It most certainly is. Not just Ridhima's character but every other character on the show is lost too. And the reason they are lost is because all the chracterizations are incomplete. An individual is always multi faceted, a personality has many hues, a person has many relationships and all of those together make a character. However DMG has decided that they just need to focus on a single aspect of each character,
So currently they are focussed on -
R is A's love interest and her job on the show is to make A's life oscillate between hell and heaven.
A is stuck with a "I am not serious about anything in life" attitude and all I do all day is try to make my GF happy.
Atul is stuck mouthing bathroom jokes, talking to his plants and being champu
Shub is stuck with the thought "I am a senior doctor". Apparently the great surgeon can no longer carry more than that thought in his head.
Kirti is stuck between oscillating as hitler or sexy siren.. depending on which side of the bed she got off that morning.
etc etc etc
Even if the show wants to focus on just the "dill mill gayye" aspect, they have to understand that to even make the love lives interesting it is necessary to show a wholesome character... because even our love lives and how we act in them are a reflection of everything else that goes on in our lives.
When the show started out they paid attention to details. There were strokes, some bold some subtle, but together they painted a picture. The nuances are all gone now -
Where is the R who was health conscious enough to jog every morning?
Where is the R that loved spending time with her dad.... now she has a mom and there is no realtionship?
where is the rivalry between the sisters?
And the medical aspirations are of course completely missing.
Where is the A who coached young kids in BB?
Where is the A who was dead serious about his career, his reputation...even if he was not serious about anything else in life.
Where is the Atul who attended conferences on the environment, who stood outside the AIDS ward rembering his dead father?
It is bad enough that all the characters have become so monochormatic but R's case is worse because she comes across as a different shade in each episode. She was uncomfortable in the short dress on the jail date and kept asking A if she looked all right. Yet when she was wearing a swim suit she was completely non-chalant about it. She was ready to kiss him on the first BB date itself and then again after the first confession, yet now when she is sure and all, in the sonpur shack she is like talk to the hand mister! etc etc etc.
I no longer know what defines R, what are her defining traits and characteristics other than the great fact that she is in love. Everything about her is unpredictable and out of the blue..... Nothing ever suggests what has made her take a certain decision, or act in a certain way. I guess "she is in love" is supposed to explain everything.
Blah!
Sorry for the long rant... but this show has dissappointed me a lot.- i am too dissapointed. i liked your answers very much. good reply. 👏
Note - I would just like to say that the degenration of the show started way back.. somewhere around the kasauli days and has been going downhill since then. There is so much angst now becuse it has reached an unbearable point now. It has nothing to do with the actors ... its the story writers and creatives who are not doing their job.- i agree. it has nothing to do with actors. and one more thing to add, we cannot do anything except watching the show as it is(however bad it is) or stop watching the show
