>> Pros:
1) The Rejection
I am so relieved that she told him no rather than keep silent and allow others to force her life in a certain direction once again. This was her decision and I respect her for that. But my heart shattered at Raghav's reaction -- the shock was evident, but it seemed to have more to do with realization than astonishment at her rejection.
I don't think that Raghav had realized, until the point of her rejection, how much he really wanted to marry her, how much he actually loved her. It was like the realization of a loss [Sia] made him understand how deep his emotions ran for her and that was hard for him to handle. Did anyone else notice how his expression was thoughtful [as well as painful]? He was analyzing his own emotions as well as digesting the fact that Jahnvi had rejected him. He'd lost something even before he'd realized he wanted to have it. It doesn't make sense, because you can't lose something you never had.
But I don't know how else to explain it.
Note Raghav's emotional condition here, because it switches entirely from his emotional condition later -- which once again shows how brilliant Harshad is in his portrayal of R.
Have to say this...Jhanvi was simply rocking this epi overall. Starting with her refusal to leave and her decision to stay back and fight (though I'm really bummed about her saying she'll tell the truth and not doing it!) When she said main Iadungi, main sach kahoongi, I was like omg again?? She's said it so many times and not done anything about it that I got a little sick of her saying it and went all Doubting Thomas about it henceforth 😆
But her little step over here was bigger than Neil Armstrong's leap across the moon I say! Seriously, man. Tremendous respect. For telling Raghav where things stand, and for cutting the man some slack and not blaming him straightaway, and most of all...for caring.
And Raghav. My heart did twist quite a bit at the scene where he cries, and then pretends to laugh, and then weeps again...but honestly. The way he suddenly laughed when he heard her apologizing. How much willpower it must have taken to not think about himself as anyone else would have done in that state, and realise exactly how much the guilt and confusion must be eating away at her...and come up with something that would give her some solace in this Situation from Hell...
2) Raghav's solace is Krish
This was the most beautiful hug I've ever witnessed on TV, hands down. It was beautiful, and tragically so. I loved how Krish noticed the pain on Raghav's face, pulled him aside, and wrapped his small arms around his uncle -- trying to give him whatever comfort that he could. Raghav's embarassment was evident as much as his gratefulness. He needed Krish, needed the hug, but at the same time he felt embarrassed to need it.
He tried to brush it off. Failed.
It's interesting to see that no one, and I repeat no one, apart from Krish noticed the pain on Raghav's face, noticed that he was hurt. This shows exactly how alone Raghav really is -- that despite being surrounded by family, there wasn't a single person [aside from Krish] who could read him.
How sad is that?
To be so alone in a crowded place. And crowded by family nonetheless. Broke my heart.
I loved how they did this. I'm sure Krish didn't understand everything...but he's a smart, perceptive kid, and what he gets usually is the essence of what is happening around him. I'm glad the CVs haven't spoiled him at least!
3) The broken smile and the white lie
When he switched from tears to laughing, I cringed inward at how painful it sounded. The heart inside his chest? The broken pieces of that heart shuddered in his voice. I couldn't stand to watch Jahnvi just stand there, listening to his fake cheerfulness, noticing how he averted her eyes, and yet unable to read the pain so evident on his face.
God.
When she ran inside, his smile was crippled -- like buildings collapsing during a massive earthquake. He just shattered. I loved how he sat down in the mud, letting go. Hopefully, when he stands up again, he will be stronger than before.
This kinda reminded me of that scene in KKHH, where Kajol slowly realises that SRK's character isn't love with her. The way her smile fades away from her face...leaving behind a grimace that no one can really notice. I felt that in Raghav's smile today. The same attempt to hold on to something, to not let go of your composure when all you want to do is sit down and cry your heart out.
I loved the confusion and slight relief on her face. It mattered to her, that he wouldn't hate her. She was already on the road to self-blame when she saw his back facing her. When he told her he didn't want it either, she was happy he wasn't hurt by that rejection.
4) Gayatri warning V
I am so frigging happy that she warned him about pulling a stunt like that ever again. Oh, sure. I would've liked that she'd slapped him. But hey, we take what we can get.
I'm really glad Gayathri has some scruples regarding a man she barely knows, and that she isn't interested in being wrapped around ANY man's pinky finger. I love how at least two women in this house make sure he knows that they take kindly to any man fooling around with their lives. Because no matter how much he decorates what he is doing with 'winning her back with love and not force' 🤢 fact is, he is playing with their lives the way no one should, and it's as much 'love' as an extra-marital affair can be branded 'faithfulness' 😆
>> Cons:
1) Jag Suna Suna?
Um, what was with this song? First of all, the overall music editing sucked. Except for the one tune played when Raghav and Jahnvi were escorted back inside.
But couldn't they have chosen a more piano-type tune for Raghav's breakdown instead of a Bollywood song that flashed images of Om Shanti Om before my eyes? It just sounded too dancing tragically than guy-with-a-broken-heart-sitting-in-his-garden ish.
I like it when shows use their original tunes rather than Bollywood songs for their scenes. And emotional scenes are so much more powerful when uninterrupted, which brings me to point #2...
Frankly, I wish it were a lovely, sad-sounding instrumental theme playing. Jag Soona Soona Lagay was a little too much.
3) Jahnvi keeping silent [once AGAIN]
How could she not read Raghav's face? How could she not tell him the whole truth? Even after this humiliation -- doesn't he deserve to know?
What really irked me was how she vowed to tell him the truth, and blamed herself for not doing that earlier, and then forgot all about it! Why have her say all those big, brave dialogues if you're not going to allow her to live up to them, CVs???
