Shweta Gautam in Mahabharat
Shweta Gautam

TV actress Shweta Gautam, who was last seen playing the role of Jennifer Winget's mother in one of the stories of Teri Meri Love Stories has been roped in to play an important cameo in Siddharth Tewary's epic mythological sagaMahabharat on Star Plus.

Sources inform that Shweta has been roped into play the role of Gandhari's mother Sudarma. It is a cameo role. She will play an extremely positive and emotional character. Shweta, has already started shooting for her part.

Confirming the news, Shweta says, "I am very happy to be a part of a prestigious show likeMahabharat. The production team and the entire unit were very warm people to work with. And especially hat's off to Mr. Siddharth Tewary, the producer of Mahabharat who is very passionate about the project and it is because of him the show is seeing the day light. I haven't done a mythological show since quite some time now but working on this was a lifetime experience."

On youtube I saw promos of Mahabharat aur Barbareek with the old cast of Mahabharat (1988) I am confused are these old cast members in this new Mahabharat?

Oh I think there is a movie called Mahabharat aur Barbareek and StarPlus comes with Mahabharat 😳

Eagerly waiting for this new version of Mahabharat. I hope they also show the journey of Pandava's to heaven 😉

EK's SP is diffrent
its from the eyes of Draupadi,Gandhari and Kunti and is centralized on them
anyways i honestly feel its a silly decision considering SP is a much more widely viewed channel-than a new channel that hasnt released like Epic TV
niche channels rarely work-until like Channel V and Bindaas you get lower ratings but dont compramise on content
Epic TV-is going to be ONLY Mythos and Historicals!

Still 2 mahabharat at same tym!
They should have waited till this one goes off air
How long epic tv will work!
They have to take history and mytho from outside india
and spend lot of money
will it survive over saas bhau saga channels!
All the best to new channel.

after reading toi i felt it is ekta's presenation as saas bahu fro kunti draupdi and gandhari
just 26 episode series.

TOI.com few months ago reported about Mahindra and Mahindra along with Disney is coming up with a channel soon. However, now we have come up with some piece of exclusive news.

Source informs, "Firstly, this particular channel has been christened as 'Epic TV' and will majorly have 18 plus content. Secondly, few known production houses of TV fraternity are working on the channel and Balaji Telefilm's Bolt Media is one of them."Furthermore, "Balaji is working on a mythological concept on the lines of Mahabharat. Interestingly, instead of routine Mahabharata epic, the makers are coming up with post Mahabharata drama which is new to audiences."

"The show is tentatively titled as 'Dharamshetra' and will focus on three major yet unsung characters (Kunti, Draupadi and Gandhari) of Mahabharata," adds source.

We too hear that the show is a series of 26 episodes and the channel will be launched with this particular show sometimes in July-August (2013). Raveena Kohli, who was earlier associated with Yash Raj is the channel head for Epic TV.

Informing on the cast list of the show, a source quips, "The cast list of the series is a mixture of known and theatre actors. Mallika Ghai last seen in Punar Vivah and Balika Vadhu will essay Gandhari, Karishma Irani last seen in Sony TV's Ambar Dhara will essay Draupadi while a rookie actress Anjali will portray Kunti."

When contacted, Maleeka Ghai refused to comment and Karishma Irani remained unavailable for the comment.

We too tried contacting Ekta Kapoor but all our efforts to reach were vain.

Keep glued to the space for more updates!!!
