Another thing - all the devas had given all their weapons to Kartikeya, so how did they fight? In the story of Durga vs Mahishashur where they did that, it made sense, since other than Durga, nobody did any fighting, but here, how could the Devas have given their major weapons to Kartikeya and still had them available for battle? Another thing - the devas were great archers as well, particularly Indra, but he's always shown fighting w/ a sword.
Actually, Indra and Co fighting alongside Kartikeya seems to be another figment of the CVs fertile imagination.
Kartikeya leads an army of his own ganas, commanded by Veerabahu and eight other generals. To the best of my knowledge, Indra and other devas do not enter the battle field. And during the fight, Kartikeya is mounted on an elephant - not the peacock - as is being shown.
