3rd post on teh same topic ... eek!!!!
No offense ... loved reading every word - you've a way with words ...
Exactly what I felt - too over analyzed, this epi was, I thought.
I think ppl are reacting to Sid's reaction - not to what was done to him.
In another post I wrote (I'm summarizing, too lazy to cut and paste) -
PPL would be reacting very differently had we seen one of the following reactions from Sid:
1 - He walks into a restroom and sees his face - screams real loud and comically - runs out and yells his head off (again, half comically half seriously) at the trio ... we would've laughed/smirked with him, and shrugged it off ...
2 - Ridzi cleaning his face with her dupatta - we would've gone googoo gaagaa over that and forgotten the whole act behind it.
3 - If folks started laughing at him, and he eventually found out and got real angry at A and the gang ... we would've gotten angry at the trio too, but that would've been it.
It becomes a matter of hurt because we saw tears in his eyes, and remorse on the trio's face ... (btw, have to say, the trio is real corny now).
So - folks need to stop generalizing and over analyzing this scene. It was needed - I think the dynamics are going to change now. It's fine, it's a prank, he's a big kid and he'll get over it.
He'll learn some lessons from this, and so will A and the trio.
Also, I'm guessing this is a way to get SR closer, to bring ArSh closer, and to either strengthen or slacken the SidMaan bonding a bit ...
all in all - you said it well. People need to analyze their reactions more than those of fictional characters. Everyone's reacting to Sid's tears and the trio's actions ... but I ask you this -
A did this EXACT deed to Ridzi (SA was playing R then) ... and the entire gang laughed at her ... YET it was considered a really really cute scene then. All because it was portrayed as a light hearted, comical scene, with romance in the air ...
