Very very true.
That is why I don't believe in terms like feminism etc, because one, every action & reaction is about context. What appears objectively right, may be perfectly well justified if one looks at the context, eg - Shravan's behaviour at the prom. And secondly, I believe every thing doesn't need to be looked at in view that a man did something to a woman etc, why can't it just be a human did something to another human? This whole man/woman thing just brings up so many many problems.
Yeah the suffering of male leads' has undoubtedly been overlooked, but at the same time, hasn't their love for the FL always been glamourised as well? All these popular indian shows like IPK, Geet - yes people love the pairing, but it is always Arnav's love, Maan's love that is spoken of & given so much of thought/discussion.. if the female lead goes out of her way to forgive the man for his wrongs, & sort of pours him with love, she automatically becomes a doormat. But if a man does that, he becomes the ultimate lover.
So the prejudices (for the lack of a better word) run both ways actually.
