I like this show..as who all in this forjm are saying its regressive are running away from reality..they are cowards in a way..here the makers are making an effort to show sometning which til date happems in india in most of the cities..so rather than running away facing such issues nd sorting them are wat we indians shud do nd thats wat this show is all abt..I think till date 80 percent marriages in india are arranged..nd amongst them 60 percent are mostly suffering like urmi..here I m sure urmi wud take a stand nd make sam realise her worth which most of women dont do..I think this show is trying to educate which all women shud respect

I do not agree that people who are saying that this show is regressive are cowards.

Showing Urmi taking all the Bullcrap since she married the RAT and just crying and not making a stand for her equality in this marriage BUT makes a big show of women's rights in the Mall is ridiculous.

Yes, there are many marriages where women are treated like this and I too watched this show because I wanted the CV's to show that women can and should stand against such bullying.

But it seems the CV's want to keep stretching the abuse more than showing what a repressed woman who is educated can do to stand up to unjustified emotional abuse .

Many in India go through this and shows like this have a responsibility to educate women that there is a safe place to go and get help to come out of this kind of torture.

I have taken a hiatus from this show till they show Urmi has woken up from her fantasy of her husband being a nice man and making a stand to fight for her rights in her marriage or leave him and move on in life admitting that she made a mistake and some men just do not change.

Women should be respected and not be treated like some property or an object in a marriage. I know the original idea was to show that Urmi will stand up to this but it seems that she still has to endure more insults and abuse before a light bulb will go off over her head and maybe then she will stop being a coward and answer the RAT back.

Till then it is torture for the audience to watch Urmi just cowering and crying and not doing anything to make it better when she has shown she does know the difference and realizes that what SamRAT is doing is not right or fair.

Ya but think frm the story point of view..til the timethey dont show all this hw wud they establish characters[/QUOTE

The characters have been established from the very beginning. Even before the marriage SamRAT has been well portrayed as an unreasonable character that wants what he wants without any questions from anybody.

Even Urmi had her doubts but Ishaan mislead her into believing that all will be fine.

But if the CV's wanted to show a Urmi that even tried a little bit to hold her ground when she knew she was right then it would show the audience that at least she has some backbone and does not just cry and beg for permission for even going to her own fathers birthday.

It has now been months and Urmi still cowers under SamRAT and his evil mother.

I agree with TM, this is about the truth in lives of some women, even outside of India. Nothing is wrong in showing. Nothing is wrong in Urmi not standing early, because it takes time for women like Urmi to be strong that comes through experience and determination.
I can't understand why anyone would want her to stand up to Sam so early, when this is a series that does not last for one day, it is not a movie. They have to stretch the story line and show how Urmi slowly develops a backbone and stand up to her husband. If this is how the story will go, then that is the best show they can create that can impact women lives.

I just can't understand the urgency in Urmi's overnight change, that would be very unrealistic.

A lot of Indian men may still have their male egos and treat their wives like properties but Samrat here takes the cake here. His controlling nature is very abnormal and unreasonable and his behavior at times is extremely sick. Even when Urmi mostly puts up with his tantrums without fighting him, his behavior is so bad, imagine if she were to oppose him openly, how explosive he can get? It would not surprise me if became physically violent and that's what I have a problem with. The CVs just won't quit pushing the envelope and some viewers have glorified SamRat's character more than a demigod, simply because he is hot. Almost seems like what is being said is that a husband can get away with murder if he is hot. I bet is SamRat's character was played by an average looking actor or a not too good looking actor, he would be heavily criticized.

As for realistic, when SamRat threw Urmi out of the room and she spent a night in the living room sofa, well that would not have happened in Indian households, because most families would not want their daughter-in-laws sleeping in the living room when there are other male members in the family. But here, even the Samrat's dad did not have guts to assert his wife that she takes Urmi in their bedroom while he slept outside.
