Viewbie note: I was out this week, and am just back today, and therefore late to address this, but late or not, this is important, so here goes.
I'm the viewbie of this forum, who is responsible to ensure that this forum doesn't become an unpleasant place to visit. I happened to read all your original posts b4 you edited them. You managed to needlessly create a hostile environment where none existed b4 - and I say that as someone who partly agrees w/ your original contention that distorting these stories is making a mockery of the epics. The references to Draupadi being sexually molested was really uncalled for in making your otherwise pretty valid point that the production house is playing fast & loose w/ sacred stories. There have been bad enough distortions to the serial & the story already, w/o painting this hypothetical scenario.
But even more unacceptable was your starting a direct confrontation w/ other members, who were not even fully disagreeing w/ you. Personally, I do not like mytho movies & serials being distorted, but since every one of them has been - from the ones made in the 70s to the ones today, I've long ceased to expect authenticity from any of them. But this is not to say I condone it. The other members too have been pretty much annoyed @ these distortions, but rather than throw a hissy fit about it, they are laughing @ it. You may choose not to do so, and that's a perfectly legitimate & valid reaction. But painting such disgusting scenarios to buttress your case is really not acceptable for reasons that will be clear below.
As for your posting, anyone is free to visit here, and post - or not! Given your tantrums, you've clearly demonstrated that we're not going to miss much if you don't. At any rate, if you do decide to come back, do keep 2 things in mind while posting:
- Do not start unnecessary fights. Arguments over whether something is true or not is acceptable debate - and I tend to allow these more than what I-F typically does, even if it tends to be a heated argument, as long as facts are not a casualty of these arguments. That is admittedly stretching I-F rules, but I'm willing to do it and defend it happening on any forum I monitor, since I assume I can draw a line b/w a debate vs a flamefest
- Do not paint R-rated hypothetical scenarios. Underaged kids do visit this site, and therefore, we do what we can to keep it clean. In mythology, sometimes it's difficult, since the texts sometimes are pretty explicit about certain sexual activities (e.g. How Drona was born). However, what you wrote was simply gratuitous.
Ultimately, this forum is predominated by those who watch it for either religious reasons, or b'cos they are mytho buffs. All are welcome, but that doesn't give anyone the license to create a surly environment.
I'm freezing this thread. If you have any doubts, PM me, and I'll be happy to address them. So far, this forum doesn't have a rules & regulations thread, and I'd prefer not to create one, since it hasn't been necessary so far, and hopefully won't be going forward.
Please don't force me to do it!
