Vasuki is 5 headed, & Shivji always wears him around his neck, so he is not affected having him physically around his neck or holding Halahal in his throat.

Seshanag being Lakshman is an Adhyatma Ramayan invention - not there in Valmiki. In Vyasa's works, he seems to have decided to assign Seshanag to Narayan's companions, and extends the Balarama example to Lakshman. In Valmiki's Ramayan, all 4 brothers were part of Vishnu himself, not Seshanag, Panchajanaya or Sudarshan.

In Kalki avatar, he's supposed to be the horse, which is a new role here.

Snake means desires. Our mind has many desires, some fulfilled, some unfulfilled. The cycle of re births occures due to these unfulfilled desires. They occure in mind. Vishnuji is sitting on Sheshnaag, indicates he controlls al the desires. Generally desires controlls us. If we can controll them, then understanding Param-Brhma, the Supreme Consciosness becomes easy.
