I agree w/ Subha & Shruti. The fight sequence was great - unlike in the Raktabheej episode, this didn't disappoint. Can't wait for avis of this one.
I liked Kartikeya getting hostile to Mahishashur insulting his mother, & Parvati ordering him to let her handle him. It was also amazing to see Kartikeya when he was contrasting the flashbacks of his mom vs what he was seeing now. And watching the expressions on his face was mind blowing. How many guys get to see their moms in such action sequences? 😆
Ma Durga's mannerisms - her shrillness while addressing Mahishashur - were completely in character, and very well delivered by Sonarika. Only thing - the singha vahini was w/ her throughout the fight, not just when Mahishashur became a bull. Her 1-1 swordfight w/ Mahishashur was something that didn't happen.
So finally, the lesson that I thought Kartikeya got was that while killing Taare, he should have given him a bhashan, like Ma Durga gave Mahishashur. In fact, Kartikeya should have delivered bhashans to Taare throughout his battle w/ him - poor Taare would have died of boredom 😈
Lakshmi comes up w/ such moronic statements - she praises Durga for all the difficulty & everything she had to overcome, which may have been true w/ the original real battle, but in this case, the fight b/w Ma Durga & Mahishashur was a cakewalk for ma Durga. So it just didn't make sense. And as noted before, it's inane to credit this w/ being a mom willing to do anything for her son - Ma Durga did this to reconquer for the Devas their kingdom from Mahishashur, who was enforcing his own worship on earth & everywhere else. In other words, Ma Durga fought Mahishashur for the same reason putra Kartikeya fought w/ Tarakasura - to reconquer swargalok for the devas. Why not give her her original real credit, instead of the tired old stereotype that the only reason a woman will fight like this is for her son?
So tomorrow, Kartikeya will set off to witness the Nav Durgas? Interesting way to keep Ma Durga in the spotlight - and I'm thrilled about it 😆
Hopefully, next week, they bring in Mahishi - Mahishashur's cousin - to take revenge for Mahishashur's death. Have Mahadev date Mohini, and Kartikeya comfort a sulking Parvati 😈
P.S. Shruti, you & forum both lost your bets - the battle lasted the whole segment. Although it deserved to go through the episode, but that's only possible had they shown Ma Durga battling Mahishashur's army as well.
