You took the words right out of my mouth!
DAK has been a challenge to watch from the start - the level of regression, MCP, walking all over women in the name of sanskar and culture - the way Urmi's family (dad and dadi mainly) would butter Samrat and over look all his flaws etc - its been a challenge. I kept watching to see WHEN Urmi would find her voice and stand up and fight for her dignity, sanity and rights.
She FINALLY did and the story was headed somewhere - though personally she should have done what she did when he physically assaulted her rather than wait till she found him cheating on her - but that's a different soap box.
Urmi finally standing up was the turning point of the show - this is what we as patient viewers were waiting for - Urmi taking him down, Urmi moving on with her life.
I would like to make a point here - Doli Armaano Ki - the Palanquin of Dreams/Hopes/Aspirations/Desires - why must that revolve around marriage? When the show started it showed a small town girl and her rosy images of love, marriage etc. Life after marriage was a severe reality check and it took her time to come to terms with this reality, accept it as her fate and bear with it - till she no longer could and broke free.
I'm proud of Urmi for standing up and moving on with her life - I really wish CVs had continued with this angle of how Urmi moves on in life, makes a name for herself, becomes career oriented, runs an NGO supporting women in situations she faced etc - why did it have to go the marriage route?
Samrat has no change - its the same cat and mouse game as before - not that I expected him to change but give the viewers a break. Urmi/Ishaan's marriage was totally uncalled for - its the same saas-bahu saga ALL over again.
What would have been a powerful message to society would be if they HAD to show the Ishaan-Urmi marriage - show how progressive Ishaan's family is - so what if your son wants to marry a divorcee and mother of 1 - had Ishaan's family been shown to be progressive and supportive then this would have been another powerful message to society and a lovely conclusion to the show - after all her struggles Urmi finally found a life partner that respects the person she is, and loves her for who she is and she finds a true companion in Ishaan.
The less said about the Tani-Samrat angle the better. Can't believe how they are letting Samrat live with them - Tani should have been kicked out. Ishaan is really stupid - Samrat isn't going to hurt Tani - she's his golden egg - but kick them out and then let Tani learn her lesson and Samrat's plan fails.
Cvs need to end this regressive storyline - its high time.
