We all know that lord ganesha was created by Devi Parvati. OK let's go a little back & once again trace the journey of our Chotu Ganesha aka Sadhil Kapoor.
Devi Parvati was sad & was lost in her own thoughts, completely detached from worldly affairs.She was sad, for because Lord Shiva had left Mount Kailash for doing 'Tapasya'(penance), Kartikeya had also left for fulfilling his duties of Senapati & Ashoksundari also left for performing strict penance to obtain her future husband nahusha. Devi Parvati was completely heart-broken.Seeing her pain, Devi Laxmi could not control her emotions, and one day she came on Kailash and said that if Aadi Shakti wants her child to stay with her, no one can stop her.
Hearing these words of Devi Laxmi, Devi Parvati started thinking and decided to make a child. Parvati remembered Lord Shiva, started making a child statue from her 'maeil.' She invoked her magical powers, said that this son will never leave me, splashed water on the statue and fell asleep. and suddenly, the statue started moving and a beautiful child, a son was born from it. That child touched Devi Parvati, said the word 'Maaa..' Parvati joys knew no bounds & the very next moment she hugged the child and said,"hamara yeh putra hamse kabhi dur nahin jaayega."And with his birth, 'Shubh-taa' came onto this earth.
Celebrations started on Mount Kailash, as everyone was happy with the birth of Shubh-taa.All gods, goddess, saptarishi gathered on mount Kailash to give blessings to Parvati's son & he was named 'Vinayaka' by his mother Parvati. Lord Vishnu explained the meaning of his name, while Vinayaka was busy eating Laddu brought by Parvati's mother and father.
All was going well on Mount Kailash, when suddenly Narad and saptarishi visited Kailash to inform that Lord Shiva's Tapasya was over and that he was returning to Kailash. Parvati was happy to hear this, but on the other side she was thinking how she did not know about Mahadev finishing Tapasya.Parvati along with her sister ganga, her friends Jaya & vijaya, Devi Saraswati, Navadurga left for 'Suchisnan.' There also she was disturbed by everyone, hence she ordered Vinayaka to guard the entrance of the cave and do not allow anyone to come inside including you.Vinayaka followed his mother's instructions. Lord Shiva entered Kailash to meet Parvati but was stopped by his son Vinayaka as he thought he(Mahadev) was a 'bhikshuk' but when he saw Nandi & Gann-Pret bowing towards Lord Shiva, he was convinced, he touched his father's feet, but asked him to go away as no one was allowed to enter.lord Shiva agreed & went away.
All the Devi, Devtas, rishis were happy to see lord shiva back on Kailash, but everyone was unhappy seeing Vinayaka's behaviour towards his father.everyone went before vinayaka, pleaded & asked him to let Mahadev see Devi Parvati, but Vinayaka insulted everyone and sent them away.Lord Shiva was frustated seeing Vinayaka's attitude towards everybody, and then he himself went to meet Vinayaka and again asked him to let him go. But little Vinayaka was adamant, this infuriated Lord Shiva more and he waved his hand towards his trident(Trishul). As he was about to throw trishul, he remembered the curse given to him by Rishi Kashyap, that he will also chop his son's head like Lord Shiva did to Rishi Kashyap son Surya Dev.Lord Shiva threw the Trishul on vinayaka's head & in the mean time Devi Parvati came and saw Mahadev throwing Trishul, the Trishul chopped Vinayaka head, it fell down and was reduced to ash.
Devi Parvati cried in pain, started chanting mantras to bring her son back to life, but everything went in vain. Devi Parvati then took out her anger on everybody telling that her son was following the orders given to him by me.Everybody shook their head down.Devi Parvati also asked lord Shiva to bring Vinayaka back, but in opposite Mahadev told her that Vinayaka's Buddhi was 'maeil' buddhi as he was made from your 'maeil.' Finally seeing no other option Parvati took Aadi Shakti avatar and said that if her son was not brought back to life,she would destroy the whole universe.then Lord Shiva ordered Nandi & Devraj Indra to go in north-south direction and bring the face of any living creature you will find first.Nandi & devraj Indra travelled here & there, searching, but everything was lifeless due to AadiShakti's anger.
Finally Nandi & Devraj Indra stumvled upon on gajaraj who was also waiting for them.Gajaraj was granted a boon by Lord Vishnu that one day he will enjoy Mahadev's company as he did intense Tapasya of Lord Shiva.And gajaraj narrated the whole incident to Nandi & Devraj Indra & he decided to give his head.Then Gann-Pret chopped his head down and brought its head back to Kailash. Lord Shiva then attached gajaraja head to the lifeless body of Vinayaka.
And the magic happened, Vinayak came back to life, and said the 'Maaa.' Hearing Vinayaka's voice, Devi Parvati calmed down and was back on Mount Kailash.Parvati hugged her son & was happy to see her SON back with a cute new face.
Celebrations again started on Kailash.Lord Shiva also gave Vinayaka a new name and said, "Aaj se yeh Parvatinandan Vinayaka sansar mein Ganesh ke namm se Prasidh hoga."
And from that day every thing went well, Ganesha was also known as 'Prathampujya Devta', Kartikeya accepted him and his unsecurities for ganesha vanished, Ganesha taught Kuber a very good lesson,Ganesha helped Ashoksundari fulfilling her Tapasya & also Nahusha saw Ashoksundari. A special mention to that incident in which Ganesha helped his father in bringing back his mother's lost memory as Baal Yogi Gunesh. Not to forget that Ganesha helped lord Shiva in bringing Narayana back from Pataal loka. Ganesha also installed the Baijnath jyothirlinga in the form of Baiju.
