I Hope "Z" Does'nt Come in this FF's Coz I Can't Handle him.

Ridzy's Flashback begins, she is transported back to 2 years earlier:

It was 11pm at night, the roads were abandoned, or so it seemed, everything looked sinister on such dark isolated paths. Ridzy glanced outside of the car window only to be greeted with darkness, "how can my parents possibly enjoy driving at night?" she thought to herself solemnly. She herself hated the night time, everything seemed so ominous and eerie! But for some unfathomable reason her parents loved the dark hours! They were on their way to visit her mother's best friend Kirti, or Aunty Kirti as Ridzy was required to call her. Apparently aunty had come down with an illness and was in need of her friend. As soon as her mother (Padma Gupta) had heard of her comrades ailment, she had insisted to both her husband and Ridzy that they set off to see Kirti immediately. Ridzy's father (Shashank Gupta) was hesitant at first but upon seeing his wife's distressed features, decided that It was best to abide by her wish.

As Shashank continued to drive steadily along the derelict road, he mused aloud, "Padma, next time we really should wait until daylight to travel to Kirti's after all she lives smack bang in the middle of nowhere! And the roads to her house are hardly visible! There is barely any light to guide us there, save for that omitting off our car! Though thankfully the night is clear and the stars are beautiful, at least that is an upside" Padma glanced towards her husband, reached out and squeezed his hand affectionately, "thank you Shashank, for driving me at this time of hour, you know how important Kirti is to me, had it not been for her, you and I would never have met"

Ridzy's ears piqued at this sudden interesting topic, she had always pondered how her parents had met but had never been courageous enough to ask. Leaning forward she asked her mother, "How did you and dad meet mum?" her mother looked back and smiled, a slight blush creeping to her normally pale features, quietly she replied, "Kirti was always a huge flirt back in high school, she was never short of having a guy on her arm, always one who was desired by all males of our school faculty! I was always the shy sidekick, I never really consorted much with men, I never found them worth my time, and those of our school were always too immature or childish to even have a decent conversation with! One starry night, much like tonight itself, Kirti sent me a text message asking me to meet her by Caver's Lake, a beautiful lake in our home town that was renowned for its magnificent, romantic aura. After I reached the designated spot I kept my eyes peeled for Kirti, but as I waited and glanced around I realized she was not there! I was furious she had asked me to make a trek all the way there simply as a prank!

"I was sat on one of the benches wondering how I could have fallen for such an insolent trick, when a man, 2 or so years older than sat down beside me, I turned to speculate the stranger, and was taken aback by how handsome he was, I was also shocked to see he was smiling at me! He presented me with a rose, and said, "Padma Bhansal right? Hello I am Shashank Gupta, Kirti has told me much about you, and I have seen you at my cousin's party that you attended with Kirti, I had wanted to speak to you that night itself but never had the nerve till tonight!" as I sat shocked by his speech, I was suddenly cast back to a few months ago, me and Kirti had gone to our classmate Jaan's birthday party, as I delved deeper into my memory I vaguely remembered Jaan introducing both me and Kirti to her cousin Shashank, at first I had assumed he was like all the other guys at our school but on closer glance he was merely a solemn, sweet guy, humorous and very kind, I had taken an instant shine to him, but never felt brave that night to actually speak to him, and yet now here I was sat on a bench with him!

"I took the rose he had in his outstretched hand, and asked him suspiciously, "Did Kirti send you here? And if so, why?" he smiled shyly and replied "yes she did and in all honesty it's because she was trying to do me a favour, ever since that night I saw you at Jaan's party, I have been unable to stop thinking about you! It was crazy because I did not even know you! But somehow I knew that you were unlike the other girls. You were like a fairytale princess dressed in your peacock coloured salwar kameez that night, and I guess Jaan had figured I liked you and had told Kirti, because Kirti instantly told me to come to this lake, take a rose with me and be prepared to meet you, I was terrified of coming and nearly backed out several times, but there was something in my gut that told me that I simply had to meet you tonight, you must think I am crazy!" as I stared at him bewildered, I found myself smiling, "no you are not crazy Shashank, in fact I find it rather sweet that you came, truth be told there is something in you that also interests me, but I've yet to put my finger on it! And thank you very much for this rose, it is beautiful"

"A sudden gust of wind blew a lock of my hair into my face, Shashank reached out and brushed the stray hair into place, as he did so ridzy, a single shiver of pleasure ran through me, I was in shock, I had never experienced such a feeling, instantly my heart rate had increased! He leaned in and whispered, "yes the rose is beautiful, but not as beautiful as you" after that we went to dinner and instantly clicked, and from that night on we both somehow knew that we would fall in love, and I have always been grateful to Kirti for sending me that text message, as I said, had it not been for her ridzy, I would never have met your father!"

As ridzy sat back in her seat, she smiled a broad smile, and exclaimed "now I understand why you both love the night time so much, it's because you both met and started the journey of love during a starry night like this!" Padma turned round with a bright smile on her face, and Shashank laughed whole-heartedly, they both replied, "yes that is exactly why we love the night time!" all thee chuckled happily.

Naturally during a sweet family moment, everything had to turn upside down! Just as Shashank made a left turn almost nearing towards Aunty's house, a malicious driver in a van came speeding right towards their car at an alarming speed! Shashank tried to swerve out of the way, but the timing was unfortunate, and both cars collided recklessly! Ridzy tried to scream but her head knocked against the door beside her seat and sent her into a state of pitch blackness.

When ridzy finally regained consciousness, she had a splintering headache, she was surrounded by white! And realised she was in a hospital bed, at first she struggled to comprehend what she was doing in hospital, then the memory of the accident came back to her in a flash, "oh no! Mum! Dad!" she hurtled from her bed, breaking free of the tube that was attached to her arm, she nearly crashed into the doctor! She looked tired, and said heavily, "I am sorry dear but you must take rest, you cannot be roaming around like this!" Ridzy replied in a panic-stricken tone, "but my parents? Are they okay? their names are Shashank and Padma Gupta, please tell me they are okay!" the doctor was about to reply when Ridzy's father came into view, he ran towards ridzy and hugged her tight, ridzy returned the hug grateful that her father was okay, she saw a huge stitched gash on his head where it must have smashed into the glass form the accident, but other than that he seemed fine. Ridzy looked at her father, he looked like he had been crying, ridzy's heart sank, she spoke in a fearful voice, "Dad, Hows Mum? Where is she?" her dad looked forlorn and began shedding silent tears, whilst holding onto her tightly, he replied "Ridzy mere bachee I am sorry but your mother-" ridzy cut her father off mid sentence with a shriek "NO! No it cant be, mum cant just leave, no dad please do not lie to me, this is a cruel joke!" she tried to break free of her fathers grasp but was unable to, she lacked the strength! Her father gripped her tighter "Ridzy listen to me! Your mother is no more, the collision of the accident was so brutal, she went straight through the windscreen, her seat belt was unreliable and had come loose as soon as that car crashed into us, I wish it were not true my darling but it is" with that he let go of ridzy and burst out crying.

Ridzy backed away from her sobbing father and ran, to each room in frantic search of her mother. There is no way she could be dead! It seemed only moments ago she had been smiling at ridzy telling her of how she had met her father, there was no possibility that she could now suddenly be gone from this earth! As she ran from room to room desperately hunting for her mother, she was suddenly stopped in her tracks! There lying on one of hospital beds was her mother, ridzy ran to her in relief, but upon reaching the bed she saw the undeniable truth, her mother's body and face was covered in stains of blood (the doctors must have washed away as much of it as they could) and as ridzy glanced closer she realized her mother was lying there motionless. There was no life in her. She. Was. Dead.

As this horrific realisation sunk in, ridzy grabbed a hold of her deceased mother, and screamed a blood-curdling howl of pain, " NOOOO! MUM WAKE UP, PLEASE WAKE UP, YOU CANT LEAVE ME AND DAD! YOU SIMPLY CANT! PLEASE MUM WAKE UP! I NEED MY MOTHER! PLEASE! She slumped herself over her dead mother, and howled like a food deprived animal, crying like there was no tomorrow. As she grieved for her mother she whispered a last plea, "mum I love you, please come back I beg you." and then she passed out......

(Flashback ends)

Back in present time:

As ridzy sat and silently mourned, letting the rain soak her, she gazed at the lake in front of her and watched as the drops of rain created ripples as they splashed down. Suddenly she started shaking from the tears that escaped her. As she looked up at the stars above her, she said aloud, "I hope you can see me mum, and know that I miss you dearly and love you." with that she continued to bawl like a neglected baby.

Sid's POV:

Whilst getting changed, sid thought back to the events of the evening and once again cursed ridzy! Had it not been for her stupidity their team would have won! He joined Jatin and Millie by their cabin window, the two of them had been getting very friendly since being put on the same team, sid only guessed it were a matter of time before they officially started dating. As he peered out the window he saw ridzy sat by the lake, almost oblivious to the hammering rain which was surely drenching her! He shook his head in confusion and said to both Jatin and Millie, "Someone should go out there and tell her to come inside where its actually warm! She'll catch pneumonia at the rate she's going!"

Jatin looked at sid uncomfortably, he was a tall, slender young man, with great build and cheery smile, one which girls are always falling head over heels for! He continued to look at sid then finally said, "I think it's best to leave her be at the minute, after all tonight must be hard enough for her without us being interfering" Sid looked sceptically at his team mate, "what you mean because of our loss? Yeah well she should feel guilty, it's because of her we lost our first assignment!" Millie glared at sid and said coldly "Sid, Ridzy has a very different loss to be grieving for right now, and it has no such thing to do with today's events!" with that she stormed off to her bed. Sid looked puzzled and questioned Jatin, "what is she on about dude?" Jatin cleared his throat and replied sadly, "On this night exactly 2 years ago, ridzy's mum died in a car crash, both ridzy and her dad survived, but sadly the collision killed her mother" having answered Sid's query, Jatin also sloped off to his bed.

For a few moment's sid stared out of the window at ridzy's inundated, slumped figure in stunned silence. How could he have been so cruel to her? He should never have been so mean during their task, not if she was dealing with the anniversary of her mum's death! He cursed himself for his foolishness! Granted he did not know of the situation, but that was never an excuse to be outright mean to someone ever. Suddenly he empathized with ridzy, after all he knew all too well what it was like losing a parent, his own father had been killed in a bomb blast 8 years ago at his office, though sid was quite young at the time, he still missed his father dearly even today.

Without thinking to grab a shirt, he rushed out of the cabin in only his vest and track suit trousers, thrusting himself into the vicious downpour of rain! He determinedly made his way over to where ridzy was sat, perched himself on the log beside her and touching her shoulder lightly with is hand he said, "I'm sorry, I know that sounds odd coming from me, but honestly I am sorry, not just for the way I behaved with you earlier, but for your loss, trust me I understand what it's like. I too lost my dad several years back, I was never able to open up to anyone about it, partly because I was so young I did not understand death, but also because I felt like no-one could possibly comprehend what I was going through, but ridzy I do not want you feeling like this, okay I know we haven't exactly been friends, but I do understand the pain you are feeling, please do not consider yourself alone, I am here if you need any support" sid himself had not known where this speech had come from, he had no intention of ever telling anyone about how he felt regarding his father's death, yet here he was spilling his heart out to the least person he ever expected to confide in!

Ridzy lifted her head and looked at sid, equally shocked by his sudden outburst, she never thought that he was capable of being so sincere, let alone nice and offering her his help! This time when they locked gazes it was not of hate or anger, it was out of empathy, understanding and a shared knowledge of the pain they both harboured. Unable to control the affliction or sorrow any longer, she collapsed into sid and sobbed to her heart's content. Sid was baffled, he was unsure of what to do, but as he felt the haggard cries and shakes from ridzy increase, he wrapped his arms around her in comfort and let her cry.

When his dad had died all he had wanted was for someone to hold him like this and simply let him cry, but no-one had been there. His mother had passed away whilst giving birth to sid, so he had never known her, he was a single parent child, and had been solely raised by his father till the bomb blast. All he wanted back then was for someone to understand and comfort him, but he had been alone and had no-one. But as he let Ridzy cry, he became resolute, "I won't let her feel alone like I did, No-One should ever have to feel like that" he moved ridzy slightly so that she was facing him, he cupped her face in his hands and wiped her tears then said, "I am here ridzy, if you need me, I am here" she looked at him with a gratified expression and uttered, "Thank you sid, you have no idea how much that means right now" with that she again started crying as they both became immersed by the thundering rain that attacked them. Sid was unable to see her pain, so he hugged her to him gently and let her cry out the inexplicable hurt of losing a loved one.
