Did she have honey, or wine? Madhu seems to indicate the former.

But if it was wine, that's even more awesome - I just love the idea of a warriorette having an alcoholic drinks break in b/w bouts 😎

If only they had shown it - Ma Durga w/ a wine glass sipping away, and dealing w/ Mahishashur when done!

Just the thought of the fighting Goddess, taking time off to drink refreshment, offered by Shiva, while Mahisasur jumps and screams. The power this one emanates.

and once she kills Mahisasura, the line in Narayani stuti: Striya Samasta Sakala Jagatsu . Gives me goosebumps. Although the Savamangalya... is more famous. but this line trumps.
( gosh and then I wonder how come the country which produces such a line give birth to MCPs.)

Luckily this is written in Markandeya purana, who is an enlightened soul, his work inspires & tells us who Aadi Shakti is in reality.
It's all in mind, some realise it soon some later😆

Vrish, I always thought it is wine, because Kuber gifted her sura patra. So wine is more likely.

Vrish:

Well Madhu, typically does not indicate honey here. From my understanding of scriptures, the words madhu and amrit were loosely used to describe wine. people at that time was also not so touchy feely about wine and all. And rig vedic social life says they indulged in drinking frequently. It was no big deal.

I think it means wine, coz after drinking honey you won't be in an excited elevated state. But the shlokas which follow describe the goddess as red eyed, yelling, intoxicated to vanquish the demon, all these things point to madhu referring as wine.

Also, shivji offered her this Madhu, while she was tired and thirsty after battling mahisasura for days. She wasn't sipping away, she was drinking it like drinking water. Honey is a viscous fluid, I doubt it can be drunk so easily😆

Imagine, showing Parvati drinking wine offered by shivji in DKDM. CVs will probably loose their jobs if they show it.😆

But Minu can maybe verify it. Her knowledge of scriptures are more in depth and she can refer to the book even.

edit: Just saw she already clarified.

Tan,
3 shlokas before Garja garja confirms it is wine.
