Hey all,
Sorry for such a long delay in updating but being a med student means I barely have enough time for anything these days. Anyways as always I hope you enjoy this chapter :)
Recap: Viraf promises to Chhavi that he will be by her side through thick and thin and they fall asleep in each other's arms but what new problems lie ahead in their relationship?
Chhavi's POV:
The beam of sunlight penetrated my heavy lids and I woke up rubbing my eyes profusely. I stopped rubbing my eyes for a brief moment when I realised that there were rose petals and candles in my room. A smile spread across my lips as I recollected the craziness of last night and I turned hoping to see his peaceful sleeping face but to my amazement, there was no one there. I hopped out of bed and scoured the corridors preparing myself to have Viraf jump out of a corner and surprise me but there was absolutely no sight of him.
Before I could turn back to my room, a beautiful smell wafted to my nose and coerced me to follow the direction of the aroma. I helplessly wondered into the kitchen to find a busy Viraf whipping up breakfast as if he was the head chef of some top restaurant. He looked so engrossed in flipping the pancakes that he missed me coming up from behind him. I jumped on his back and screamed into his ear. Startled, he flipped the hot pancake onto his face and turned to see me with my hand over my mouth.
"Shit, Viraf are you okay? OMG I'm so sorry that was really stupid of me. Is your face burning? Do you need ice?" I panicked as I quickly started wiping his face with a wet towel.
"Pandeyji seriously aapka dimag kharab hogaya hai kya? Mera doh masterpieces kharab kar diya!" He said while snatching the wet towel from me.
"Kya? Doh masterpieces kaha se aya? Tum toh sirf ek pancake flip kar rahe the.." I said rather confused as a small smirk appeared on his red face.
"Toh mera shakal kya ek masterpiece se kaam hai? Baby my face is a work of art so hands off ok," he whispered as he bent forward to flick his nose with mine.
"Viraf seriously mazak chodo aur mujhe batao tum tikh ho na?" I inquired again seeing his face turn red from the heat of the pancake.
"Haan baba main tikh hoon aur waise bhi ab mujhe lag raha hai ki mujhe tumhari chef banna padega kyunki tumhe toh kitchen safety patha hi nahi hai. Agar khud aur iss ghar ko jala diya toh?" He said while dressing the stack of pancakes that I hadn't flipped onto his face with maple syrup.
"Ok fine, enough fun and games! Can we please eat your masterpieces now?" I yelled as I took the plate of pancakes away from him and placed it on my dining table.
I dug in instantly, savoring the sweetness of the maple syrup and also the warmth of the fluffy pancakes when I noticed Viraf staring off into the distance from the corner of my eye.
"What's wrong? Aren't you going to help me finish or do you think I'm a pig? Actually don't answer that," I said with my mouth full of pancake.
Viraf's POV:
As she took the pancakes and started digging in, I realised that I had to let her know that someone had called her this morning while she was sound asleep. I leaned up against the wall thinking about who this Pracheen could be? Why was he calling her so early in the morning and that too asking to catch up over coffee? I have never heard of this guy from her before. I should just ask her and find out.
"Haha baby you said it yourself not me. Btw you got a call this morning and I was told to pass on a message to you," I said sitting down next to her.
"Oh really? Kaun call kiya? Aur woh bhi itne subhe subhe?" she asked me glancing up only briefly while she continued to stuff pancakes into her mouth.
"Some guy called Pracheen called and told me that he wanted to just catch up over coffee. Waise yeh hero kaun hai jo meri girlfriend ko coffee par le jana chahthi hai? I asked trying to hide a tad bit of jealousy with cocky smile.
Chhavi's POV:
"There's no need to insecure, my giraffe. He's Vinnie's friend who I met last week and he invited both Vinnie and me to have coffee with him on Sunday. Aur waise bhi tumhare girlfriend hai hi itna sweet ki sabko mera saath time spend karna hai," I said slapping him lightly on his cheek.
Just as I said that, I felt like my stomach dropped slightly at the thought of Pracheen calling me. It was obviously nice having met him but he had been married three times already and the way he kept looking at me made me slightly uncomfortable. Initially, he had just asked me to coffee but I somehow managed to get Vinnie invited too. Only Vinnie knows about Viraf but maybe I should let Pracheen know too just so he backs off a little.
Viraf's hand touching mine brought me out of my thoughts as he quickly took the fork out of my hand and started digging in on what was left of the pancakes.
"Arey yaar banaya tha mere liye aur kha liye iss bechari gaye ne," he said looking at my lost expression.
"Gaye hoon main? Toh tum bhi kuch kaam nahi ho! Ab jaldi karo, aaj shooting mein early pochna hai nahi toh Saba hum dono ko kha jayengi," I said walking out of the room.
While walking to my room, I realised that I hadn't even told my parents about Viraf. Maa had called so many times and she has even sent me pictures of all the eligible bachelors of Patna but I kept waving it off saying I wanted to focus on my career. She would be much more delighted to hear that I was concentrating on my career rather than hearing that I'm in love with a non-veg Parsi who isn't really that comfortable with the thought of marriage.
Later on in the day during shooting of Mr and Mrs Chuiya scene: (Chhavi's POV)
The thoughts of the morning were still running through my mind and I felt like I could hardly focus on the dialogues I had to memorise. Thank God our shoot today required us to cuddle in bed and spend some quality time with each other. We were both lying on the bed under the covers with me spooning Viraf as he gently stroked my hair.
"Chhavi mujhe tumse kuch baath karne hi hai," he whispered to me as he continued to stroke my hair.
"Hum baad mein nahi kar sakhthe hai? Filal toh ab humko kaam karne hoga and also we're not a couple in public remember?" I whispered back and adjusted the quilt trying to make it look like we were rehearsing our dialogues.
"Yaar main soch rahi thi ki humko ek dusre ki parents ko milne chahiye. I mean this is a huge step in our relationship and I want them to be present in our happiness," he said pulling back into his ams again.
"Viraf, dekho aisa nahi hai ki main nahi chahthi ki humari parents jaane but I don't think it's the right time. Mujhe thoda aur waqt chahiye please," I said nestling my head onto his sturdy chest.
Viraf lay silent and started stroking my hair before uttering his dialogues. My stomach dropped again but this time I felt terrible for having asked for more time. He is so eager to introduce me as his partner to his parents but it's not so simple. I come from a different caste, society and religion and I don't want to break my parents' hearts either. We continued on with the scene but at the back of my mind I had Viraf's words replaying over and over again.
