"OUCH!!!!!" the sound quickly came out of antara's lips when she badly collided with the man coming from the opposite side. She was madly running through the crowds. It seemed like someone was chasing her. She just wanted to get away from that guy whose voice was ringing in her ear. She was terrified. So she didn't noticed the man coming from opposite side. "I'm so sorry...!! I just..." then she noticed the man standing in front of him holding a bag full of vegetables and looking to her with shocked look. "antara!!..." that person uttered in shock. "mama ji!!..." antara grabbed his hand helplessly. His eyes were full of fear. "antara what are you doing here?! When did you come?!!" govind, antara's mama asked in shock. "mama ji who.." antara couldn't finish her word and a stone came reached there flying and hit the glass of the garment shop just at their side. The broken piece of glasses spread all over and both of them covered their faces. When the situation seemed good, they both looked back where the fights between two parties had become worse. "antara, lets get out from here first. Otherwise anything could happen.." govind said and antara nodded in tensed expression. Govind and antara took a narrow lane and they came near their house. Saroj was surprised as she opened the door and found govind and antara coming inside together. "arey aap?!! Aur antara tu..." she was hell shocked finding her in that state. "mumy..." antara rushed and hugged saroj tightly. She was still shaking in fear. the sound of broken glasses, scream of peoples and mostly, his deep manly voice ringing in her ears. She was shaking badly, "antara what happened to you?! why are you shaking?!!" saroj hugged her back to comfort her. "judt don't ask saroj, don't you know what is happening outside!!" govind answered in angry irritated voice looking at the outside through window. "now I just wanted to find a place soon where we could live happily and without this daily drama. You know saroj she got among those ruffians, it's good that I found her on the way. Otherwise I don't know what will happen to her!" govind said in low voice. "what?!! Antara you ok na?! did u get hurt?!" saroj asked worriedly. Antara was stable than before. She broke the hug and held saroj's hand. "no mumy I am ok!!" she answered slowly. "thank god!!.." saroj said. Suddenly she remembered one thing and she asked, "antara, where is your luggage?!" . antara jerked up. "my bag!!" she looked around her and suddenly she remembered that she forgot her bag in in that taxi. "oh no!!" she mumbled and blood dropped from her face. Before she could react anymore someone knocked the door so heavily that all of them jerked up. Another heavy knock on door reached to them. Antara was sensing something wrong and she looked at saroj with worried eyes. "Wait! I am opening the door!" govind said and went towards the door. He hesitated for a while and then opened the door. Two men were standing at outside. Antara's eyes became wide as she recognized those two. They were among the ruffians who were fighting at the entrance of basti. "mumy ji they are..." antara was going to tell something in worried voice, "shhh!! Not now!!" saroj indicated her to stay quite. "arey tumlog yahan!!.." govind was quite worried finding them at his door. "raghu bhai ne bheje hain..." one man answered. Raghubhai!! Again that guy!! Antara felt her nerves were failing. She had already understood that the guy raghu might have so many influences in this area. "kyun?!!... Humne to iss mahine ka hafta de diya, aur... pichle mahine ka bhi paisa baki nahi hain...!!!" there was hidden fear and worry in his voice. "arey govind bhai daro mat!!..." other man said in assuring voice, "asalmein wo..." He suddenly dragged a trolly bag and a purse from his back. "bhai ne kaha ye aap ke ghar pauchaneka... wo madam gari mein chor ayi...!!!" he explained. Antara's eyes lightened up as she saw those bags. She rushed towards the door and took the bag from them. "madam, bhai ne kaha sab ek baar check kar lene ko... sab barobar hain na? nahi toh abhi bata ne ka.." the first man said. Antara had all ready took a quick glance inside the bag and purse. Everything looked all right. "thank you!!..." antara said in a low yet gr8full tone. "not mention madam!! Waisey bhi thank u apne ko nahin raghu bhai ko bolne ka... aap kahe toh hum aap ka thank u untak bhej de?!" the man said giving a toothy smile. antara didn't answered and just lowered her gaze. "ho gaya na?!! ab plzz jao... aur haan sukrya..." govind said in almost pleading tone. Both of them get away. Govind closed the door. "thank god that we get back those bags. Otherwise we don't know where we have to rush for them." Saroj said in a relieved voice, "come on antara. Go inside and get freshen up. U must be tired." Saroj said. "wait mumy ji, before that I want to get answers of my few questions." Antara said . Saroj got worried looking at the hard and determined look in her eyes. She knew that it might come. "what do you want to know?" saroj asked.
"haan bhai apun ne bag bhej diya govind ji ke ghar mein!! Ekdum madam ke hathon mein de diye!!" the man who was just in govind's house said looking towards raghu. He was seating on the bench of a tea stall and sipping the cutting tea. "sabash pakiya!! Kya kaha usne.. bole to sab borobar hain na?!" raghu asked. "haan bhai sab ekdum fit hain. Aur haan us madam ne thank u bola tha..." pakiya said. A mild smile spread on raghu's face. "aisa kaha kya usne?!!" he asked with a glint of excitement in his voice. "haan bhai... barobar yahin kaha..." pakiya said. "thik hain ab ja tu..." raghu said. "thik hain bhai Pakiya went away. Mach mach was seating just at his side and noticing him. His mild happy smile and glowing eyes were still intact to his face. He seemed lost in some deep and amazing thoughts. "bhai subah se dekh raha hoon tere thobre ki bulb ka power fifty se barke achanak hundred ho gaya... akhir kya huya?! Un shetty ke gundo ko pitke kya current kuch jyada bar gaya?" mach mach asked. "tu apni dimag ki batti thora kam jalaya kar... aur chaien maar!!" raaghu said looking towards him. "arey bhai tu bhi na... waisey kaun si madam ki zikar kar raha tha pakiya?!" mach mach asked. "arey wo anta..." before raghu could finish bantiya, their servant come there and informed them that DM was calling them. So they had to stop the discussion and went to naik sadan. The biggest haveli situated at the center of naik basti! Daya mai's resident!
"I am sorry mama ji but I can't live here." Antara said with a low voice. "what?!!" saroj spoke out in shock. "yes mami! After knowing all these facts I can't live here!" antara said. "but why?!" mami asked her in confused tone. "why???!!! Still u are asking me mumy?! Why didn't you tell me that your new house is sitiated at one of the most red alerted area of Mumbai city. naik basti!! The residence of daya mai whose name was enlisted in the police record as one of the most wanted criminals of these country?!!" antara asked in angry voice. "antara shhh... pls don't ever say those words. Even walls can hear our words. No one dared to say anything against daya mai. Otherwise u can get punishment for ur work. In this place, dm even owns your each and every single breath you are taking" Saroj said. "that's the thing mumy. I can't live a life where I can't even have the freedom to take my breath. No mumy, I can't live under the shade of a criminal!!" antara said stubbornly. "antara!! Stop it now, otherwise.." govind's voice raised. "hey pls don't get angry on her words. She is new here!! So she doesn't know the facts well. I am sure she will understand slowly." Saroj said to controle the situation. "saroj tell her that even we don't want to live in this place. But when u don't have a single place to live then what u will do?! Finding for a suitable place or griping the first offer u get. Antara may be this city is so huge. But still everyday wwe have to struggle for everything. For livelihood, for money, for a living place, for each and everything!! Here you have to compromise with the situation!!" govind said. "never compromise with the wrong even u are in gratest danger. U taught me when I was young and today u have forgotten ur own lesson." Antara said firmly looking towards govind. "time changes everyone and everything antara. When u have to face the real world only one motto u have to follow. That's survival!! Anyhow!!! at any coast, even ceiling your morals and values." Govind said with a sigh. Antara couldn't answer him back. His word seemed so meaningfull. "fine!! If u still don't want to live hear I won't stop you. but please think again. just for once, consider my words and then take your decision." Govind said and went inside. Saroj came near antara. "mumy, I really can't live here. I can't!! I know mama ji's words are true. But I can't abandon my self respect at any coast!! Because that's the thing papa taught me and it connects me wwith him..." antara said in almost teary eyes. "antara ok ok, please be quite now." Saroj said to console her, "but just think that where you will live after living this place. There is no other relatives in Mumbai!" saroj said. "mumy I will stay in any hostel or mesh. I have all ready applied. But I will get permission after a month." Antara informed. "hostel!! No way! Antara don't you know that those hostels are not safe place for you!!" saroj said. "safer than this basti where u have to live surrounded by all those antisocial peoples." Antara said. "ok ok antara. But for this one month please live here and I promise that you won't face any other problem. Now take some rest, wwe have to go to naik sadan at evening!!" saroj said. "what?!! Naik sadan, u mean daya mai's haveli?" antara asked in shock. "yes, today is daya mai's b'day!! So the hole basti is invited." Saroj said. "what?! Now I have to go to attend that criminal's b'day?! No way mumy!! And also they invited you. not me!" antara said. "antara please don't be stubborn. It can create problem for your mama if we all didn't went there. it's not about you or us. From the time u have stepped in naik basti u have became the part of her residence. Also I think mai has get the news about your arrival. their networks are very strong!! So, if in this situation if you don't go u can understand the air may get heated up!!" saroj made her understood. Antara lowered her gaze and let out a sigh. "ok mumy I will go for u and mama ji. But promise me that u won't be there longer." Antara demanded. "okk antara... now go.." saroj assured. Antara get inside the room taking her bag. She was in deep thought.
