Chapter 5
Two to three days passed by, Antara and Mr. Kaul almost tried in all of the colleges but all were giving some excuses. It was like nobody was ready to give admission to Antara.
On the third of search, Antara and Mr. Kaul were returning back to basti. Antara was all lost when Mr. Kaul said.
Mr. Kaul:- "lagta hai ab us sharma ko hi paise dainay paray gin".
Antara eyes got shot open. She was looking at her father in confusion.
Antara:- "papa yeh ap keh rahay hain.. Sari zindagi ap nay mujhay yeh sikhaya keh har woh kam karo jo sahi ho aur ab ap us sharma ko uski mangi hui rishwat daine walay hain??"
Mr. Kaul:- "beta aur koi rasta bhi nahin hai.. Tumhara dream pora karna hai!! Akhir maa baap ki pori koshish hoti hai keh bachon ki har khawaish ko poora karein".
Antara went all quite after listening to this. She was lost in her thoughts. She was starting to build a hatred, a weird negative reaction for the city, mumbai. She started to think about mumbai and its people.
Antara(to herself):- "is shahar kay log kitne sakht dil kay malik hain... Har kisi ko bas paisa bananay ki pari hai... Corrupt log..."
On the other hand, raghu and MachMach were standing near a tea stall drinking tea. A taxi stopped infront of them. Raghu was about to sip his tea when he saw antara stepping out of the car.. Raghu was again lost in the beautiful face but there was something missing on that face.. He was trying to find out when it struck in his mind SMILE... That beautiful smile... Where was it??? She was looking sad... Mr. Kaul cleared the taxi bill and took antara inside.
Raghu:- "oye MachMach woh bolay toh kashmir walay uncle bolay toh theek hain??"
MachMach suddenly remembering something put the tea down and said:- "aray haan bhai woh mereko tujhay kuch btana tha.. Par sala demagh chalta hi nahin.."
Raghu:- "toh kam piya kar aur badan khaya kar.. Ab bolay ga bhi ya aise hi phir bhul jayai ga??"
MachMach:- "kia bhai, apun bubbly aunty ka karekaram apun sirf weekend mein karta hai.. Acha woh chor aur yeh sun.. Woh kashmir party ka chota packet bolay toh woh pata raha tha uskay papa bohat pareshan hai.. Uski didi ko koi bhi college admission nahin day raha... Aj 3 din hogayai lagta hai usko aj bhi admission nahin mila...".
Raghu:- "lagta hai man laga kar parhti nahin hogi.. Number nahin hoon gain pass..".
MachMach:- "aray nahin bhai woh kia boltay hain jo uncha hota hai... Woh.. Woh.. Haan topper thi woh kashmir mein".
Raghu:- "hmmm.. Aik kam kar ja auncle ko lay kar aa yahan.."
MachMach nodded in yes and went towards antara's place...
Antara at the same time was standing in her balcony looking hatefully towards mumbai's sky where it was all clouded.. She was remembering her beautiful kashmir.. Its cool breeze... It beautiful sky filled with stars.. It was just like a piece of heaven. Suddenly in disappointment she looked down where she saw machmach approaching towards her home.
MachMach knocks at the door. Mr. Kaul answered the door. He saw MachMach standing.
Mr. Kaul:- "aray beta tum.. Sab theek toh hai.."
MachMach:- "hello auncle woh bolay toh apko bhai bola raha hai..".
Mr. Kaul:- "bhai???".
MachMach:- "haan raghu bhai... Chaliyai..."
Mr. Kaul:- "acha chalo... Geeta ji main ata hoon".
Antara saw MachMach returning with his father. She bacame a bit worried. She saw them heading towards raghu, rasika's brother.. The one who was staring at her with out blinking. From the looks, he looked like a ruffian(gunda) to Antara.
Raghu saw Mr. Kaul coming, he stood straight...
MachMach:- "lo bhai bola laya".
Raghu:- "hello auncle... Bolay toh ap theek sab bharya???"
Mr. Kaul:- "haan beta sab theek.?? Kia hua tumne bolaya sab theek??
Raghu:- "haan auncle sab theek woh kia hai apna kaam hai sab ka khayal rakhna."
MachMach looked at him and intrupted in between.
MachMach:- "bhai tu ne yeh pochnay ko bolaya tha mujhay laga tu inki beti kay admission kay baray mein pochay ga, main ne bataya tha na abhi.. Chal bhai ab tu badam kha.. Tu bhool gaya".
Raghu hit his palm on his head.
Raghu(in an angry tone):- "ay machmach chup kar.. Jab dekho mach mach.."
Mr. Kaul:- "aray beta tumko kaisay pata laga??"
MachMach:- "woh kia hai na auncle ishan ne apun ko.."
Raghu(grinding his teeth):- "MachMach".
MachMach:- "main jata hoon".
Raghu:- "haan.."
Mr. Kaul sat next to raghu on the bench.
Raghu:- "kia hua aucle ap theek toh ho?? Bolay toh doctor ko bolaun??"
Mr. Kaul:- "kia bataun beta.. Meri beti bohat intelligent hai.. Topper thi woh kashmir mein... And narrates the whole story to him...
While Mr. Kaul was telling raghu about what happened in principal sharma's office and after that, antara was restless. She wanted to listen what that gunda is saying to him..
Raghu:- "salay us sharma ki itni himat meray area mein hotay huay rishwat lay ga... Sala kam paisa detay hain uskay college ko donation mein."
Raghu became hell angry..
Raghu:- "auncle ap aik kam karo ap us sharma ko phone karkay bolo keh main rishawat daine ko tayar hoon aur usay jo main apko address doon ga wahan bolao... Baki mujhpar chor do.. Sala aisa intazam karoon ga admission bhi day ga sath 50,000/- apko day ga".
Mr. Kaul:- "par beta main inta paisa kahan say??"
Raghu:- "aray auncle apko sirf bolna hai karna nahin.. Bharosa karo mujhpar".
Raghu wrote an address on a paper and handed to Mr. Kaul. He thanked him..
Raghu:- "aray auncle aik thank u hi apun ko pasand nahin kabhi nahin bolnay ka".
Mr. Kaul smiled and started to head towards home. But was still worried whether he did the right thing!??
Raghu lifted his head to see the sky when he saw antara standing and staring him. Raghu again lost himself in her beauty.
Antara saw his papa coming. She rushed inside to get down.
Mrs. Kaul:- "kia hua?? Sab theek??"
Mr. Kaul (in a nervous tone):- "haan nhn woh mujhay sharma ko phine karna hai aur btana hai keh main paise daine ko tayar hoon aur jaga batani hai."
Antara heard this. Her blood started boiling. She was hell furious.
Antara(to herself):- "acha toh us gunday ne papa ko is liye bolaya tha."
Mr. Kaul went inside with mrs. Kaul following her.
Antara saw the chance and in full fury she went outside. She saw that raghu was on his terrace punching the bag hard.
Antara saw a fleet of stair going up straight to the terrace. She without any hesitation took them and went straight up.
While in bedroom, Mr. Kaul told the whole scene to Mrs. Kaul. She was he shocked to hear what raghu did for them. He called sharma.
P.S:- "hello who is this??"
Mr. Kaul:- "sharma g main anirudh kaul bol raha hoon"
Sharma got an evil smile on his face. It was like he got succeded in his plan but he didnt knew what was going to happen??
P.S:- "ohh sir aap, toh kia socha apne??"
Mr. Kaul:- "main apko 50,000/- daine ko tayar hoon!! Main apko aik jaga bata raha hoon wahan ajayai... Office mei raid bhi ho sakti hai".
P.S:- "aray wah kia baat kahi theek hai ap mjhay jaga SMS kar dijayi".
Mr. Kaul:- "theek hai.."
While on the other side, antara reach up and cleared her throat..
Raghu turned and was amazed to see her standing their.
Antara(in a warning tone):- "kiya chahtay ho tum?? Kiun bolaya tha tumne meray papa ko?? Haan bolo??"
Raghu was lost in her. He was seeing her so close for the first time.
Suddenly MachMach came and saw antara their.
MachMach:- "ay tu yahan kia kar rahi hai??"
Raghu:- "yeh ay kia hota hai.. Antara naam hai uska".
Antara saw him in his eyes.
Antara(pointing at MachMach):-"chup karo tum..(pointing towards raghu):-Aur tum kia samajhtay ho tum.. Meray papa ko tum bola kar dhamki do gay aur woh dar jayain gain.. Aur sharma ko paisay day dain gain han? Bhul hai tumhari!! Is shahar keh log sab aik jaise hain!!! Tum jaisay gunday hi aisa sab kartay hain jis ki wajah se log mumbai say dartay hain".
Raghu became feriece when he heard the sentence:- "tum jaisay gunday hi".
He grabbed antara's hand and piined her to the wall..
She was looking straight into his eyes with an angry look..
Antara was trying to free herself from raghu.
Antara:- "tumhara shahar sirf paisa laina aur dukh daina janta hai".
Raghu gets more angry listening to this.
They have a hateful eyelock. Raghu was lost looking in her hazels trying to sort 0ut what she was??
Their trance was broken when MachMach patted raghu's shoulder.
Raghu left antara's hand and gesture her to leave.
Antara left with an angry look.
MachMach:- "bhai woh auncle ka phone aya tha sharma ko message pohanch gaya woh araha hai kal sham mein milne".
Raghu:- "kal sham pakya, chotu, sameer sab ko bolna keh woh purani kapray ki factory kay aas pass ragein kal apun sharma ko batayi ga meray area mein rishwat magna toh door sochna bhi paap hai".

Raghu waved his hand in air and punched sharma hard.
He landed straight into antara's feet.
Raghu:- "abhi bhi teray ki 50,000/- chahayai kia??"
Antara eyes shot open how he came to know about it??
