Rudra is one of the simplest on outside but what goes inside is different..!
Nice post.

'Though, we always complained about how Rudra's never much affected by the on-goings in his family. How it was weird that he could brush away everything so effortlessly and be all smiles. I have always been of the opinion that Rudra is affected a lot but instead of dealing with the pain, he stores it away inside of him because he wants to remain the happy goofball within the family, for his brothers, doesn't want to add to the stress and problems - it's not healthy. Such emotions, if not dealt with, eat away at you. At some point, all it needs is a little trigger and they burst out."

This bit said it all..!😊

The thing is that he is frustrated on himself and needs to vent out the frustration on someone. He is venting out on Saumya. And he has a valid reason for doing it. The Marriage Video...People need to stop comparing him with Tej and SSO...He doesn't shout on anyone for no reason like them

Thanks, Anki 😉 Comparisons to SSO are hard to digest, Tej's another level 🥱 Personally, I hope that's as far as Gul and co go with Rudra in regards to "bad boy" - and start progressing his story, now 😆

Mandy - sorry for not quoting your post. It's long, that's why! 😆

I've been itching to write something for days just needed to get some time for it. And I completely agree about Rudra being a complex character. I have always tagged him as being more subtle than his brothers, and his layers have been prodded in a similar manner: subtly. There have been many moments wherein we saw that he is a lot more than the forced happy and easy-going facade he likes to put up- when his brothers are fighting, when he is scared of losing them, when he wondered whether women were treated well in their home, when he said that someone who laughs a lot can be equally hurt and so on. He has demons inside him which he had never really battled, insecurities and fears he has never truly confronted - a certain depth hardly anyone seems to see.

It's not okay how he is treating Soumya. On the other hand, I am glad that they are showing, at last, that yes, Rudra is human and he has been badly affected by the on-goings in his family. There's a limit to how much someone can story inside of themself, ignore and pretend to be happy. But in this case, he thinks he is the root cause, his marriage is the root cause- it seemed to have literally broken the camel's back. The association of the marriage to the horrible things that transpired in his family is enough to have him on edge and lash out.

To your last point: couldn't agree any more 😆 OmRu are very much still OmRu - they are nowhere near being anything like Shivaay. And why should they? They are their own persons, they have had their own share of pain and suffering that molded them. And they will have their own ways to make things right, again. The fact that Soumya, too, decided to step back, completely, from this marriage makes me hopeful that it will be Rudra, now, who will make the first step. And remember when he declared her to be his best friend because for him, there are no half-baked things? Imagine once he accepts his feelings - he will love completely and thoroughly. Deewangi. That there might be a rude awakening waiting for him at the end is another story- though, something we all are eager to watch, no? 😉

Thanks for your wonderful post! You made a broader take and the points added nicely to the analysis! Let's hope they do a little justice with our duffer as the story progresses! 😆

Thank you! 😳 Glad you liked the post! And I completely agree - from the outside, Rudra seems like a very simple character. But once you try to examine the inside, you'll be surprised by the complexities there 😆

Very aptly put. Rudra has his own set of complexes, and unlike Shivay (who consciously does not deal with his) and Omkara (who doesn't know how to deal with his) Rudra doesn't even know he has any. He's never known it. And now all of a sudden when things have fallen apart completely, his complexes which were already on their way (during the Reyaaan phase) have taken a back seat. He is now trying to hold his family together. And since he's never known his complexes, he thinks that although it was his mistake, Soumya is THE mistake, and lashes out on her angrily all the time. ALL the time. It's just unacceptable behaviour, yet not uncalled for. (And I won't lie he is as a matter of fact getting on my nerves these days)

And Idk but every time he lashes out at her, I feel more like he's reminding himself that she's a mistake and all that. 😆

Ohhh and I have my own set of complaints with Soumya but since this is about Rudra, so I'll let that be for now.

And YASSS. LeeHa chemistry is so on point. 👏

Also wait whaaat? Soumya's becoming negative? 😲

Thank you! 😆 That's a nice way to put it, actually - unlike his brothers, who are very well aware of their own issues and complexities, he hasn't been and probably still isn't. I guess as much as shielding him (done by his brothers) has protected him to some extent, it also harmed him a lot: e.g. he has no idea how to deal with issues and come to terms with certain things on his own. He is learning it, now, and probably not doing a good job 😛 But he'll reach that point, eventually. He'll grow.

Maybe we'll be able to discuss Soumya in another post, in the future 😆

Oh, I wouldn't say it's "negative", per se. But the rumors of Soumya turning grey have been going around for months, already, and recently, certain sources confirmed that she will be grey and a Kapoor (which, I guess, is the reason why they made Romi Robin's sister, suddenly, and not a NB, anymore - to keep up with the three sisters, lol). We're quite excited for that grey/revengeful angle - especially for the angst Rudra will be hit with upon that revelation 😆

Firstly, thank you for such an brilliant unbiased take on his current character.
It makes me really happy to get the opportunity to read and appreciate it! 👏👏👏

As you also observed, Rudra has always been sheltered from situations by this brothers, knowingly or unknowingly. Basically, his thought process is limited when he has to deal with things alone and he ends up behaving irrationally without meaning to. He deals with his insecurities with relationships by being a Casanova and going from one girl to another because he never wants to get attached to anyone to that level. His parent's marriage has made his innocent mind stop processing the prospects of love and marriage, and he need not scream it loud for anyone to see.
He considers Saumya very important as a friend and constant in his life, and fosters feelings for her too, but in the current environment, it is their drunk marriage that led to such a huge fiasco and he is forgetting both of them are maligned due to that TV coverage. But, also, if you look at it in the way that it is only Saumya to whom he has been the most open with as Love Angel and otherwise. He got really worked up when she did not reveal to him that she is Love Angel and knows Romi is a Devi. He shares everything with his brothers but he never likes to shows it when he is actually upset because he likes to be the fun(ny) one who can make his brothers happy. Even adds to why he is so possessive about them, he recognizes how the attention will be lost once their lady loves come fully into the picture. Looking forward to his reaction when a grey Saumya shakes up all of his beliefs and makes him reconsider and turn into a mature version of himself w/o losing out on the delightful bundle he is with his ability to make someone laugh.

Its nice to have such a flawed character that is so rooted to reality.
Disappointed with the handling in DBO, but can justify there is some reasoning behind it! 👍🏼

@AttractiveAdya:
I agree that Rudra has yet to learn how to deal with issues on his own without his Brother's intervention. He can be a very closed book. He likes to show his superficial side, because that is safe. But his emotional and deep side is rarely shown, but we know it's there. He puts great stock in his Brother's togetherness and his family as a whole. He loves them above all. He has always said that he does not need a "relationship" and that the only thing he needs is his brothers. If they are together that is all he wants. Girls company is only needed time and again for "biological needs". He once said "Hota hai khabhi khabhi" or something like that. Rudra is very frank when he wants to be, and I like that aspect of him. He didnt dress it up in any way. He said sometimes biology deems a need to be with a woman, but NOT for emotional needs. Hence his obsession with outward looks and physical aspect of a woman.

Saumya was the first girl he emotionally connected to. Then he found out she was Love Angle, someone he had blindly trusted and followed. Then they fell out and made up again. He showed her he was hurt by what she did, by her duplicity because she is his friend. Then the drunk marriage and his internal conflict. He becomes possessive of Saumya. Does not like to see her with Riyaan. The marriage meant more to him than he lets on. But Saumya is adamant that it meant nothing. He also shuts it down and they pretend it never happened. But when it finally DID come out, it cost Rudra what he loves the most. His OBro bonding and togetherness. The brothers went in 3 paths for the first time. His O left home. His Mother was at death's door. In his mind ALL this happened because of his mistake in marrying Saumya. So he lashes out at her. She leaves and he is upset. But when he sees her again, he remembers their last encounter and gets rude.

Then she calls him "Pati". The VERY thing he wanted to forget. That because he is her PATI that all this happened. So he tells her "Pati Nahi Hu main tumhara. You are just a mistake that split up my family". Irrational I know. But in HIS mind, it all makes sense. He's wrong. I am not even arguing that point. But why he thinks that way, I can understand it. Rudra is being selfish and only thinking from his side. But his selfishness is in his anger at losing the ONE thing that he holds dear in his life. His uncomplicated bonding with his Brothers. Ys it's not gone. But now Om is engaged to Svetlana and he is going out of town for business. Things can NEVER be the same again. That is the root of all his issues right now. Rudra does not like change. But now he has to deal with too much change at once. Lashing out at Saumya is him venting his frustration. Even that we only do with people close to us. Deny it all he wants, after his Brothers, the person who knows him best is Saumya and even HE knows it.

You have amazingly explained Rudra, but I hope the writers are seeing it in this way too which I highly doubt!
Whatever u have written explains the whole situation but it's our imaginations, one monologue or some scene with shivaay or anyone where he actually says what he feels. I mean a girl was ready to take a bullet for him , at least give an insight from his side, what is he feeling
Another thing I have a problem with is the breaks there are in his love story
You now have two shows 60 mts and it's still a problem , I am going to give another week to this show and that's it! I don't want to see him turning into one Bhai bhabhi cheer leader to another Bhaya bhabhi cheer leader.
Rudra as a character deserves much more let alone leenesh
