The week that was...
He came...We saw...He conquered...
What better way to sum up Kunal Karan Kapoor's return?
Well, this may not be the show that his fans would have wanted him to return to, but then...the hiatus was long ...one has to make choices and I suppose given the circumstances, would like to believe this was the best. His return definitely brought a flurry of emotions in the fandom world, the buzz that faded over time flared up to life overnight.
Shaurya Urmi Sinha grows up to be a well groomed, sensible, mature and a grounded young man. Oh did I miss handsome...The Handsome owner of the waz' newspaper, a media that reflects and professes principles his mother believed in, values his mother taught him. His newspaper was awarded the BEST and we got to watch a poignant moment when he turns to look at his mom as if asking "Did I do you proud, Ma ?" His mothers' eyes gleaming with pride as she walked up to the Dias to hand him the trophy. Throughout the week we got to see the unsaid, unwritten connect with his mother and it was endearing to see him seek out his mom's reaction to almost everything that was happening around her.
Shaurya's mom Urmi is not unknown to viewers. She runs an NGO and is one of those oppressed daughter in laws, Indian Television shows script and deliver with finesse.
Then we have Shaurya's step grandparents, grand dad, a man of great stature, the one trying to keep his family from disintegrating. Shaurya shares a great camaraderie with his Bade Papa and it's heartening to see such bonding with a step grandson.
Then comes his step grand mom...she gives a feeling of a tiger prowling every time she makes an entry...the background music enough to freak one out...It's hard to believe there are such people in the world, it's a pity to see one can live their whole lives hurting others and making their lives miserable. Should ask Damini to watch some Sadguru videos I guess.
Ishaani...naam toh suna hoga aur kartoot dekhe bhi honge...Yes she is Shaurya's step sister...She is what one is and can be under the tutelage of someone as malicious as her badi ma. Wonder why the good of the bade papa did not rub in...Maybe it did and that's the only reason why she trusts and likes her brother, for minor mercies. I strongly feel this is just the calm before the storm and it's not long before a big showdown between Shaurya and his sister ...is waiting to happen.
Then we saw Urmi meet up with her brother Gaurav (I hope I got it right), they talk of his long lost wife who left him along with their daughter only to fall prey to the vagaries of life and sustenance. Cheeku (again sorry if I did not get the name right) is Gaurav's son and works with Shaurya.
And the best part of the week was also the introduction of Diya...the female lead protagonist...a fiery, smart, fearless reporter of Awaz...who seems to have created a name for herself in the reporting world. Passionately crazy about her work she manages to get on to her Boss's (Shaurya) nerves with her inadvertent goof ups and tomfoolery. We also see her committed to her work and probably that's what gets her the special place in the team. she is engaged to a wannabe actor, a complete contrast of her temperament and character. One cannot miss the writing on the wall that this is a recipe for failure.
Questions that leave the viewer's wondering :
Does Shaurya have a soft corner for Diya ? We did see his heart skip a beat when she fell right into his arms after he saves her from getting electrocuted. For as second we also saw a flash of disappointment when he saw Diya and her fianc holding hands.
Shaurya's mom likes Diya, so what's that connection ?
Will the finance turn villain ?
What are Diya's feelings towards Shaurya...the list goes on...
