Sorry to butt in, but the most successful replacement I can remember is from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Ronit Roy took over the role of the main lead in 2002 and stayed on till the end. And the show was a huge success. Another less successful example is the show Kkusum, the female lead replaced but the show continued for another three years. So replacements can work, but it depends on how the story is going and if people stick through the transition period. And in my opinion, I think EBI has a strong enough story line for the show to bounce back if Viraf is indeed leaving which it doesn't seem like it for now, but I'm still suspicious.

Sorry once again, I thought I should throw in my two cents.

@simaran why do you think i would be offended ...you have full rights to make your view... Well at kyonki and kusum time i was kid... My mom used to watch that but i was busy with tom and jerry at that time 😆..hence i don't know nothing much about these two shows.. But one thing is clear that kyonki and kusum shows belong from different sorta.. And QH, LTL, EBI show has mostly youth oddience hence these kind of shows are mainly based upon their ironic pair... And sathiya has different bunch of oddiences who like to watch the show mainly for storyline not for it's particular charecter or pair... Any ways thanks for the info that some replacement had worked in past ... I to praying that viffy should continue being mj 😔

Oh no I just have a habit of being politically correct, plus I'm (stereotypical) Canadian so saying sorry is second nature to me. I was a kid too when these shows ruled, unfortunately for me my mom would take over the tv. Sathiya would be classified in to the Kyunki, Kkusm, saas bahu category, but I think the principles of replacements applies to all types of shows. Some people will quit the show, some will stay and some new people will join. Look at Dil Mil Gaye, Riddhima (the lead) was replaced twice and the show kept running and many came to love the last replacement and her chemistry with the male lead.

I have to admit the whole MJ jail track has got me nervous again, but its a good time to introduce a new guy. Hopefully things turn out ok.
