You are allowed to say anything about characters, but you might want to tone down that language

Why? Going by the context of her post, it really does make sense. The only other explanation is that all the torture has severely messed up Jhanvi and now this is the result. But that's not even how they're showing it.

Why should bimbo be toned down, when Viraj can be called anything and everything. No one really complains. He's a negative character, so go right ahead.

So here within the context of what Aya wrote, what's so wrong about 'bimbo?'

It's an issue of language, not opinion. Nor is it an issue of positive vs negative characters.

Anybody can have negative opinions about anybody, but language that is sexually explicit isn't exactly condoned here. Words like bimbo, w h o r e, s l u t, prostitute, et al - naah ah! Read the Note right next to the Quick Reply box that you probably used in replying - I can assure you that that section didn't come from me.

I know that Viraj is called a rapist, but that falls more into the category of crimes, such as murder, robbery, et al. Had he not been guilty of rape, we'd have cracked down on those as well. Had Viraj been called a gigolo or anything like it, we wouldn't have allowed it. One is welcome to take a dim view of Jhanvi's/Sia's relationship w/ Raghav - no issues there, but we can't allow forum-wide rules to be violated.

Okay. I see. You were going by one meaning of the word, whereas that's not what Aya meant at all. Bimbo is used in our environment not in any sexual manner, but as a word for a dumb female. More like a dumb blonde.

In fact, I didn't even know 'bimbo' had another meaning to it till I googled it. I'm sure Aya didn't either. For us, the word is akin something more to a 'dumb blonde' type of meaning. That's how I've always known the word.

Thanks for the explanation. Now that it's clear why you objected to the word, it makes sense. Whereas before, it was a puzzle.

The correct word then is 'dumbo' (I'm not talking about the Disney elephant). Dumbo is what she was then referring to, whereas bimbo means all the things I pointed out above. Calling Jhanvi a dumbo is okay, bimbo is not.

Forget that I 'warned' her then, if that's what she meant. This is, however, the first time I'm hearing of this meaning.

I think this is just one of those things that vary according to one's surroundings. 😆

I'm sure many can back me up that for them they've always known the word to simply mean an airhead. Whereas there probably are others that can back you up that for them they've always known the word carried an outright sexual meaning.

There is no denying the history of the word, though. So you're ultimately right.

It's okay, Aya. I think if one reads your post with the above convo in mind, it's obvious what you meant. The other meaning doesn't even make sense within the context of what you wrote.

For many of us, that word has just come to mean airhead and we aren't even aware of the other meaning.
