Chapter 2
The sun slowly set as the plane landed in Mumbai, as the crowd rushed of the plane to meet with family and friends shilpa took her time in moving through the aircraft dreading the moments which lay ahead of her. Even though she tried her best to slow down time before she knew it customs was over and she was on her way down the elevator to meet and greet her new life which had decided to begin in a place which she never even dreamed of seeing again. Mumbai's crowd wrapped around her as she made her way out of airport towards her friend standing just a few feet away holding a board with her name written on it, restlessly searching for her in the crowd wondering whether she changed her mind or was willing to come back to this city which symbolized pain for her.
Shilpa made her way towards sid waiting to see the smile creep into his eyes as he laid them up on her. Sid saw his beloved friend in the crowd and was so happy that he jumped over the restriction bar and ran to her to wrap her in his deepest hug. She had changed so much but to him she was still his old shilpa, the shilpa who taught him that to love is to sacrifice, who taught him how to live even after so much pain, who listened to his stupid jokes and found them funny even if they weren't.
Shilpa struggled to breathe under sid crushing arms bu at the same time she was happy to be in familiar arms, to be held by someone again, to feel love again even if it wasn't the type she craved. They walked towars the car with lots of laughter and tears and hugs but both stayed away from the one topic which could break them.
As the weaved through traffic sid said 'Dr shanshank is looking forward to meeting you again, he never stops talking about you, how when you were little you used to the naughtiest out of the three sisters that is before you were taken away from ur family'
Shilpa was surprised that papa still remembered her mischiefs and he still remembered her very well even if they only spent a few moments together before her so called mother kidnapped her from her true family. As if reading her mind sid said ' he is ur father and a father remembers everything about his kids maybe even more than a mother''
Shilpa smile at the thought in silence than she whispered 'thankyou' not knowing whether sid would understand the reason for her gratitude wat he did for her was something that no one in her life had ever done for her, he revealed a truth that was buried for so long but who was she kidding sid understood her more than many others as he just smiled and said 'no thank you or sorry between friends'.
Shilpa stopped paying attention to the sceneries around her and before she knew it she was at the very same hospital where everything began and ended too. Sid stepped out of the car and oped the door for a very confused shilpa seeing this he said 'dr. shashank wanted to see u as soon as you landed that's why I brought u here rather than letting u freshen up first'come on lets get inside' stepping out of the car shilpa's heart started to race and she was sure it was because of a certain senior doctor who worked here but setting those thoughts aside she focused on seeing her father after so long slightly scared but still exited by the thought she grabbed hold of sid's arm most probably cutting of circulation but sid didn't complain but just placed his warm palms over hers and guided her towards the hospital.
They both reached the doorway and stepped inside with the welcoming of rain outside and somewhere on the other side of the hospital a senior docter's eyes shot up from his work feeling a jolt of electricity run through his veins as if something he lost has come bac for him'..
Sid and shilpa made their way through the hospital hand in hand registering a lot of stares, some surprised, some doubtful, some jealous to see a woman with their beloved dr. sid. Ignoring all of these looks the two made their way to dr. shashanks room opening the doors with a creak to reveal a very weak man struggling to regain his youth.
Shilpa broke at this sight of her father and ran to him hugging him and weeping for him, shashank held his youngest daughter with all the love he could muster calming her and whispering to her how much he loves her and missed her' hearing her fathers words she sits up and wipes her tears and puts on a brave face to prove her father she will not break and she with make him better quickly standing up she rushes to his charts and starts asking sid so many question about his health that shashank starts to laugh at which shlpa retorts 'wat are u laughing at papa this is not a laughing matter u are not reacting well to ur medication and I am not impressed with the way ur taking care of urself ur not a child papa u hv to better than this'.' Her words die down as both of the men in the room start laughing uncontrollably and slowly she begins to relies how much of a kid she was being herself and starts to laugh too, it felt so good to laugh again she felt like life was coming into her again when her father said 'now that ur here I don't think I will need a better medication' at which she smiled and went near him and sat there talking about so many things which made little or no sense but that moment was precious to both of them and also to the person watching them sid felt like shilpa was finally living again as he saw a smile on her face that was missing for so many months.
