Alright everyone! Here's a steamy part 13 ;) Hope you'll enjoy!!!
Part 13
Pooja Sharma was worried. It was a strange emotion to feel for her. She was never worried. Angry? Sure. Frustrated? Most definitely. Scared? When the occasion called for it. But worried? She couldn't recall ever feeling truly worried. Not even when it had just been her and Rani alone on the streets as kids. She had always had an unfaltering confidence in herself. She supposed that that's what really allowed her to get into the skin of Jahnvi Mittal - the unnerving level of confidence. But this was different. Biting her lip in agitation, Pooja paced back and forth on the cold hard wood floor of the hotel room.
Where is he?! She wondered, her eyes flickering to the alarm clock on the bedside table. In bright red letters, the numbers 7:16 blinked. It was past 7 P.M. and it was getting dark out. Worst of all, she had absolutely no idea where Kabir Mittal had disappeared of to.
She mentally kicked herself. Why couldn't you keep your damn mouth shut, Pooja? She admonished. If she had done so, it was likely that the two minutes of awkwardness that had befallen them during the photo session would have dissipated away on its own. But no. Pooja had to spew out at him right away. And now he was nowhere to be seen or heard.
She glanced at her cell phone which lay scattered on the bed. Should I call him? She wondered. Would it be the correct thing to do? Normally when people went missing you tried their phones first, didn't you? Her heart suddenly lurched as the words "went missing" crossed her mind. No, she shook her head. He's not missing. And neither is he a child. He can find his way back on his own. She folded her arms across her chest and gave an angry glare towards the phone that simply refused to ring. And he thinks I'm inconsiderate. She thought, indignantly. I'm not the one who stalks off in the middle of the day without a word. Her eyes narrowed in a frown. If Kabir Mittal had thought she had been angry during their little encounter, she was now on another level of furious. He had it coming for him when he returned.
She gazed longingly at her phone again. How hard would it be to make one phone call? She thought. What's the worst that could happen? But she had barely released that thought when her mind responded with: He might not answer.
A cold chill ran up her spine. He might not answer. What would it mean if he didn't? Either a) he was in some sort of trouble. Or b) he was still angry with her. Neither option seemed pleasing to Pooja. But, her mind continued. What if, on the off chance, he answers his phone? What then? The flood of relief that went through her at that consideration was enough for her to rush over to her phone and begin punching in his number. Now it was just the click of one button. I just have to call him, she thought. Just one button. So then why was her heart thrumming so loudly in her chest? It's your damn ego. She thought, irritably. You don't want to be the one to make the first move. And yes, the truth was, a large part of her issue WAS her ego. Earlier in the day, she had essentially told Kabir to do whatever the hell he wanted. And now she was calling to check up on him? Didn't it look needy and desperate?! And Pooja Sharma was neither of those things. But what if something is really wrong and he's in trouble? came the next question. And so, composing herself, she dialed.
Fortunately, it hadn't been two rings into her call before the door to their hotel room burst open. She whirled around and her eyes were greeted with Kabir. The sight she saw caused her to freeze. Was this the same Kabir she had left behind today? His once neatly brushed back hair was now a mess, with locks scattered randomly across his forehead. His eyes were red - as if he had been crying, and his white shirt clung transparently to his body as a result of the onslaught of rain outside. He looked slumped and when he walked, she could see him wavering. And then realization hit. Kabir was drunk. Absolutely and one hundred percent wasted. Her eyes gleamed in fury. So this is what he was doing all evening. He left me stranded in the middle of an unknown city and spent the day drinking. And then he has the audacity to call ME inconsiderate. It was laughable, and had Pooja not been so worried just moments before, she may have laughed. But that worry was quickly turning into a new and all too familiar emotion - anger. She marched towards him, hands on hips. His eyes were clouded and unfocused.
"What the hell do you think of yourself?" She demanded. "And what have you been doing? Drinking?!" He didn't seem to be registering any of what she said. He threw his black leather jacket onto the bed and turned his eyes back to her. As before, he was quiet. "Kabir Mittal," she began, teeth clenched. "Would you do me the honor of RESPONDING to me when I speak to you?! You haven't talked to me all day!" She reminded him. She hoped that she could guilt him into speaking, but Kabir was having an entirely different reaction. He raised his eyebrows in surprise. His attention was now fully directed towards her. "Are you... Are you upset that I haven't talked to you all day?" he asked. His voice was slurred and to Pooja, it sounded oddly husky. She paused, taking in his question. Why is he asking that? she wondered. And why did he say it...like THAT? She swallowed, brushing a lock of hair behind her ear and turning around so he wouldn't see her flustered expression.
"No," she lied. "Not at all. It didn't bother me." Receiving no response from him, she whisked towards him, prepared to go off on him again. But by this time, Kabir had backed up against a wall. He had one foot resting on the wall and his arms were folded nonchalantly. A slow smirk spread over his lips. Pooja gritted her teeth. Was he laughing at her?! She marched over to him. "What's so funny?" She demanded, not two feet away from him now. His smirk only grew wider. "I'm asking you a question!" She yelled. "I'm sick of your silence. Say something!" As she was about to smack him on the arm, his hand flew to her wrist, fixing it firmly in his hold. Before she knew it, he had pinned her flat against the wall. His one hand had a firm hold on her wrist and his other lay gently on the wall beside her, preventing her escape.
Pooja felt as if the breath had escaped her very lungs. She knew she was breathing and yet it felt like there wasn't enough air in the room. She felt suffocated. Her eyes were wide in surprise and she had little opportunity for her mind to register any logical thoughts. Kabir's eyes were like fire, gleaming with intent. His eyes were frozen on hers. Not blinking. Not moving. Just when Pooja thought she might pass out due to lack of oxygen, Kabir leaned in. He was so close that she felt his warm breath against his ear. I need to push him off, Pooja thought. And she knew she was very well capable of pushing him off. If she pushed him off, Kabir would recede and would never touch her again. She had that much respect for the man at the very least. But somehow she couldn't bring herself to do it. His breath caressed her ear and she couldn't help the shudder that trembled through her entire body. He wasn't touching her and yet it felt as if each cell in her body had been touched by him.
"Liar," he whispered finally. Liar. As the word registered in her mind, her eyes flashed to his and she squirmed. "Kabir, stop. Let me go." She fumbled frantically with her wrist. With every passing moment she felt the heat rising up her cheeks. Her lips were saying something and her heart was saying something else entirely.
Kabir gazed down at their entwined hands. Noticing her flustered attempts, he released her wrist and instead positioned his hand against the wall, firmly trapping her against himself. It was like a game of predator and the prey. And the intoxicated Kabir was relishing this. Pooja could barely bring herself to meet eyes with him. Her heart was pounding so hard in her chest that she couldn't help but wonder how she was still alive. What's happening to me? She wondered. "Let me go, Kabir." she whispered slowly. Despite her words, she made no attempt to escape him. In response to her demand, Kabir simply took a step forward. If she leaned in even the slightest bit, she would be able to feel his entire body on hers. She swallowed, suddenly feeling hot. His eyes gazed into hers, unwavering and unrelenting. "Not until I answer your questions," he murmured, brushing a lock of hair off her forehead. He didn't have to speak any further. She knew he was referring to her earlier accusations. Her confusions. He was going to answer every single question that had been whirling in her mind for what felt like an eternity now.
He leaned towards her ear. "I was worried," he slurred. "After the incident with my brother, you didn't call me. You didn't speak to me. You didn't come into work. The truth is Pooja," he said softly. "I can't see you hurting. I wanted to make sure you were safe." Pooja's heart lurched at his words. Part of her didn't want to hear it. She wanted to continue to despise him - to associate him with his father and hate him with every piece of her heart. But she would be lying if she said she still harbored any feelings of animosity towards Kabir. And now...with every word, he made it harder for her to maintain her composure. Kabir gave her a small smile. "It was never about the company Pooja. It was never about professionalism or lack thereof. It was always about you. Your safety. Your feelings."
She was quiet. Pooja didn't think she would be able to speak even if she wanted to. Slowly, she raised her eyes to meet his. The expression she saw was one she had never seen before. There was no harshness, no anger, no worry, no fear. It was something else entirely. She felt a shiver run up her spine. But Kabir was not finished. "I don't know why I came here with you...or what made me decide to offer the suggestion to do so. But if there was one name on my mind when I did it, it was yours," he murmured. "I wanted to make sure you were okay." He shuffled, his hands forming fists against the wall. He sighed and closed his eyes as if pained. "I feel protective of you Pooja. Very...very protective." His voice shook. It was as if it took all his inner strength to speak the words out loud. And Pooja had gone numb with shock. She could barely understand what he was saying.
His eyes slowly flickered towards her, captivating her once again within his brown orbs. Without understanding quite what he was doing, he placed his index finger against her forehead. Gently, his finger began tracing her...beginning first at her forehead and then travelling to her hair line...her cheek...her ear...her nose... and finally her lips. Pooja closed her eyes and released a breath as she felt the warmth of his finger against her mouth. He traced around the curve of her lips. Pooja's hands were curled into fists at her side. She was certain she would melt into the ground at any moment. His fingers were wreaking havoc on her entire body and the man wasn't even trying. He leaned in and she felt his breath against the nape of her neck.
"I want to kiss you," he growled. Pooja's eyes flickered open and she gazed into his, stunned. His eyes had a dangerous glow to them and had turned several shades darker with desire. "I want to kiss you so hard that you forget your own damn name. I want to feel your tongue in my mouth and I want to graze those lips of yours my teeth. When you're with me, I want you to forget every single damn thing from your past."
Pooja thought her heart might nearly stop. And she wanted so badly to tell him to stop. But her body wasn't cooperating. Unintentionally, a soft moan escaped her lips. When she looked into Kabir's eyes the next minute, they had hardened with an intensity she had never seen before. If he hadn't been turned on before, her moan had certainly done the trick. He leaned in, barely inches from her lips. "Stop me Pooja." He warned. "Stop me right now. If I get any closer to you, I won't be able to control myself." His knuckles had grown white from the tight fist he had made. He waited, his eyes fixed hungrily onto her lips.
His words rang in her mind again and again, tortuously. When you're with me, I want you to forget every single damn thing from your past. She had endured so much. Her childhood trauma. The death of her father...homelessness...consistently being dehumanized and insulted by society for her association with her father...and then living in the Mittal house had been a nightmare of its own. She thought back to Dhruv. The fake and loveless marriage...being kidnapped and nearly killed by Dhruv. The truth was, it HAD taken a toll on her. And if Kabir was providing her with an escape, was it so bad? She knew it was unhealthy. She knew it was completely and totally erratic madness. But in that moment, Pooja could think of nothing else except the man standing in front of her, offering her a way out of her problems - even if it was only for one night.
And so, breathlessly, she responded, "Kiss me, Kabir Mittal."
