I've been meaning to ask this question for some time really. After having read quite a few posts on the forum i have been wondering Is it not ok for woman who feel vulnerable or physically threatened to get the help she desperately needs? Even if the person doing the ' helping ' is a man. Why is it such a huge deal. ?

Sometimes it's ok to ask to help when you need it. It doesn't make you weak, it makes you sensible, it makes you human.

Even i fail to understand what is the big deal? On one hand we want men and women to be equal on the other when a question of taking help from a man comes we make it such a big issue and differentiate ourselves!!!

You need help .. take it from whoever you can ... man or woman makes no difference!!!

maybe coz we have always been taught or seen in movies/shows or around us, that women need to always adjust, compromise, have patience and the ones who are strong, independent are termed as 'vamps'!

people like to see a woman crying, but tolerating every non-sense and our shows dignify such women, she is termed as the true woman, the right one and later on all the baddies get transformed...

dialogs like, 'is ghar mein tumhari doli aai hai, ab arthi hi jayegi', is still directly/indirectly shown to be right.. no matter what happens, so maybe it isn't easy for people to digest that someone takes a stand n decides not to be a part of this...

exactly...i agre wid uu...2 defend oneself nd protect oneself a human being has all d rights 2 seek help. no matter whether d person is a man or woman...the only thing matters is dat who fits in dat situation...
nd thus one a traumated person seeks help 4m a person who had been thru similar phase in his past, den nothing can be more intilligent dan that, as he will b able 2 show her d right direction wid d knowledge of his past experience...

I don't get what this hue and cry about why a man acting as Jhanvi's saviour is " unrealistic ".

There is nothing unrealistic about someone, or anyone quite frankly offering a helping hand to a woman who has been beaten, tortured and raped.
