With all due respect to the topic maker - I think I see what you are getting at and I hope this sums it up:
Children are not born bad - the way they turn out is a combination of their upbringing and environment. In the case of Samrat or men like Samrat in society - they have been wired over decades of reinforcement or rather no one to slap them on the wrist for their misogynistic thinking and repulsive attitude towards women.
People like that rarely if ever change. Primarily because they fail to comprehend how and why their mentality and behavior is unacceptable. Therefore I am unable to support a story line that shows Samrat changing his behavior and becoming a "good" husband, son and father. In my opinion showing such a track would be glossing over the social issue the show addresses and sending an incorrect message that bad boys can be changed through love - women just have to tough it out till the man realizes what wrong he's been doing.
In the context of the show - I don't think the focus is on reforming Samrat and him going through some catastrophic life changing event where he realizes his misdeeds and turns a new leaf. As far as I can see the show is now inching towards empowering women who are victims of abusive relationships to find their voice and speak out against this brutality or at the very least recognize they do not deserve this sort of treatment and it's completely with in their basic rights as a human to want to live a safe and respectful life.
As for Urmi - it's high time she takes legal action. She's been suffering for years now - she had chances to change her life earlier (when she went to her parent's house after the slapping incident during Holi) but for what ever reasons at the time she didn't take any concrete steps. This time especially after this brutal belt beating - I want to see her take legal action, fight for her son's custody and take him to a city far away from her in laws and parents and make a new life.
I'd like to see her taking aid from non-profits or women's groups that support victims of domestic violence and help them get on their feet. This would be a good social message - there is help out there - find it and take advantage of those resources.
