Part 3
He didn't want to be there. He never liked the family get togethers. Of course, he was there for his father. If it wasn't for his dad, he wouldn't even be in this place. Although, he was glad that he got to work in the small city. He didn't like the overpopulated cities because those reminded him of her. Suman loved big cities. She loved where she grew up. He could never imagine her living in such a small town. Where are you, Sumu? He hated her, but his heart could never stop asking that question. Where was she? He wanted to know. He knew she was probably happily married to some businessman by now and lived somewhere abroad, but he still wanted to know where she was. He sighed as he looked out the car window. He missed her so badly.
He fixed his jacket and stepped out of the car. Neerav had requested him to take over the hotel, and Shravan took it right away. He was in dire need of distraction. Away from the city, away from her memories in that city... he just needed to get away. Five years and he was still there... stuck on the same roof. How did people forget those who broke their heart yet had the remedy to heal it? Wherever she was, she still had the answers he needed to heal his fractured heart.
He stared at the hotel. This was much smaller than their other ones, but still a huge attraction for this small city. He sighed at the strange calmness in the air. Maybe he made the right decision at least once. He walked around the hotel and restaurant, already making mental notes for the changes he wanted to make. Pushkar had texted him that family arrived on time for once. He needed to find Neerav so he didn't have to be the center of their arguments.
The moment he stepped on the floor where the administration offices, he started feeling some kind of uneasiness. He scoffed it off, thinking it was due to the nervousness of the new place. Well, not anymore. The moment he came across Neerav's office, his heart stopped beating. It seemed like every nerve in his body froze at the scene unfolding before his eyes. There she was, the one who stepped so heartlessly on his heart. How cruel was it that she was right there in from of him. Her site hurting him so painfully yet he couldn't hate her.
It took him a while to get back to his senses, but when he finally did understand what was going on, his eyes flashed with angry flare. Neerav and Her. That hurt him more than when she walked out on him the first him. All along she was with his cousin and there he was hurting... every second of every day. His mind was too foggy to see her reaction. He wanted to grab the chair and throw it across, but No she wasn't worth it.
He walked away from there. He walked away from that building where he just witnessed his heart break again. He kept telling himself... she wasn't worth it. She wasn't worth... again and again. But he knew it too, that it was a blatant lie. Damn it, She is worth it. He hit the steering wheel. She is worth everything because I still love her. He loved her. He loved her so damn much that it hurt him. Loving her hurt him so much that he didn't want to breathe. He didn't want to see another day, but he had to keep going. He had to breathe to ask her what did he do wrong? Why wasn't his love not enough for her? Why had she become so greedy? Why had she become so heartless?

"That was my cousin." She could hear Neerav, but she couldn't process any of the words that he said. Hell, she couldn't process any but the man that just returned to her life. The same man she loved so much, but she was running away from him.
She could see the pain so clearly in his eyes that she had caused him five years ago. Not just the pain, but the hate he had for her. Why was her fate so cruel? She wasn't ready to face him. Not now... not ever.
"I need to go."
She whispered. She didn't even know if Neerav heard it, but she left. She walked away as if she just lost her soul. What was she going to do now? Her mind was already trying to find another away to run away from him, but she couldn't. She couldn't leave this job. This job paid her enough for her grandfather's treatment and her brother's college... and the little one. Oh, my god... he was going to return from the camp. She didn't know how she was going to deal with everything.
She picked up her things from the locker room and bid her goodbye for the day. She was walking aimlessly. She couldn't go home. She was couldn't answer anyone's questions. She was too tired to even think about how he is going to change his life again. Why were their lives so intertwined? She believed she'd never see him again. Their lives had taken a turn for worse... well, just hers. He seemed to do well for him. Her... she, on the other hand, couldn't even breathe without worrying about when her life will throw another curve ball at her.
She was about to cross the road to get to the elementary school when a white car stopped right in front of her. She was about to get mad at the driver. She was done with the day and the things coming her way. She opened her mouth to yell at the driver when he actually saw who it was. He had purposely stopped so harshly right in front of her. His eyes seemed so dead cold that a shiver ran down her spine. She could feel the anger building up. No words were needed. She needed to get away. Her life was too screwed over for him to get involved. She turned to run as fast she could, but the voice from her left stopped her dead in her tracks.
"Mommy,"
She turned and there he was another truth of her life that tore her heart apart four years ago. Two cruel realities of her life, both staring at her with questions in their eyes.
Okay! You don't leave us on a cliffhanger like that! Mommy? Who's child is it?
