yet could not be labelled as love.

Shravan, it is true that he doesnt want to complicate matters.. his child-like enthusiasm does allude towards this. Yet, he is the same man who could not spell out to Sumo why he did hit out at Verma.. a friend would have definitely revealed this fact to Sumo, a lover might not. In fact, even when he announced his engagement to Urvashi, his eyes were probing her and the line "musibat ke waqt apne sath chodd jaate hain" was a clear reference towards his relationship with Sumo. He had already exacted his pound of flesh by this time and yet he was not happy, he wanted more. We know he didnt want revenge anymore.. then what was that unsaid narrative?

I do think he knows where he stands.. yet he is stopping himself... because he is unsure of Sumo's feelings as he believes that this time around she should come around to reveal her feelings. Or, is he plain scared that this time he would lose it all? He has not read the narrative holistically looking at the smaller picture.. wonder what would happen when he realizes that these small pleasures he has again found in her company shall have to be left behind for ever. Will he play it squarely...or only wait for Sumo? Does love need to be spelled out? Does he need to be secure first that she loves him and then make a move? Can he again listen to his small sixteen year old teenager's voice and go ahead and claim her hand without thinking of the consequences? The way he went ahead and held her's and Nanu's hand during that famous court scene.

Yet, the fact remains that even ten years before his revelation was unknown to Sumo so why does he feel the need that only Sumo should explain. Ten years is a long time.. recently, he also exacted revenge in the worst possible way.. why would Sumo knowing how he felt for her in these ten years go and reveal everything? Yes, he helped and his actions did speak louder than earlier.. but then she might read it as him being a person of integrity and also, that of a dear friend.

My only point is suppose all of Preetha's tricks are successful will they mean she is in love or Shravan is in love with her? Lets take it that she decodes his actions as Shravan being in love with her.. will that make her fall in love with him or she will just read it as both being in love. Whether Shravan loves or not, she should take time to contemplate whether she is in love with him. And if she has already fallen in love with him, I am not very sure this has been executed very well in the show. Her excitement, her desperation have been too few.. and her hesitancy, her blabber might also stem from the fact, that now there is a decided disparity between the two. He is far more assured and confident and she doesnt know at times how to deal with these changes.

Definitely yes, more so when Shravan has time and again assured that he has changed over the years.. which btw, applies to her as well (Pushkar's line). But, then again apart from a sense of loss and the world torn apart how is she going to deal with this space that cannot be bridged. Will she again start testing him (whether he is still the same) or just letting him go? And supposedly, she reads that letter somehow I also feel aesthetically and emotionally it reduces so much of Shravan's love. His teenage crush or not, he does keep that letter secured as a token of what he had lost, hurt pride, love and also, carrying his childhood in his heart in spite of him being ever so successful.

I would want the letter to be read not at this point but when they are together.. at this point, it only means Sumo would know what she had lost (she might not yet reveal it to Shravan that she had read his letter).. it will never spell out why this Oxford-returned lawyer values it so much that he cannot share it with anyone.

So, again status quo😛

They will both have to step up and I do believe, its time for the makers to concentrate on their musings as well.

Shravan should have realized why Sumo was unable to thank him, going around that elaborate tom and jerry chase while Sumo should reflect on his behaviour (why was he so bitter for the past ten years going so far as to humiliate her.. why did he change for good or bad) but more so, on why she cannot do without him.

Primarily, the ten years thing should be kept under lock and key for now.. let them understand each other and move beyond a game.. Love is more than a game

Ultimately it is not itni chhoti si baat😉

This show is wonderful, na.. most of the time we are constantly accumulating our sidenotes and yet the text is not being understood...

Thank you Chick for taking the time out and replying to a puzzle called Shravan-Sumo😆

Though i am very sure we are going to do a lot of rereadings😊

How did I miss this post ? Indrani, thanks for letting me know about it.

Not only the main post even the one you replied to chicksoup is very thorough and asks many questions which we as viewers have. And I think the CVs are having many secrets up their sleeve.

Now Shraman are compared to Rubix Cube too ? 😆
And then between you and chick there are notes, signposts, side notes and what not...

I am now waiting for redwine1's shot...😉

PS: I do not see any analysis of yesterday's episode but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Indeed, we would have to do a lot of re- readings.😳...That is what makes the show so lovely...that we can discover so many facets to this duo.
Pushkar- Of course, he has to do his mental math...because neither Suman nor Shravan have verbally confessed it..so he relies on his knowledge of the two people he loves the most. But he did have that faith...😉😆

Sumo's realisation: I find it in the long wait...in the confession of the loneliness of the ten years...in the pain behind the accusation of Main kya tha aur Tum Kya ho(Beyond her being publicly disgraced like that, there was the ache of what her best friend had grown up to be...or how bad he had fallen in her eyes)..in the resignation when he let him in her room to be shoved the 3Lakh into her hands , the hope with which she opened the door to a childhood memory revoked, and the desperation that led her to push him to the extent he got hurt. These are not things she would do to anyone else- not even Pushkar...even if she bosses over him almost as much...so I see a lot more friendship in each and every interaction of hers with Shravan. How well does Sumo know it?...Only to the point where she will say- 'OK. You want friendship, Fine, I'll take that.Whatever you decide.' But even before Preeta's suggestions, she drooled over that picture and spent an entire night restless because she wanted to tell everyone what she actually felt about Shravan...But first she needed to know what he had said. What more would I have expected in Sumo's journey to love...I have nothing to add personally.

The letter- 😆- She sees teh letter before he leaves- that much is clear from the OLV, though the sequence was the other way around...so I'd like to think the letter didn't make a difference.😉

Preetha's tricks- Are not going to confirm or dispel anything...no matter how hard Sumo tries- just like we saw in the Mon epi, I guess Shravan will have a reason for everything.😆

@Chick, as usual... your take is beautiful
I have nothing more to add, though i do wish this letter remains a mystery.. but since you say there is an OLV.. so lets see how the makers have played it out.
About yesterday's episode, Shravan might not have a reason but unstated and inexplicably i do believe it is all love
Agree, on what you did say about Sumo.. that was all love😃

And Chick your understanding of human emotions is wow👏
