There isn't enough for me to say on this topic. And like Sammy said, I love how they never make a big tamasha of the fact that they've indulged in such subtleties. It's there for you to notice and interpret for yourself.
Man I can go on an on about the things I love about this show,
Do I start with the kind of effort the makers put in? (Just one of the COUNTLESS examples: Shravan's graduation gown in a picture the screen glanced over for a mere 5-10 seconds resembling the Oxford Law School graduation gown)
The fact that everything is part of a larger story, there are no "uncessary/filler" scenes? Even the "comedy" ones.
-Nanu making the Maami/Maasi clean the house: thematically pre-developing the house track.
-The whole goonda fiasco not just a random scene thrown in for good measure, but to lead the track forward as Shravan would find Suman's wallet there, bring the money home, find out about the 3 lakhs. It wasn't "just there."
The REALISM in the writing, storyline, performances? Even the annoying MAMI is realistic, you see her and you're like I've SO MET a bitchy aunty like that. They could've turned her into Cinderella's OTT stepmom, but her two-facedness, selfish behavior, make her a lot more realistic. Jab faida dikhta hai, toh toot padti hai, as many people do.
The lack of loopholes and WHOLE UNABASHED use of logic?Which is a delight btw.
The writer's ability to spin cliche tracks in a completely new direction? (The goonda track, the engagement/Urvashi thing)
Or do I applaud the characterizations/performances? There is so much I can say here, I'll spare you the essay, but just...the fact that there is really no clear cut right and wrong, and that despite there not being a clear cut right/wrong box to compartmentalize characters. Yes Shravan wanted revenge, but he did not want anything beyond that one night, his actions after that night force us to look beyond that one night. And the backstories of the characters. The dynamics between them all, which brings me to:
A solid supporting cast. Like hats off to the casting and the writing, the relationships/dynamics between these characters are just so rich and sell the show convincingly even when the leads aren't there.
And of course the beautiful, poignant, realistically heartbreaking, and relatable story of Shravan & Suman. And of course, the way Namik & Nikita breathe life into these complex characters without a single false note is commendable.
And this is just the tip of the iceberg, lovely post D! And sorry for the essay, could not control my fangirl feels! ❤️ I don't always have the time or energy to respond this well, but this topic is one very close to me. EDKV will be remembered, it's setting the standards higher with each passing episode. I am truly, genuinely, so PROUD to be an EDKV fan.
