@ Sunrise:
Agree. Gul shows are very unreal in the way they portray the posh hero and the unpolished girl. We don't even know what the real "Point" of it all is? Is it just to humiliate the guy in society, that he has a wife who doesn't know English or doesn't understand the context of certain things, or acts over cute and naive when she is in her mid-twenties?
I have not seen the show you mention, but I agree, good writing and directing is what makes a show interesting to watch. Here characters are just "different" for the sake of being so. It's not always essential that a rich sophisticated guy has to end up with a girl from a backstreet or a backwater to have a "takkar" or whatever. Even I liked Rumya for the reason that their story was not based on physical attraction and neither were they from totally different backgrounds. They were in the same collage and Saumya is an upper-middle-class girl, not lower middle class. She speaks English and she is even had a job as a Radio show host. So I liked that she was not some character that had to depend on the hero to provide her with employment. I hope they show some emotional connect between Gauri and Om coz I don't want their story to be a totally superficial so- called "Takkar ki Ishqbazi".
@ Snowwhite:
I feel you mate. Ridz was the most confused and confusing character. She was bad, good, Selfish, selfless etc etc. They were in a long distance relationship, then they had been living in the same place in London etc etc. CV's totally butchered her character too and through her Om's character. I was so angry at how they handled her track. I liked her on some levels, but I never thought she was right for Om, coz their relationship had NO spark, no passion, and Om is SO intense. He needed someone who would stir his emotions and force him to accept her in his life. Make him want to commit coz he can't help himself. In short, I wanted someone who would make Om fall in love. Ridhimma was NOT that person. If she was, he would have married her by that point already. It was clear he was always hanging back because he was not sure of his feelings.
So I agree. If Ridhima was good or bad for Om is actually inconclusive, coz her character was a study in confusion in the first place.
