After Nahush was made Indra, he saw Shachi, Indra's wife once, wanted her to attend him. She had taken refuge in Brihaspati's house, wanted avoid him, told him to come to meet her on a palanquin carried by Saptarishis. Nahush did the same. Rishi Agastya was slow while holding his palanquin. Nahush was in hurry to reach Shachi, he toched rishi Agastya's head with his foot, asked him to hurry up. For this deed Nahush lost all his powers, was cursed by Rishi Agastya to become Snake for 10000 years. When Bhim in Mahabharat was caught by this Snake. After some q-a from both Snake & Yudhisthira, Nahush gets his original form back & goes to Swarga.

The whole epi rocked till came to the gajra. Don't understand why it was that imp to send him away for a year. Parvati was not looking unhappy but seemed quite pleased with the idea. Something is going to happen which will be revealed only next week.

Very nice wu shruthi... CV's are really dragging the epi, it has def lost it's pace and the hold it had in the earlier stages. I was always telling to my friends n family that they are stick to the story n therez no drag n stuffs, but now a days they just drag it to their satisfaction. Earlier ME used to be action filled 😊 but now it's only drag and the action comes in bits n pieces.

I narrated the 2 accounts about Indra killing Trisiras here

Nahusha became the ruler of the devas after Indra abdicated in order to atone for the killing of either Trisiras or Vritra, depending on which account one goes by. The Mahabharat has (as usual, conflicting) accounts of both how Nahusha became the ruler of the devas (narrated by Shalya to the Pandavas on the occasion that he had to tell them that he was forced to side w/ their enemies) as well as an account in Vanparva (in the link that Minaxi provided) where how Nahusha captured Bhima, had a long interview w/ Yudhisthir and finally regained his original form and went back to heaven.

The thing I am curious about is - what was Asokasundari's role in all this? First of all, was Asokasundari the mother of Yayati, or did she never have any kids? Did Nahusha become the ruler of the devas after his reign on earth was over/interrupted? Did Asokasundari also become the queen of the devas alongside him? What happened to her during the 2 yugas that her husband was turned into a snake - where did she live? Was she as immortal as Kartikeya & Ganesh?
