But, I had this feeling that yes, Viraj had planned the whole thing and had set it up, but did not follow it through. Viraj, perhaps manipulated the situation so that Raghav would come just in the nick of time and save Tashu.

One thing I find highly puzzling is Viraj being shown as planning and plotting really horrific deeds but somehow just as it looks like the plan is about to succeed it is aborted by the arrival of Raghav or some other story element.
If Viraj had succeeded in his plans, there would have been a number of murders by now.
