Please note that Scotland is a country that is part of the United Kingdom and covers the northern third of the island of Great Britain (it is the coldest part of GB & have the most snow).

Scotland Yard
Scotland Yard (officially New Scotland Yard) is a metonym for the headquarters of the Metropolitan Police Service, the territorial police force responsible for policing most of London.
The name derives from the location of the original Metropolitan Police headquarters at 4 Whitehall Place, which had a rear entrance on a street called Great Scotland Yard.The Scotland Yard entrance became the public entrance to the police station, and over time the street and the Metropolitan Police became synonymous. The New York Times wrote in 1964 that just as Wall Street gave its name to New York's financial district, Scotland Yard became the name for police activity in London.
Scotland Yard Crime Training Academy
The Crime Academy was established by the Metropolitan Police Service in 2003 following the amalgamation of the Detective Training School, the Scientific Support College and the Analyst Training Unit. The origins of detective training at Hendon (part of London) go back to 1935 and we have therefore inherited a rich legacy of excellence in training those in investigative roles of which we are justifiably proud and determined to build upon.
We are now considered to be one of the foremost training establishments for detectives, forensic practioners, crime analysts and those in investigative roles. Our standing as a provider of quality training is reflected in our having been awarded the coveted 'Skillsmark' by Skills for Justice.
Whilst established to primarily provide training for Metropolitan Police personnel in London we take pride in having attracted students from several UK and overseas police forces as well as other law enforcement agencies.
