@spnfan it's a romantic thriller where the component of thriller changes the paradigm of romance itself. And comparisons if made without taking into context as to how romance is played out will amount to mere foolishness. I won't challenge your opini🥱ons on pairing and chemistry but I beg to disagree. Also, you brought in the first few episodes of deewana how many times was Shiv in the same frame as Shivanya? You can barely count them in your fingers. Even now the romance shown is what happened way back in the past but is absent in the present narrative. In EDKV Sumo and Shravan worked not because of the compatibility in their heights but in the way past coalesced into the present. Past and the present were woven beautifully. And since you used Shah Rukh reference, did Shah Rukh manage to evoke the same resplendent memories with Kajol as he did during DDLJ? If Yes, nothing further to be said in this regard.
Plus again comparison with a cinematic art form with that of telly medium again is going to lead nowhere. My PhD research is on thrillers and if I disregard the genre itself and compare it with Shakespearean tragedy rest assured I shall never be able to complete my research.
In a thriller there is always fluidity in thought and expression which also means trust nothing what's shown to you till it ends.
thriller, roamance, family drama, horror and any other genre dont apply for hindi serials. There are only a very few hindi serials which stayed true to the genre till the end. Otherwise all of them goes the same root after a month or two.At the end of the day it will work only if the actors and chemistry click with the audience. Also is there any thrilling element in the show to start with. Also chenistry b/w actors is important in all the genres whether it is between opposite sexes or same sexes. A thriller withl 2 male actors as the leads should also have a good chemistry b/w the leads to make the thriller more appealing and interesting.
What you said ahout thrillers is how it should be and i agree on that but does edt comes under thriller category to start with. Except for the writers and makers saying its a romantic thriller there is nothing romantic or thrilling abput the show.
Ofcourse srk did.. Remember the dance scene from kkhh, suraj hua matham song from k3gand the scene right before that, the romantic scenes from mnik. Dilwale is the only exception but still gerua song stands out. Just compare srk's ivs with kajol and other costars and see the chemistry.
Lets compare telly couples chemistry itself. Sanaya irani's chemistry with her current husband was liked by all and they were a hit couple but she managed to have much more chemistry with barun sobti and she had decent chemistry with her rangrasiya costar as well. She had good chemistry with pretty much all her costars but all her chemistry is compared with barun sobti. Same with dristi. Her pairing with gurmeet and vivian both were a hit and her chemistry with both the actors are compared.
Edkv was a well written drama and nimik were an instead hit. I started watching it only after seeing one scene and i didnt know their backstory and i know a lot of members in if who started watching it because nimik clicked insteadly with them. for someone as tall as namik height does matter. He looked good with lisa and niki but almost everyone found hia pairing with his costar from sbs show weird. The same goes for donal and its more awkward since she has better chemistry with vikram. It would have been unnoticed if the makers were creative and didnt try too hard with shivanya. Their love story lacks depth and as a backstory only some cheesy romance is shown which adds nothing tobthe main storyline.
