Hola guys!! Update time.But first of all I was contempting on changing the Title of the story as previous title suited only the os situation but now since this is a fledged fiction a new title was badly needed.So i decided to change it to Dauntless.I hope its fine.
*CHAPTER 3*
"How are you ?"
"Why so formal question ?"
Rudra questioned back ,raising an eyebrow at her.The sudden question made him feel uneasy about her upcoming questioning.
"Don't answer me with a question"
Priyanka scolded him , slapping his arm.That was a serious question.Whenever she looked at him, the pain buried beneath his eyes became so prominent that its impossible to ignore.He always try to hide it behind his silly jokes but when its just three of them,he looks exactly like the same broken guy who lived in darkness,the guy who longed to hold onto someone.He had absolutely no hope for even a tinge of light in his life.He lost his ray of light a long ago.Atleast he is now trying to find his missing pieces.
"Then don't ask obvious questions.You already know the answer and I'll never admit that answer.What's the point"
Rudra dejectedly said.His eyes weren't following his words.Admitting everything will bring too much memories back to the point where it would be impossible to burn them.He can't let them overtake his mind.He wants to find her ,not to drown in darkness once again.
"But-"
Priyanka started but Ranveer cut off her words
"That would be enough for today"
"Okay.Then ,I have to go and apparently welcome the new surgeon"
Rudra finished smoothly, trying to dodge Prinku's questions.A woeful look crossed his features,he couldn't meet their eyes.He solemnly held himself responsible for all that happened years ago.Ranveer's worry filled eyes met his accidently ,Rudra composed himself sorting his mind ,forcing it to move on a different path.Giving both of them a reassuring look he showed himself the door.
"And no funny business"
He sniggered at them through a serious expression
"Idiot"
Ranveer muttered, silently relieved .
"Why did you stopped me ?"
Priyanka sourly asked him.Her eyebrows furrowed in ,creating a tension between them.She was sick of them, Rudra won't tell anything ,Ranveer wouldn't help.She felt helpless and despondent.Times like this terribly remind her of Soumya.
"Can't you see he didn't wanted to talk about it.You should give it a rest"
Ranveer said with a taut expression.He didn't possibly wanted to hurt any of them.
"Easy for you to say when you know everything"
She bitterly murmered .Her eyes glistened, she was tired of their excuses.
"I don't even know why she left"
Ranveer tried to comfort her with words but she stood like rock and raised her hand at him to stop him from talking.
"Let me finish.You know out of all ,she was my best friend ,we were practically sisters.Do you know what I felt to see that suddenly my best friend disappeared.I felt betrayed,why couldn't she trust me.I even started doubting our friendship.No one would tell me What happened.Rudra was hell bent on destroying himself and you, huh, you wouldn't even talk to me.I was only one to be left out of the loop.Should I give it a rest ?"
Her voice cracked at the edge, she was hardly holding up her tears.A withering look spread out on her face veiled with peeved expressions.
Ranveer lightly pulled her to him by grabbing her arm.Her face rested on his chest,while he patted on her back.
"I'm so sorry.I can't possibly feel what you went through but don't ever doubt your friendship with her.Even if I want to i couldn't say more than that"
"Then help me find her.All Rudra ever says is try to track her location.We have nothing to track over.Promise me you will help"
Priyanka's muffled words came as she was still embracing him.Ranveer was yet again caught up in a ugly situation, whom to choose.Make a new promise and break a old promise or keep a friend's promise and break Prinku's heart.
"I cannot make that promise,you wouldn't want me to break her promise.But i can promise i'll be there with you in Every single step you take.I can promise that"
He cautiously said.Some say promises are meant to be broken but how can we trust a person if he breaks our promise.No one said about it.
She took out a small picture book that had locked up so many of her memories ,one can only imagine.
"I miss her "
Priyanka murmered wistfully looking at the pictures with funny captions that she now had memorised throughly.A blurred ,bad quality picture caught her attention,it was definitely taken by security camera which held the most precious moment of their lives.
"Watch where you step"
Priyanka sneered at her.She was already having a bad day and this person just added another thing.She inspected her shoes as the person stepped on them.
"I could say the same to you"
Soumya fired back with equal amount of bitterness in her voice.These kinds of Queen bee girls are good for nothing and Priyanka for her fell in that category instantly.
"Don't you know who am I?"
Priyanka questioned, she looked baffled by her reply.No one in all these years have talked back to her in that tone.They feared her.This academy was like a home for her ,she completed engineering degree here and now advanced hacking course.In all these years she has established an image that wouldn't be ruined by a newbie.Soumya on the other looked thoroughly at her,trying to see if she is an officer or what.But after taking a look at her 'Cadet' batch she was relieved.She didn't want to piss off another officer.
"Are you one of those wanna be girls,trying to be someone who you are not ?"
Priyanka jabbed at her again without giving her a chance to reply.
"The real question would Do i need to know you?.If you see from my perspective perhaps you are the wanna be here as you oh so eloquently put off"
Soumya rebuked.She wasn't the one to back down.She saw a determined yet impressed look in Priyanka's eyes.That left her confused and curious.
"Impressive"
Priyanka commented and moved towards the front door to get into main hall.Soumya thought for a moment about it.
" I wouldn't go in through that door if i were you"
Soumya recommend ,a slow smirk forming on the tip of her lips.Priyanka blinked at her unable to comprehend what she was saying.Soumya pointed towards the bucket that was hanging above the door ,filled with something slimy.
"Don't tell me you set this up"
Priyanka mocked, wiggling her eyebrows in a funny manner.
"Ahh I don't have so low standards and don't think it as a start of some new friendship."
Soumya chuckled.
"I like you"
Priyanka suddenly blurted.She was clearly impressed by Soumya.Grabbing Soumya's hand she dragged her to the corridor ,where officer's cabins were installed.
"Woah.You have a funny way of showing"
Soumya huffed.Off course no one likes to be dragged away.She helped this girl and this is how she is paying her off.Soumya wondered.
" Where are we going?Are you bipolar or something"
"Trust me if i was bipolar ,you would have definitely known till now and I do have a reputation to keep"
Priyanka ignored her other question and pulled her up in one of the cabins where Rudra and Ranveer were already sitting.Ranveer looked up at the commotion and said
"Wow.Two girls in your cabin at the same time.I smell something fishy"
"Shut up"
Sound of three voices boomed there making Ranveer shut up efficiently.helped
"Why am I here?"
Soumya questioned again ,only to be ignored by Prinku.
"Do you see? This is a girl.I haven't seen a pretty and intelligent girl here for a while"
Priyanka chortled off excitedly.One could literally see her grin from miles away.Soumya looked a bit taken back, she couldn't see the similarities between the narcissist girl she met few minutes ago and this chirpy girl.
"What are you so excited about? I have longer eye lashes than her"
Rudra bickered, the glare Soumya was giving him was making him feel uneasy.Priyanka and Ranveer deadpaned at him, while Soumya threw an unbelievable look at him.Prinku was used to Rudra's unusual behaviour considering the fact that she knew him straight from childhood days.
"Aww are you jealous of me"
Soumya cooed at him and then turned her face to the other people present there and said
"Look at him finally unleashing his inner feminity"
"What !!"
Rudra exclaimed off.His face turning red because of coughing. His eyes were wide open in shock.
"See that's why I liked her"
Priyanka cheerily declared.While Ranveer gave her a nod and said
"I could see it as a start of something"
Caption- And that's how a tale of friendship between us started,a perfect blend of contrasting personalties.Life would never be same again.

"I miss her so damn"
Priyanka muttered.
"Lets go to see the new Doctor"
Ranveer murmered pulling her again into him.
"Few more minutes"
Words barely escaped her throat.She tightened her hold on him.
*********Rudra's face etched with irritation as he grew impatient.He was a senior officer and yet stood there waiting for some doctor.
Taking a deep breath in Soumya finally stepped but if the chopper but all her thoughts froze as she came in contact with the view ahead of her.She couldn't comprehend the fact that he was standing there in a flesh.Her trained eyes glazed a bit, betraying her whole body.She never thought that this moment will ever take place in her life.She avoided every single thing that related to him even Oberois.She slowly took off her sunglasses that were hooded over her half of the face.Every single moment that she had spent with him burned inside her head ,making her a bit dizzy.She finally looked at his eyes that seemed to be mirroring hers.
Rudra couldn't move from there.Its funny how things never turn out the way you have imagined.Rudra has always anticipated this moment there were several things he wanted to do, he always practiced the lines he would say or the explanation he would give,he had everything planned.But Reality leaves expectations far behind.His fantasies of meeting her paled in comparison to real life.He couldn't say anything to her, words weren't ready to come out of his throat yet.
If he felt even a tiny tinge of happiness before,it was all vanished as he saw her eyes.They held nothing but despondent and grim.She always had very expressive eyes but now the only thing that can be seen in her bottomless pits was pain.
She wasn't bitter about anything anymore she was more of broken,he could see that even after all the years he could still read her eyes ,not as accurately as before but nonetheless.He wanted her scold him, bicker with him but she ,she was adamant on keeping her silence.Being broken was more dangerous than being mad or angry.The amount of guilt he ever felt worsened.
"Wouldn't you salute your senior, Major ?"
