Dear Sandhya Ji,

When I saw you in the wedding dress,

I thought you must be a princess.

I loved those two beautiful eyes,

Which are equal to paradise.

I always wanted you to hear

What I say, through your ears.

You are a beautiful art

That can steal my heart.

When I knew that you didn't like me

I wanted to go and sink, into the sea.

I supported you through thick and thin

Because you tolerated my kith and kin.

Later, I saw the divorce notice

Which broke my heart into pieces.

So I wanted you to leave.

With the few memories, I could live.

Then I saw the respect for me, in you,

That was enough for me to live with you.

When I came to know what you feel

About me, I've fallen head over heels.

You made me win World's top cook' trophy

I promised to keep you always happy.

The day you told me about your dream,

I made it OUR dream.

We made others purify their spectacles

About women, by crossing the obstacles.

With your talent and bright vision,

You became the pride of our nation.

We took our love to the next stage

Which will last in our heart for ages.

Ved, Vansh, Kanak, these three

Are the fruits of our love tree.

I'll be there with you in light and dark

Without looking at the persons who bark

Diya aur Baati hum is a love saga, the story of a couple Suraj and Sandhya Suraj a confectioner by profession is destined to marry an IPS aspirant, Sandhya Two completely opposite people unaware of the fact that they are meant to beenter the wedlock, and from there starts the journey of diya and baati
Suraj is waiting for his bride while she elopes only to make bhabho challenge her neighbours that she will bring a bride for her son within 15 days, Sandhya who is yetto come out of the shock of loosing her parents is further burdened with the marriage proposalas her brother is desperate to shift to US and his sister is the only hinderence for which he wants to marry her off and get releived from his brotherly responsiblities
Sandhya under immense pressure agrees to marry Suraj. while Suraj is dreaming of his would be wife Suraj and Sandhya get married, Suraj gets to know that Sandhya is not happy with this marriageUnable to reveal this to his family one side and unable to find a solution to this problemhe makes it easy for all the challenges that his new bride facesFrom teaching her making a feast to stand by her whenever she needed motivationShe is shattered when she comes to know he is not that educated, but slowly gets attracted for his kind and good behaviour
Her courage and determination to stand by truth even it would mean further trouble for herimpressed him, and he made sure she doesnt have to fight alone.After coming to know that her only dream was to become an IPS officerhe fights all odds, goes against his family , only to support her who is solely dependent on him.He stands by her, and encourages whenever she felt low,he makes her dream his own, and never gives up She makes it one day and he feels proud to be called IPS Sadhya Rathi's husband
Sandhya who is bound by her family values and upbringing , chooses to stay with Suraj even after perpetual insults . She accepts every challengethrown to her without expecting suraj's support, but little did she know that he was there to shield her before she had to face it. When such a husband himself wants her out of his life, she is devastated , yet continues with her wifey duties only to know that he did all that to make it easy for her, to take the blame on himself for the seperation and save her from the wrath of the society, and this is where she starts respecting him further.With his talented getting wasted in a tiny sweet shop , she decides to support him to take part in WTC strengthens his weekness, motivates him to overcome his fears
They got to know about each other in maasa's village, discovered love in Singaporeand became true soulmates in course of time.

It is dubbed in Telugu on MAA TV as Eetharam Illalu. In the Tamil it airs under the title, En Kanavan En Thozhan on Star Vijay. Internationally it airs in Sri Lankadubbed into Sinhala as Swapna on Sirasa TV and in Vietnam dubbed in Vietnamese as V ti l cnh st on VTVCab 5 Echannel and in Bulgaria as well.

Remakes

It was remade in other languages throughout India including a Marathi remake entitled Mansicha Chitrakaar To on Star Pravah, in Malayalam asParasparam on Asianet, in Bengali as Tomay Amay Mile on Star Jalsha and in Kannada as Akashadeepa on Asianet Suvarna. However it stopped in Kannada and Marathi languages after several episodes.
