Will DSJZ survive SP's Nayi Soch?

Hey guys!

Sorry if this is a depressing topic to make just after the first episode but I wanted to know people's opinions.

As we all know, the show has a controversial premise- female lead gets married to her father's friend and then has an affair with his nephew. I already saw some backlash against it on YT videos.

If the show was on Sony, I wouldn't be worried, but since it's on TRP craving Star Plus, I think I have good reason to ask this question. SP's 'Nayi Soch' of getting the numbers means it's ruthless with shows that don't perform (TRPs below 1.5).

Yes, the show airs after 10 pm is it enough to keep the ire of the public away from this show? Personally, I myself did not like the idea of Ahana-Anant 'cause I believe such couples have a huge power differential but they're adults, so it's not my place to stop them.

Will the audience be able to accept a faithful adaptation of Ask-I-Memnu?

Will SP be loyal to the parent show without introducing needless gimmicks to alter the storyline?

How will 'sensitive' topics like extramarital affairs, getting married to your father's friend be handled?

As much as I appreciate SP for giving different concepts a chance. . .I also know how they wouldn't mind pushing crap down our throats to gain TRPs. SP destroyed a beautiful show like JNDSD and then axed it, I see so many people still asking for Manmarziyan return, Dehleez was a show that stayed true to its roots till the end but but SP is SP it asked them to rush through cutting probably atleast six episodes of the 108 episodes series in the end.
The show's premise is itself controversial for Indian audience. I have personally talked to few of my friends and they said they were uncomfortable with the whole plot of girl falling for father's friend.

I think its enough to know that the audience reach for now atleast is restricted. SP has to exoect its TRPs accordingly. I am worried for the show's future. I hope it meets its end in a dignified way and doesn't have to be rushed.

After Amla I'm quite skeptical about this one. SP is ruthless and I highly doubt if the makers or creatives will be able to stick to the storyline as makers of Amla ruined the show even before SP decided to pull off the plug.

Sp is ruthless but I think they r not expecting big numbers from this,I think ratings around 1.5 will be enough and show is coming from big banner so it might survive like pow did with 0.5 rating but pow was preshooted.

Star plus alienate all it's series after a couple of weeks
I used to watch Everest then P.O.W. and Dahleez and Star Plus didn't promote them after a while...In fact both Dahleez and P.O.W. (One of the best shows ever shown on Indian TV in recent times according to me which had brilliant actors like Anurag Sinha) were finite series and still Star cut down their epis towards the end which was disheartening for the fans.

Star Plus also ruined Kya Qusoor Hai Amla Ka by pulling the plug on it before at that crucial point when the main plot was shaping up

I am very apprehensive when it comes to Star...They always bring interesting series but then ruin them by shutting them down sooner or by changing the tracks and by not promoting them at all after a while

This show has a bold , intriguing concept and I am not sure if Star will be able to handle

Even many viewers (some of my friends included) are not sure about this show..this is when they only know that Ahana will marry Anant unaware of the fact that if the makers follow Ask-I-Memnu then Ahana will fall in love with Rehan after marrying Anant which is even more bold and complicated for many viewers.

I am hoping against hope that Star will not change the original plot and will let this show run it's course.

Out of all the channels barring Sony, SP is probably the one which experiments a lot with new content but they don't back their shows. As soon as they get unsatisfactory numbers, they pull the plug.

As you guys have mentioned, this show comes with a 'handle with care' disclaimer. First of all, the audience may not accept Anant-Ahana. It would be better for the show to fly under the radar and not get too much attention 'cause if they get bouquets, they will get brickbats too.

I think there's a reason they haven't promoted the show with Rehan; the reason being that if Rehan was introduced in the promos, then there would be no shock value of Ahana-Anant being introduced as the forbidden couple.

If they decide to change the storyline, they may leave Ahana-Anant be and introduce a new love interest for Rehaan who might pine over Ahana for some time.

Let's see how they take it forward. I want it to be faithful to the original, 'cause we do not have such stories on Indian telly.

Honestly, it's about time all these GECs which take the plunge to experiment and do something different realise that the success of all the shows cannot be judged by the parameter of TRPs. Different types of content caters to the sensibilities of different kind of viewers.

I don't think shows like KQHAK or POW got ruined because they ended earlier. These were still beautiful and meaningful shows which left impact and will be remembered. As for DSJZ am sure the channel has it figured out that what kind of response a story of this kind may get. So am positive this show will be given a fair chance to survive and tell it's story.

They were beautiful shows indeed but it can't be denied that Star Plus did injustice to both

Kya Qusoor hai Amla ka' s story was reaching the main point...the point from where Amla and Abeer's journey would have begun...but everything was wrapped up in a hurry without doing proper justice to the show...so many points and incidents had to scrapped in order to wrap up the show...Amla would have first developed friendship with zabeer then would have fallen in love with him...it would have been a beautiful journey which was cut short with direct realisation of love...Abeer would have been shot by Dev , Abeer's dad would have been introduced , Abeer would have taken a step for Amala' s justice by getting himself arrested and many more...Farmagul had many such poignant and beautiful moments which never saw the light of the day when it can to Kya Qusoor only coz Star decided to pull the plug...this show deserved to run it's course and we fans who were eagerly waiting for these scenes were robbed off the opportunity to view them.

P.O.W. was never promoted , it's actors who are one of the finest actors didn't get a single nomination in Star awards and the show was shifted to at 11pm without any repeats...Star completely alienated this show...on top this had the audacity to claim that they regretted their decision to airing P.O.W. as it was an experiment which didn't work.

Recent series was Arambh which Star pulled off air in mere 20 odd epis.

Star is known for bringing in unique concepts and series and then ruining them.

I am hoping against hope that this time things will be different.

You have to keep in mind that this is a finite series which will last for 1 year however SP is known for axing shows after 3 months if they perform. Since it has a very famous actor in Sanjay Kapoor as a lead I really hope that SP doesn't do any injustice to him or the show. They also they have Vikram Bhatt as the producer. So axing the show so quickly will be ridiculous I hate how they did it to Alma, POW, Dahleez, EAAB and other shows.
